Pat-Ard Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Hi folks, some weeks ago I already started my newest project. I wanted to add a new vehicle to my Unimog & co. collection. So to stay with the manufactorer I decided to go for a Zetros... There are 4x4 and 6x6 versions available. At the moment I'll go for the 4x4 but with a shortened wheelbase and use a fifthwheel trailer. There'll come in somme 3rd party parts, so purists stop reading here ;) At the moment I used the 1.9" Mil-Spec ZXL tires, they fit nearly perfect for the scale 1/12.5 - which is the same as 8110. The trailer decision isn't made yet... Let's see... Here some pictures of the progress until now. First some pictures of the frame: The chassis compared to the 8110: The next few pictures are the first betas of the cab. In the next days I'll order the parts for the final cab. I won't tell the color right now. And here are some pictures of the trailer coupling... And finally some pictures with the added cab... So, that's all for now. Hope you like it... So far Pat Quote
Doc_Brown Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Looking good! Bet you can't wait for red panel to become "available" again. hehe. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks... Why do you think that it'll be red... I don't like the red very much. It is just a sample... Quote
Kubavet Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I can't wait to see final model. Tires look so great. As always You did great job! :) Quote
grum64 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Looks great so far. Not too sure about the colour scheme though but great none the less. Must admit Zetros isn't a manufacturer I'm familiar with. Time for a spot of Googling me thinks! Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 22, 2014 Author Posted June 22, 2014 Thanks Kuba! Grum: the color is only a sample and noch the final one... A raw model... The Manufactorer is Mercedes Benz, the same as the Unimog... Quote
grum64 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) Grum: the color is only a sample and noch the final one... A raw model... The Manufactorer is Mercedes Benz, the same as the Unimog... Good to hear. It's looking to be a great build, can't wait to see it completed. Thanks for the info, I was just about to look it up. 23:20 - Just finished looking at the website and also Google images. Now I'm familar with the vehicle I have to say I'm even more impressed especially with the cab, you've got it spot on. Edited June 22, 2014 by grum64 Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 You hit the shape of the cab very well! I'm looking forward to the final colour. I think this one could also beat your U4000! Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Thanks again for you comments... Yesterday I ordered the remaining parts for the cab... Wow, some Bricklink stores made a good deal... I'll post some updates soon... Pat Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) Hi folks, as promised, some news... Today arrived more parts. But I only fitted in the servo to make a small video of the chassis... Enjoy... Pat Edited July 1, 2014 by Pat-Ard Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Steering it's just wonderful! Probably the axles look a bit odd.....or just fragile! ANd I would add a third axle IMHO! Question....tyre diameter is 108 mm???? in case of high torque-...would they slip on the rim or not? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks... Hm, maybe fragile ;) Yes, the diameter is 108mm and they don't slip!!! Quote
lukeandahalf Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 The Zetros has always been my favourite Mercedes heavy truck, you nailed it! Can't wait to see the final product. I'm very curious about the colour.. white maybe? Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Thanks... Hm, maybe fragile ;) Yes, the diameter is 108mm and they don't slip!!! I meant the look it's frigile. But yeah such a wonderful piece of art!!! why not all black? with some white minor parts? Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 Thanks... You have to wait a little more until the color is revealed... I have to keep up the fun;) Pat Quote
Pat-Ard Posted June 27, 2014 Author Posted June 27, 2014 fixed the link to the video... but how do I embed the correctly? Pat Quote
Pat-Ard Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 Hi folks, today arrived the last parts. So here's the Zetros in his final color scheme. I hope you like it. Now I have a lot of detailing to do... Here are the pictures... And a small video: Pat Quote
timslegos Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Love the green color scheme! Although it looks like the cab tilts to one side in the video. tim Quote
stefan_betula_pendula Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Amazing, lime with a touch of white and black details! I think the colour combination couldn't be better. I hope the trailer you're planning will meet the level of this monster! Could just be a bit expensive... Quote
Pat-Ard Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Thanks for your praise... Tim, yes, that's because of the mounting point of the battery box. I think I'll have to change its position... Stefan, let's see... Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 do yuo guys see any reason for not liking it??  Color scheme simply wonderfull!!!! and overall such a piece of art! Can I make an observation? right behind the front wheels...looks empty?! Buy yeah I'm in love with it! Quote
grum64 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 ...Not too sure about the colour scheme... Wasn't too sure about the colour scheme then. Damn sure about it now. I love it. Great colour. Great build. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 TIB: Thanks... Yes, there's still a lot to do... For example doorsteps ;) Grum: Thanks, happy you like it :) Pat Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 No worries Pat, you-re such a master! Keep doing it and show as...it can only turn out into such a wonderful creation!!!!    Quote
Pat-Ard Posted July 5, 2014 Author Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) TIB: Thanks, but I'm not a master at all... Did some detailing today... Changed the mounting point of the battery box - so the Zetros won't crank any more... Some minor changes at the front bumper and fenders. Added doorsteps and tank etc. And finally rear fenders and taillights... Some more pictures: Have fun... Pat Edited July 5, 2014 by Pat-Ard Quote
