AyliffeMakit Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) Haha, yep, I've been watching reactions to the video and I think AyliffeMakit was the first to make the connection with the test card. I thought I was being pretty subtle with that. Yeah, I guessed from the test card and some of the comments that Mark Stafford posted on Peter Reid's teaser photos. Anyway, I really love this set to bits, and it's probably going to be a day one purchase for me. I do think that the hands could used this piece in grey instead, but overall I'm impressed with this redesign, The picture on the box does look a bit awkward though for some reason, I think it could be how the legs are positioned, but that could just be me. As for the minifigs, I think the green is a good choice and will be welcome in my collection alongside my other classic spacemen. I still want a purple spaceman though EDIT: I forgot to mention that I got the free classic spaceman minfig yesterday and I'll be posting a review later today. CM4Sci Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) This looks so cool! I love the turtle looking robot and the green Classic Spacemen. That video was awesome, nice animation. This comes out August 1st, right? -Sci Edited July 4, 2014 by CM4S Quote
Tech Artist Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) http://brickset.com/...ealed!#comments Lego Ideas Blog link: https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/blog Officially revealed! The design they went with compared to the original overall is pretty amazing though I do have a few concerns, mainly from part choices. Overall though they did a fantastic job and I will be buying this day one. EDIT: Didn't realize this had to be posted here. Figured it would get it's own thread. Also made sure these links weren't posted twice so I'll leave this post as it is now. Edited July 4, 2014 by Tech Artist Quote
TheNerdyOne_ Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) Loving the design! Very cool to see green space men as well! I recreated it in LDD based off of the teaser (excluding some parts that aren't in LDD or that didn't want to connect like they should) if anyone wants to take a more detailed look at it: http://www.mediafire...ec/Exo_Suit.lxf Though I seem to be around 15 pieces short, not really sure what happened there. The designer appears to be answering questions about the set on their reddit account, here's what they had to say about the barrel: Thank you. Yes, the arms were held together with several single stud connections in Pete's original design. I had to change it in order to make it stable enough to pass as a LEGO model. Had to use the barrel as there are some connection parts I hid inside it and really wanted to keep Pete's lozenge shaped forearms.Wish I'd had enough colour changes to make the barrel light grey, but I only had a few and other things took priority (like getting a classic spaceman instead of re-using a Galaxy Squad figure). jimmynick Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) Aww, it's got a turtle! It looks really cool in the video - congratulations to everyone involved in the project. Edited July 4, 2014 by jamesn Quote
LOTRfan Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Wow, this is great, but what have they done to the turtle! Quote
Tech Artist Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Wow, this is great, but what have they done to the turtle! What's wrong with the turtle? Quote
MikroMan Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 So... Pirates? Have I missed some references from other promo material? Quote
danth Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) Green space men! Fantastic! Amazing that AyliffeMakit totally called it. I wonder why they added all the pointy bits to the top of the design. I liked the flat line of the shoulders with only the single antenna sticking straight up. Now it looks too busy. Edited July 5, 2014 by danth Quote
mrfang2 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 So... Pirates? Have I missed some references from other promo material? im assuming blacktron, they used to be advertized as space pirates right? and theres been a few neo blacktron figs relesed recently, so it kinda fits. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Wow, I'll have to get this!! It looks great! I'm not overjoyed about the green, but I could well like it when I have the figures in the plastic. It's nice though. Quote
kevkipo Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Im normally not into stuff like this... But the turtle convinced me to like it it looks like a fantastic set! not something Lego would normally release... Quote

slacker int Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 im assuming blacktron, they used to be advertized as space pirates right? and theres been a few neo blacktron figs relesed recently, so it kinda fits. In Pete Reid and Tim Goddard's LEGO Space Building the Future the Army of Darkness represents Blacktron and are referred to as Pirates... so maybe, just maybe, something is in the works! Quote

We wanted blacktron but were asked to make it more generic. Probably to keep people from going mental over the possibility of a blacktron revival. Quote
just2good Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Loving the green space suits... Now Twitch will have his own space suit. Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 This is a wonderful creation. Congratulations to all involved. Going green is a nice touch too. I think we've had the 3 strongest cuusooideas sets in a row now, with this, the lady-lab and Ecto. Between me and my daughters, my family will be getting the lot! More please Quote
MKJoshA Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Just saw the video and I'm drooling all over the place Can't wait to pick up one of these! Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Hopefully we see more sets in 2015! If this were to be a theme it would be successful. Quote
Bricking It Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 That turtle And I LOVE that music when the door opens. What is it? Hi I wrote the music for the video. Quote
paulmison Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Hi I wrote the music for the video. The music is great, but then so is the set, the video, and the entire teaser campaign. So well done; thanks. Quote
