Well alot of your posts come over that way.

Youve stressed your point over and over again, so theres no need to keep doing so especally with the large fonts.

i was just telling members to hold on to their money instead of wasting it to some money-makers.

i have not mentioned that before and i don't see how it hurts

Look a lot of the members here have a vast amount of experience with colleting Lego especially the ones who have posted in this topic. They heard what you had to say and most disagree which is their right too, as is yours to disagree.

However i feel that you are now going over old ground with every post because people don

ok, vader, i don't know why i have the feeling that i am being picked on when all i am doing is comforting everyine instead on saying the droid is too expensive and we will never be able to get one.

you said someone here has "vast amount of experience with collecting lego"

well, that person is me. i am a super-collector of SW lego figures.

i have alot of SW lego figures, probably more than anyone in this forum. and I can prove it too with pictures.

so maybe what I say can be the fact on the other side of the coin which all other collectors with "vast amount of experience with colleting Lego" fails to see.

I stopped arguing with morris a few pages back

very good, i can see that at least one person can understand what i am trying to say.

Your not being picked on morris, your the one acting aggresive with your tone and fonts. Thats one of the reasons why you ended up in the chamber awhile back, you were warned then to cut it out but still you continue.

As for wheather your a super collector or not means nothing to me, i dont care if you have all the figs in the world. What you failed to see is that we all here have vast collections and experiance in collecting and dont require you to keep informing us that the price will drop, we know the game and have played it along time.

Oh and youve missed the point to natelites post also, i suggest you re-read it.

This thread is going nowhere but trouble...I would suggest we avoid all Golden C-3PO threads as it appears not much good has come from them.

I hope you don't mind me chipping into this topic! I've been kinda sitting from the sidelines, but I kinda feel the need to pipe up here. Even if I'm not a veteran like most of you, I'd like to present the "outsider's" view!

Actually, I kind of doubt that ;-) Marketing strategies really can evolve through time !! Come on lets face it, how many times did we ask for guns instead of megaphones and for great MF packs ? We've been ranting on that for numerous years and only in 2007 TLC finally decided to listen to us (and the line started in 1999 !! 8 bloody years !!).

Also lets not forgetthe cost for TLC !! It would be odd to bear such a production cost for only 10k units (in one part of the world !! But thats just me !! Lets not forget that Viking line story: vikings were not suppose to reach the US territory but TLC finally decided to have that line there !! Lets pray for a positive evolution of things ;-)

With numerous years ahead of us, I think they will release both the gold and silver droids in regular sets !!

*yoda*

I completely agree with Yoda and Asuka. I mean sure, 10,000 units may seem like a small number, given the amount of hairy, unethical scalpers who are likely to tear open boxes just to resell poor C3P0 to make a pretty penny. But when you think about it, it's not entirely out of the question for LEGO to produce more!

LEGO isn't a company that generally likes to tick people off. I mean sure, they don't grant our every wish (I'm still waiting for new Avatar sets!) and whim at times, but they do a pretty good job of it. Adding onto Yoda's examples, I've seen LEGO's willingness to give people what they want through the Vahi mask for Bionicle. To those who are unfamiliar, this once highly sought after mask was only avaliable through the bus tours during selected summers. As such, alot of people weren't able to get these, given the route. Years after, they released the Vahi through various marked Vahki sets in Targets all over the US. The result? The Vahi prices online took a tumble. Whether or not LEGO cared about the market value, many people were happy, including me.

Morris isn't being ignorant here, but rather, blissfully optimistic. Given the demand and amount of complaints about the distributition, I wouldn't doubt it if they released another batch due to popular demand. Just look at the Legends, the Clone battle packs, the new blasters, the magnets, the Vahi, the Pick-a-brick and so much more! If there's one thing I've learned in my short time on this massive rock we call Earth, it's that LEGO isn't like other toy companies. They wait, they listen and most importantly, they act on what they hear!

Optimism on!

I agree, if the number stays at 10000 the price will only go up to insane amounts. And as for the reasons stated earlier...well, the chrome 3PO would be more expensive than a normal one, and they always try to keep cost down. I'd really be surprised if they ever released a second wave, in fact I'd be willing to make a bet on the matter X-D

And morris, I hate to break it to you but I'm sure there are many people on this forum that have EVERY SW fig made, and set. And some multiples of the set (*yoda*). Tell me, what Star Wars figs have ever gone DOWN in price? And those aren't even limited!

Anyway, no more arguing guys, keep it nice and calm please...

Possibly the most expensive lego fig ever sold:

Chrome gold 3po

Was watching this auction, and I am kind of appalled by the ending price, considering there are a couple of buy-it-nows for under $300 at the same time. Oh well.

As for the current discussion at hand, I was thinking, if Lego is really smart, they can release a special edition of 7106 or something, with the chrome 3po droid, and make it an exclusive (S@H maybe?) and sell it through there. There is bound to be demand if prices are less than $50, and Lego is bound to make a nice profit. And everyone of us here will be happy :-) But this is wishful thinking heh X-D

As previously stated, there are only 10,000 and the US has over 2 Million people.

Over two million people? You got that right, buddy! It's wayyyy over two million!! More like over 301 million people!

New Mexico alone has a population of 2 million people.......

maybe he meant over two million sw lego fans. X-D

Possibly....if that is what he intended (but didn't write), I seriously wonder how he devised that statistic. 8-|

lego has a market penetration of 10% in NA. so about 30m fans?? so a safe assumption is that at least 10% of lego fans are also sw lego fans. :-P just a stupid top down estimate from me... ;-)

Weeeeell, I just quessed. But I guess NateLite (Hhhmmm... Is that a type of alchahol?) proved that I was rather close, but not exactly on target.

Guessed what?

I'd bet that much more than 10% of American Lego fans are SW lego fans. SW is TLG's most popular and best selling product line! I'm also curious towards where you found that market penetration statistic, Nate.

from an article from newsweek. it stated that NA was only 10% vs Europe of 30%. that's partially the reason for the lower set prices in NA than in Europe. :-)

i dont exactly remember the date...a few month back, maybe mar or apr is my guess.

I just can't believe that this thread has lasted eight pages now!

Although I still click on it because the subject matter interests me, if I'm honest I've taken in very little of the last couple of pages.

Hands up who'd like it closed.
