medib Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Lugnet news Posting I read this on Lugnet. Someone took these pics at the OPEN Lego store (where Orlego works) :oD Lego Store Pictures The store NOT only has a large Pick-a-Brick section but also a separate Minfig building section (a whole wall full) that you can design your own minifig (3 of them actually) for $9.99. Just thought I'd post that... If its someplace else, sorry. :$ Ben Medinets Quote
snefroe Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 it's getting frustrating not to have a shop like this in my own country. i wish tlc would at least set up one shop in every European country... god this looks great :oD :oD Quote
medib Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 Me too. We have Lego-only Stores here, that have "pick-a-brick" here in Canada. I would love for Lego to open up an official Retail Store in southern Ontairio so I can get the benefits of the new concepts in Lego retail without going too far. Hopefully, I can make it out to Brickfest this year, and I'll get an opportunity to visit the Lego Store in Virginia (Potomac Mills). Ben Medinets Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 SWEEEEEEEEEEET :oo Too bad French people are not bigger Lego fans, I would definitly love a store with that pick a brick section and build a minifig section. Here is our definition of pick a brick: a crappy small oval stand with bricks that are basically useless (exception for the white and black fences). See the difference :-D We can only hope regional Lego will open stores like that in major European countries ;) Quote
Assassin Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 At least there is some possibility of Europe getting some Lego stores. With such a small population (just over 4 million) there's absolutely no chance they will open a store here in New Zealand. Quote
ApophisV Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Maybe TLC should think about some kind of a truck with a whole store on board that is driving through the countries where they have no shops, this would give the fans a chance to get more things and it would be great promotion for them. Though even the gasoline would cost too much I think. Not to speak about laws and such stuff... :| Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Great idea Apo, but I dont see it happening though (its a shame :| ). What could be doable is for TLC to have some sort of agreement with stores like TRU (which are always in the suburbs and have a lot of space - like the one near Francfort for ex) to have a much bigger & larger pick a brick & make a minifig sections ;) Bottom line we Europeans need larger pick a brick & make a minifig sections *satis* so regional Lego should act on behalf of the AFOLS in deep needs of bricks :-D Quote
snefroe Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 they had a truck driving throu europe last year, unfortunately, only with the sets on display. that was disappointing... you can forget about TRU as well. they've indicated that their future focus will be on younger children. tlc is setting up a franchise network of toyshops so it's possible that they will organise pick a bricks in future for those limited stores. we had a pick a brick last year as an experiment... perhaps they're thinking about it already. i'm going to Aachen in 14 days... perhaps some shops have supplied themselves with sets from the lego shop in K Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 In Paris, for what I know only 1 Department Store (Galeries Lafayette), which reorganised their toy departent (a whole floor :o ) have a small pick a brick section as an experiment. Lets hope it will work in order to have a much bigger one ;) Quote
yoda601 Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Such an awesome store! I f only they mad eone here in Valencia! That minifig making thing is so awesome! But tehre is one problem... If you ge thair for them then you cant get a gun or a sowrd or something for them... You have to buy those seperatley or instead of the otehr thing. It should be: Head+ Torso+ Legs+ 3 accesories. xwingyoda Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 We sure dont lack imagination :-D :P However we still need certain bricks to fulfill this vivid imagination ;) Quote
jonfett Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Thanks for posting the pictures Ben :) That store is amazing! No wonder Orlego has not been around, I bet he is having the time of his life there! Jon. Quote

I know of one in Copenhagen, what is unfortunately not very close by... don't know any in belgium :() *sick* *sing* Quote

Jipay Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 4 countries got lego stores... That's so poor :| Quote
jonfett Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Look how many are in the USA! :/ We need more in Europe! I can't wait to visit the PaB in Billund, I heard it is one of the best! Jon. Quote
snefroe Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I can't wait to visit the PaB in Billund, I heard it is one of the best!Jon. i can't tell if it's one the best, but, sure, you will find a lot of usefull parts there, like all sorts of plates and bricks in different colors, parts to construct trees, transparant bricks, parts to assemble minifigs,... there isn't much room to move around tho... and you also have to pay taxes. i think it's VAT, but i'm not sure anymore... in the end, i don't believe that buying lego there is cheap... so it's not the same as in any pick a brick store where you just pay for a bag or a tub. in this case you pay for the weight of your bag plus i believe 200 crowns or so... yeah... that was a nasty surprise... Quote
Jipay Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Yeah ! Do you know guys that the VAT is a french invention ? You should thank us a lot :-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 It was not as bad before the whole VAT concept was "ruined" by bruxelles, becoming such a crappy tax ;) So, its thanks to us for inventing it, and thanks to the EU for making it worse :-D Quote
