Righty Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Hello Everyone! Welcome to my latest creation: The Gas Station! Check out the pics and enjoy the atmosphere of the 20's and the 30's, the time when gas stations were stylish and spectacular. Before starting to build I have checked several vintage pictures of old gas stations in order to design the MOC that fits the best this age and also the LEGO Town. I hope you'll enjoy my creations (the station and the cars)! droomangroup Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 nice! love the sign and the stripe work. Quote
ScotNick Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 That looks awesome! I really like how everything works together! Quote
eurotrash Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 Superb Art Deco lines with a striking color combo! It's very effective. I love the lettering (that's really well done) and your cars (naturally!). Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 It's nice 'Righty', but sorry to sound picky.....the pumps are too short for the era.....way too short and such a building design would not go between two buildings like that......it would be on a corner site if it was. Though it does have true Art Deco feel to it......Brick On 'Righty' ! Quote
L@go Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I'm glad to see this being presented here as well as on Flickr. As I said over there: I think this is absolutely gorgeous, realistic or not, and I'd happily let something like this into my tabletown, if I had one. The colour combination is great, and the shapes and curves are wonderful. I really like those round dishes used as skylights. And your lovely cars add an extra touch to the whole thing. Keep it up! ER0L Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 I really love the Art Deco look and feel of this, especially the sign which is done very nicely. Glad to have it in the LEGO Gas Stations Group on Flickr. Quote
Kristel Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Awesome! Love the overall shape of the building, but I particularly like how you've done the bowsers and the roof over the driveway. Quote
SalvoBrick Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 It's really well made! Too bad the pumps are in the middle of the road Maybe you could re-arrange it to make a corner one. Anyway,a really cool design Quote
Righty Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 Thanks everyone for the nice comments!:) Well, I used the pet shop and the greengrocer because the gas station looked a bit deserted standing alone. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 So glad this has been frontpaged, it was much deserved! Quote
Man with a hat Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Wow, what a fantastic creation. I really like that roof building technique Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 17, 2014 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 17, 2014 I hope LEGO will surprise us with their next modular building and come with something different like your beatiful gas station. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 So many beautiful details! Nicely done! Quote
GregoryBrick Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 This is very very nice. Congratulations on making the front page! Some things in particular I liked: using the concave side of the 2x2 w. bow exposed studs none of your element use draws attention to itself - just a lot of harmony and variety Quote
Lady K Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Very nice MOC! Love the vintage look. The exterior really fits the time period. Quote
Ritsz Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Great MOC! Would love to put this in the modular town Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Wonderful work Righty! Very detailed, I enjoyed seeing this. I really like your roadsters, as well, especially the white one with exposed engine Quote
TinkerBrick Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 This is a beauty. Congrats to this excellent piece of work. Quote
Legogal Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Wow! Looks just right for that time period except for the height of the pumps. They were tall buggers back then from photos I have seen. The black and white tile floor also caught my attention. This design looks great! Quote
