Historica is not only filled with odd races of humanoids, but also many wild and crazy beasts and animals. Many of these beasts also double as suitable transportation.

These “rideable” creatures are known in the MMORPG world as "mounts". LEGO has officially gotten into the act as well with the CHIMA “Legend Beast” collection released this year.

Now it is time for Historica to ditch the horses and get some new mounts!

To enter this mini-challenge:

-Build a “mount”.

-Create a new thread with the words "Mount Up!" in the title.

-Describe the history, culture, uses, attributes, or anything else that makes this mount unique.

-The creature must be "rideable" by a humanoid figure, so adding a saddle or other place for a figure to ride the creature is required.

-You can create a base for your entry but it may be no bigger than 256 (16 x16 equivalent) square-studs though your mount may overhang the base by an unlimited amount.

-For this challenge, no non-LEGO or aftermarket parts will be allowed. Purists rejoice!

-Premolded LEGO animals and LEGO animals parts are allowed, but use them at your peril as premolded animals will likely not win you this challenge.

-As always, no cutting or modifying LEGO parts, though you may use official LEGO stickers if you so desire.

-Submit at least one (maximum of three) photos of your mount with a humanoid-rider.

-Submit your entry before 11:59:59 August 31 Pacific Time in the US. We will always be slightly flexible on this, but when I wake up here in the US on September 1st, all the entries should be in.

-Entries will be judged by the guild leaders and you can expect a sweet tag or perhaps even another cool prize from my prize closet for the best entry.

Ooh, I like this. Can more than one rider be used?

The rule states it must rideable by a humanoid figure. It doesn't say there can't be other figures outside of that.

Can we make more than one entry?

I think for purposes of this challenge, only one entry, though a second entry will always count as freebuild points. Submit the one you want for the competition using the "Mount-up!" title, put "freebuild" in the title of the other. I am a nice and easy going guy- you can choose which one you want in the challenge at any time before the deadline. So even if you title one "Mount-up!" and decided you would like to switch it to another one... fine with me!

Cool! I look forward to seeing some interesting entries. There are bound to be a few that are really unique or bizarre that'll be entertaining!

Yeah me too,

Oooh, so many possibilities, this will be fun. Can't wait to see what sort of creatures people come up with.

Very cool challenge. Too many ideas, too little time and space! Sounds like we can build in any area of historica. I have some good ideas for Nocturnus as well as Kaliphlin.

Nice challenge! I'll participate but I've one question: because my english isn't very good I dont understand if I'm allowed to use a 8*32 (=256) base... can someone tell me if I can use a base with this size?

Looking forward to the entries, though I'm not sure if I will enter myself, I'll have to see

Yes, it means that as long as the base is 256 stud or less it would be allowed, regardless of the shape.

Sorry to double-post but I noticed a bit in the challenge description about "no aftermarket" parts. Does this mean BrickForge, BrickWarrior, etc? The reason I ask is because I have completed and photographed my build but I've used some BrickWarrior gear so I need to know if this is allowed, as is usually the case in GoH, or if I should swap the gear and photograph again before submitting.

Thanks!
