So you are saying that a 3 year old kid who had one of these magic C3POs is more of a Star Wars fan than someone had every other bit of Star Wars merchandise and could quote all six movies plus owned the original draft of Star Wars? Don't you think that would be a bit silly? Face facts; owning this or any other bit of Star Wars merchandise is little to do with being a true Star Wars fan. It is a painted bit of plastic, no more.

I second that... :-D *vader* *yoda*

What about SW fans who don't like lego at all?

What about SW fans who are broke?

What about SW fans who don't like this fig?

What about SW fans who can't get them even if they try?

i think i mean a "true lego star wars fan" not a "true star wars fan"

so there will be "true star wars fan" who don't like lego at all, are broke, don't like this fig and can't get them even if they try.

but for a "true lego star wras fan" how could they:

not like lego

are broke

don't like this fig

can't get them even if they try ( this really depends on what you think "try" is, for example, if a person posts on this forum or on FBTB "i want this fig for free, could anyone give it to me for free?"

would you consider that as "trying"?

It is a painted bit of plastic, no more.

True, but not enough to spend enough to buy several large Star Wars sets just for one painted bit of plastic that you would be too scared to touch.

It is "chrome plated", not "painted", plus, i don't think i would be too scared to touch it. are you too scared to touch your figure? why would anyone be scared? i am lost at this point here.

Er...what do you mean by a true lego sw fan won't be BROKE? They could be a true lego SW fan and have no money. What are you going on about? And just because they're a true lego SW fan, that means they HAVE to like this fig? Absolutely not! Maybe they like the sets, maybe they are disgusted by this promotion as it's just a blatant attempt to sell more sets. Maybe they just don't like it for a million reasons.

They're basically the same thing. It's chrome gold PAINT. Afterall, what do you think "gold plated" means? You think they put a solid plate of gold over it? No, they basically dip it in liquid gold, which is sorta like painting.

And if I spent $300 on a single fig, I'd be scared to touch it. What if it gets scratched, and some of the chrome gold paint comes off?

It is PAINTED, not chrome plated. It's PAINTED in the color BrickLink refers to as "Chrome Gold". *sad*

Chrome plated, painted, blessed by the holy George Lucas, why should it matter? Lego? Collectables? A true fan needs not these things to prove his worth. All that is needed is what matters to the fan. If this is what you need then go buy one. I don't need one, and most here don't either. Why would I be scared to touch it? The chrome plating wears off. If I spent $300 on a bit of painted plastic I would never touch it. What you do is you business.

i have not known a sw lego fans who is broke. anyone who is broke would not get involved into lego star wars in the first place as it is kind of a luxurious hobby. if you can reference anyone who is a star wars lego fan and is broke i would be every happy to agree with you.

also, I have not known a sw lego fans who doe not like this figure, if there is, i personally would not label that person as a "true lego starw ars fan" for a start

in addition, if you only "touch" the figure, it would only be "touched", but it would not be "scratched". it could only be "scratched" if you "scratch" it.

You know after reading that last post i really believe you live in a world of fantasy and have no idea how to label a fan, im willing to bet that theres more than a few fans out there who are broke and some broke becasue of there love of lego.

Heres an example for you: person collects lego for 3 yrs then loses his job, has hardly any money but what little cash he has spare he spends on lego. Because of this hes broke most of the time.

Now does that make him any less of a fan? No it dosent, in alot of ways that makes him more of a fan.

Also your comment about if someone dosen't like the fig it makes them less of a fan is pure crap, everyone has different preferences in what sets, figs etc they like. Its simply a matter of choice and dosent mean anything, let me ask you this i dont like the new hoth set so does that mean im not a true fan????

And finally how about you answer Starwars 4j's question, stop dodging it and answer!

*vader* gave perfect examples of this. And how many people on this forum can't afford to get every set? That doesn't mean they're not a fan, it just means they're not rich! Tell me morris, are you going to get every single SW set this year, including the MF, and buying the 3PO for $300+? If you can, good for you, but most people here can't afford that, I know I can't. I have to hope for slim odds of finding it in a set (which I won't be buying in bulk), and that's still more than all the members who don't live in the US who HAVE to shell out $300US for it, or the even slimmer chances of winning that contest! Since when does money have anything to do with how much you're a fan of something? You could be a fan and not own a single set

also, I have not known a sw lego fans who doe not like this figure, if there is, i personally would not label that person as a "true lego starw ars fan" for a start

Well good for you, but I know more than a few people who were disgusted by this and think they should've either made him available to everyone as a part of a set, or not at all. And if they don't like a single FIGURE they're not a fan? How in the world do you figure that?

in addition, if you only "touch" the figure, it would only be "touched", but it would not be "scratched". it could only be "scratched" if you "scratch" it.

Now that's just being picky. Clearly nobody is going to go and just touch it with the tip of their finger, we were talking about positioning it in vigs, putting it in scenes, etc. And that COULD scratch the paint off, making that $300 investment WORTHLESS.

