Posted June 16, 201410 yr Hello Everyone! Welcome to my latest creation: The Gas Station! Check out the pics and enjoy the atmosphere of the 20's and the 30's, the time when gas stations were stylish and spectacular. Before starting to build I have checked several vintage pictures of old gas stations in order to design the MOC that fits the best this age and also the LEGO Town. I hope you'll enjoy my creations (the station and the cars)! June 16, 201410 yr Superb Art Deco lines with a striking color combo! It's very effective. I love the lettering (that's really well done) and your cars (naturally!).
June 16, 201410 yr It's nice 'Righty', but sorry to sound picky.....the pumps are too short for the era.....way too short and such a building design would not go between two buildings like that......it would be on a corner site if it was. Though it does have true Art Deco feel to it......Brick On 'Righty' !
June 16, 201410 yr I'm glad to see this being presented here as well as on Flickr. As I said over there: I think this is absolutely gorgeous, realistic or not, and I'd happily let something like this into my tabletown, if I had one. The colour combination is great, and the shapes and curves are wonderful. I really like those round dishes used as skylights. And your lovely cars add an extra touch to the whole thing. Keep it up!
June 17, 201410 yr I really love the Art Deco look and feel of this, especially the sign which is done very nicely. Glad to have it in the LEGO Gas Stations Group on Flickr.
June 17, 201410 yr Awesome! Love the overall shape of the building, but I particularly like how you've done the bowsers and the roof over the driveway.
June 17, 201410 yr It's really well made! Too bad the pumps are in the middle of the road Maybe you could re-arrange it to make a corner one. Anyway,a really cool design
June 17, 201410 yr Author Thanks everyone for the nice comments!:) Well, I used the pet shop and the greengrocer because the gas station looked a bit deserted standing alone.
June 17, 201410 yr Eurobricks Emperor I hope LEGO will surprise us with their next modular building and come with something different like your beatiful gas station.
June 17, 201410 yr This is very very nice. Congratulations on making the front page! Some things in particular I liked: using the concave side of the 2x2 w. bow exposed studs none of your element use draws attention to itself - just a lot of harmony and variety
June 18, 201410 yr Wonderful work Righty! Very detailed, I enjoyed seeing this. I really like your roadsters, as well, especially the white one with exposed engine
June 18, 201410 yr Wow! Looks just right for that time period except for the height of the pumps. They were tall buggers back then from photos I have seen. The black and white tile floor also caught my attention. This design looks great!
