Hello, I'm not really too knowledgeable on the topic of what can and can't be ordered from Lego so I come with a simple question. Is it possible through any means to aquire parts in a color other than what they were originally sold in? Say, for example, I wanted a 3x3 Corner Plate (2450) in Warm Gold (297), but that part doesn't come in any kit in that color. Is there a way I can special order it?

Hi, you can only get what is avaliable in sets from ether Lego Pick a brick or Bricklink. Lego only sells what is in production now but Bricklink is a community of different Lego shops. This is people that has Lego as hobby that sell parts. Here can you find what ever that has been produced from Lego from day one if lucky. But there is people that make custom parts that may do what you want. Since im not into custom parts, so i do not know if someone does this.

Hm. That's what I figured. That makes using Lego as an art medium a bit difficult, but Lego is just a toy company after all. Welp, guess my build(s) will just have to continue on digitally then. Thanks!

Sometimes you can find on Bricklink parts that were not in any set (e.g. when TLG got rid of some stocks, or from Legoland parks' shops) , but that's quite uncommon

The only places that could order any part in any color are the Lego Model Shops and the Legoland Parks Model shops. These are the in house outfits that make and maintain all of the statuary and display pieces. Sometimes one of these shops will clear out some warehoused stock of unique stuff and it will show up on Bricklink as a result. Also Lego long had a policy of selling off factory seconds locally around their main factories. So around Billund there exist lots of unusual part and color combinations. Mostly from things like mold test shots. All of this stuff is extremely rare quite expensive, and has its own thriving collectors market. See some of LegoHistorians posts for a glimpse at it all.
