morris Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 If you want to cut your losses, I'll purchase some of those from you from 25% of MRSP? X-D is that before or after he checked the golden droid is not in there? (joking) Ok now I'm starting to get real mad |-/ From now on I'm not gonna tell no one nothing I already said I was wrong about K3PO If you want to go through every single 2007 SW set you can Thats what I meant by theres no way to tell So you have to find all of the C3POs and see what set they came in I will not commet anymore on K3PO or the Chrome gold one >:-( Using nice tone above, but not for long Piranha don't get so frustrated, i personally do believe what you have mentioned in your posts. :-) Quote

You contradicted yourself in saying that 1. They're random 2. They're mostly in ILC If they're mostly in the ILC, they're not random. You can't get mad when someone points out a contradiction...especially when your information so far hasn't been exactly reliable... If you know something, say it. But it just seems like you will say something, and then just retcon it later if it proves to be wrong. Are you saying they'll mostly be in the ILC? Are you saying they're random? It's just confusing. Just calm down... Quote

natelite Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 well, i think it's human behavior to spot patterns where there is none. even with a true random selection, a human can make brash conclusions by selectively ignoring failures and overemphasize successes. so in the end, he/she spots patterns where there is none. it's the classic gambler's syndrome. sorry, i apologize, my badbut what about this? umm, prelude may have been a little harsh, but i was highlighting the point that while 10,000 maybe slightly larger than 1,000 it's still a small number compared to 60million lego "fans" out there. even if most of them are in europe, and the promo is only available to US fans...and assuming only US fans bought the sets (ie no eur tourists buying US sets), we still have 10,000 to spread over 10m fans. i don't know how you can draw conclusion that there is enough for everyone... Quote
morris Posted June 5, 2007 Author Posted June 5, 2007 maybe whoever spread the message means: the golden droid is randomly spread in the ILC sets. therefore it can be random and be in the ILC at the same time. Quote

Vader Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Piranha any info thats passed on these boards is welcome, however unless you know that info to be fact and not just rumor i would suggest you post it as rumor and not as a fact. In your posts as others have pointed out you contradicted yourself, so instead of getting mad i suggest you calm down or ill get mad and that you dont want. Now quit the insults all of you or their will be trouble. Quote

rexcal Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I really think some of you guys sometimes are a little too harsh: Why do you threaten morris? I don't know him, so I'm not defending a friend or something similar - I just sense a tense atmosphere around here sometimes. As far as I'm concerned (and I never had trouble with anyone in here and I'm happy about that), morris only wanted to cheer everyone up, being optimistic about the chance of being able to buy a C3PO for a fair price. What's wrong about that? He didn't say anything rude, as he mentioned himself. So, let's all try keep the tone friendly in here. Peacemaker rexcal ;-) Quote

People are getting a little too crazy about this whole golden 3P0. After listening to people here and on FBTB, you'd think that the sun won't rise tomorrow. If it's that important for you to get one, use eBay or Bricklink. Quote
supernova Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 you don't know? don't worry, let me explain it to you.point 1, you say there are 60 million lego "fans", where do you get this figure from? point 2, how many of these "fans" are star wars "fans"? point 3, how can you define "fans"? if a guy says "i love star wars lego" but he has never bought a piece of lego before do you still count him as a "fan"? no, right. you have to prove you are a fan to be a fan so basically, you can only be a fan of star wars lego if you have one or more of these golden C3PO and eventually, who has them will be a true star wars lego fan and hence the 10,000 amount would be enough to satisfy the 10,000 true lego star wars fans Initially I was optimistic about finding one of these cheap (meaning around the same price as Jango), but after some thought it might be much rarer than the number 10,000 suggests. A good estimate is that 50% of these would be locked up either in un-opened sets, or in some kid's chest of lego. I mean, if I were a 10-year-old kid and found one of these, I would rip it open and display/play with it, but not think of putting it on ebay. If my neighbour offers me $50 I might sell it, but let's face it, how likely do you find this "kid"? Moreover, Lego's target group is kids (Lego IS a kid's toy afterall, folks), so I believe the number is probably a good if not an underestimate. 15-20% will be kept by SW fans when they get the set and find it. I mean, I might sell a 2nd one, but I will certainly keep my 1st one. And the chances to find 2 are pretty rare :-) So that leaves ~30% or 3000 figs. The first 500 or so will sell at ridiculous prices. We have seen that happen already. The remaining 2000+ figs are demanded by lego and/or SW fans worldwide. I mean, if they (or we) can pay $60 for Jango, why can't we pay $120 for limited ed. 3PO? So I am pretty pessimistic about being able to find one at a decent (<$100) price myself. And I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend even that amount on one fig. Oh well. Quote

Piranha Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Back on topic here I am really starting to dislike the C3PO contest At first I thought is was cool and interesting But now I figured it is going to be really hard to find one About a 1 in 300,000 chance over here About half will be found by little kids who will treat it like garbage The others will sell high on BL and ebay So now I have decided to just buy the sets I want and not care if I don't get a c3po Piranha Quote
Vader Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Rexcal and Wookiewarrior i warned morris for not only his attitude in this topic but also his attitude in alot of others, he has been pulled on this and we wont take action unless he steps out of line. Morris you yourself know and have admitted this which is a good thing and i do hope we wont haveto talk about this again. Now lets stay on topic and keep it friendly. Quote

Norrington Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Now lets stay on topic and keep it friendly. Woot! But back to topic. I don't mean to be a party pooper, but as I've said before, I bet that very few people on our boards will get a gold C-3po. But, in retrospect, what good is it exactly? After all you'll just put it on your shelf to gather dust, and use your good-ol' pearl 3po for your models. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 (edited) We will all get one. Theres more than 10000 Lego Star Wars fans. :-| Besides, if we get getting Star Wars sets sets earlier, we'll have a better chance of finding them. -ZotS Edited June 5, 2007 by Zaktan of the Shadows Quote