I like how you changed from "everyone will get one" to "everyone who wants one will get one" to "everyone who is a SW lego fan will get one" to "everyone who is rich and wants every single figure wants one". That last one is a given, if you're rich, you'll get this. If you're not, you probably won't. And that's where the problem is. The whole point of this topic was "everyone will get one", and now you're saying you need a lot of money to get one. Well that isn't quite everyone, now is it? :-|

first of all, i live on earth, not in a world of fantasy.

i have an idea of how to label a fan as much as you do, it is just that we have different ways of labeling a fan

you mentioned you are willing to bet that there's more than a few fans out there who are broke and some broke because of their love of lego. i do not mind you beting on it,but i think it would be better if there is actually an article from a reputable source about a fan being broke because of his/her love for lego. up till now i have not heard of anyone going broke because of their love for lego. have you heard of it from somewhere? if you have, could you please provide a quote or a link so we can all have a look?

plus, up till this point i have not heard of a true lego star wars fan "not liking" this new figure,

yes, some people cannot afford it

yes, some people cannot find it

yes, some people canot get it

but, if you think bout it reasonably enough, do you really reckon there is a "true lego star wars fan" who sincerely "does not like" this golden C3PO?

finally, i would like to say i am not "dodging" anyone's question. perhaps you can repeat Starwars 4j's question here so i can promptly answer it.

by the way, i hope you would not "dodge" my question by providing a quote or a link to verify your bet that someone went broke because of their love for lego?

You could be a fan and not own a single set

that is fine,

for you, a true fan does not necessary have to own one set of star wars lego

for me, a true fan should have the golden C3PO

we just have different definition of a "true lego star wars fan"

no contradiction there i believe

I know more than a few people who were disgusted by this and think they should've either made him available to everyone as a part of a set, or not at all. And if they don't like a single FIGURE they're not a fan? How in the world do you figure that?

Starwars4J to be honest, i think you have brought up a very very important point here.

why would they be disgusted?

you are saying they are "disgusted because the figure is not made available to everyone".

well, i would like to make a tiny correction, i think what they are saying is , they are disguested because

"the figure is not made available to THEM"

now come to think of it, the limited 500 star wars lego set at the CIV are not made available to everyone, are they disgusted at that too?

to broaden the prospective, star wars lego set are not officially avaialble to certian parts of the world, like China or India. not just the golden C3PO, but all the star wars sets as well since LEGO does not ship there.

are those people you mentioned disgusted by that too?

what i am trying to say is: the people you know who say they are disgusted because the figure is not made available to "everyone" , infact, is only disgusted because the figure is not made available to "them"

otherwise, they would have been disgusted at the fact that LEGO is only made available to certain parts of the world, see what i am saying?

I like how you changed from "everyone will get one" to "everyone who wants one will get one" to "everyone who is a SW lego fan will get one" to "everyone who is rich and wants every single figure wants one". I like how you like me by assuming I changed from "everyone will get one" to "everyone who wants one will get one" to "everyone who is a SW lego fan will get one" to "everyone who is rich and wants every single figure wants one".

but you assumed wrong as i did not change, i was being specific as several members have trouble understand what i am trying to state. where did I state "everyone who is rich and wants every single figure wants one"?

So then what was the point of this topic, morris? You started it because you said "everyone who wants one will get one", and then you said "everyone who is a true fan will get one", and now you say "anyone who is a true fan MUST have one", so really what are you saying? How does that help the people who want one but can't afford one?

Starwars4J to be honest, i think you have brought up a very very important point here.

you are saying they are "disgusted because the figure is not made available to everyone".

No, there's a chance I might get one, and even if I do I'll be disgusted by this tactic TLG has resorted to. From day one I've said this is nothing more than a charlie-and-the-chocolate-factory routine to sell more sets, and it will just leave countless people disappointed.

now come to think of it, the limited 500 star wars lego set at the CIV are not made available to everyone, are they disgusted at that too?

That set has nothing unique, it just has some figs that are available in many other sets. Is it a stupid stunt? Yeah, but it's not like anyone is missing out on anything with it.

to broaden the prospective, star wars lego set are not officially avaialble to certian parts of the world, like China or India. not just the golden C3PO, but all the star wars sets as well since LEGO does not ship there.

are those people you mentioned disgusted by that too?

Of course not, and you know why? Because it's not feasible for them to sell the sets there. It's not as if they can have some, but not all. And if they really want they can buy sets for a reasonable price, or get a friend from another country to send it to them. We don't have the same luxury here. This is a stupid stunt to sell more sets. Not selling in certain parts of the world isn't.

This thread has done nothing but turn into everyone trying to tell you that you're not being realistic, and you trying to redefine words, and change your story again and again.

You said everyone will get one. They won't. Not everyone is rich, and before you go mouthing off to *vader* asking for sources, why don't YOU show some sources about them making more than 10,000, or that the price will go down, or any of the other claims you made? This thread is going nowhere, and is CLOSED.

I know quite a few collectors who can barely afford to eat because of their addiction to buying lego, i dont need to read it in an article because i know my friends and there problems.

plus, up till this point i have not heard of a true lego star wars fan "not liking" this new figure,

Then you clearly dont know/talk to enough fans, again i know alot of people who truly hate the fig.

but, if you think bout it reasonably enough, do you really reckon there is a "true lego star wars fan" who sincerely "does not like" this golden C3PO?

See above!

No how about you read up on his posts instead of asking others to do so.

by the way, i hope you would not "dodge" my question by providing a quote or a link to verify your bet that someone went broke because of their love for lego?

Again i dont need a quote or link, ive been around since lego first launched there SW line and ive seen members and friend come and go and some because lego has cleaned them out, collecting can be a hobby for some and an addiction for others.

And lastly you have ducked my question about the hoth set!!

Ive warned you to cut the double posting out, ive warned you to cut the attitude out and ive asked you to stop ducking the questions. Yet you still do, because of this you leave me with no other option..........
