Posted June 14, 201410 yr I was curious about opinions of which is better, using BrickLink to buy parts for MOCs or BrickOwl. I have only used BrickLink so far, but just created an account with BrickOwl. I think BL has a much larger user base, but I like how much better BO looks visually and might be easier to navigate. I need to look at price comparisons to see if there is a difference, or parts availability. I wonder if there are sellers who have stores on both sites.
June 14, 201410 yr To be honest as long as you know how to do business in Bricklink it is much better.
June 16, 201410 yr I look at Brickowl on occasion, but have largely stuck with BL because of the huge number of parts and selection, and it also seems like, if you search enough, you can get better prices. But I always like competition, so I keep both in mind when shopping.
June 16, 201410 yr There are offline tools like brickstore and brickfiecincy that make using BL much easier to manage ordering thousands of parts. That has kept me from straying so far.
June 19, 201410 yr I say Bricklink is better, I have been a member of Bricklink since October 28th 2008, I estimate I have spent over £1000 in the last six years on Lego parts and sets, plus I have my own Bricklink store which is currently closed due a family crisis which arose April 2013
June 20, 201410 yr BL certainly has it's issues, but it does get the job done. With BL's long history and HUGE user base, I think it makes for a high barrier to entry for competition like BO. BO would need to offer something huge to get more people to adopt them.
June 25, 201410 yr When I first started searching for parts, I found BrickOwl's interface to be more accessible. Lately, I've been using BrickLink more mainly due to part availability/pricing/lot size.
