Actaeon Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Siercon did not waste time in responding as the words had no effect on his previous statement. "There is a difference between seeking justice and exacting judgment. And you know no more than any of us. She is NOT judge AND executioner. And I will NOT follow her if she elevates her to be such." OoC: Flipz? Actaeon's eyes narrow as he looks at Seircon "Then who will be the judge? Shadeaux? Neither man will be judged fairly if that is the case. Or perhaps the people of Domus should be the judges. I promise you that they would want the same thing as us," he says, motioning to him and Diana, "We're here to judge because if we don't, no one else will." Quote

Is there ANYWHERE in this land you think could justly put them on trial, Dianna? Actaeton? Kiray?" "I agree. Con-Man, what about you?" OOC: sorry if I end up making this last much longer, Flipz. Flipz Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) OoC: Hold up. There's a reason I spoke to the dragons in their tongue. I didn't want anyone to hear what I was saying. I suppose it's too late now, though. Actaeon sprints after Diana. "Diana! Why would you assume the worst? Why? Do you really think so little of me? Do you really think, after what we've talked about this entire quest, what we've seen, I would just suddenly decide, 'these guys aren't so bad, we'll take them to court to stand trial'? No!" he says, trying to keep his emotions in tact. Calming himself, he begins again, "No. I want Darius dead. I want to shoot him between the eyes and let the poison drip through his body. He's the one that started this, so we will bring justice to him. We will kill him, you and me," Actaeon says, eyes eager. Then he whispers into Diana's ear, "So long as we can keep them arguing, we have a better chance in this battle. The Emperor said that Sirone is the most dangerous, yet he is the one with the least health. I'm guessing that he is trying to reason with Darius without hurting him. Sirone may be trying to end this conflict. If he is, we don't want to kill him, not yet at least. Okay? I'm on your side, Diana, you know that. We're here to bring justice, sot let's make sure we do it right. Trust me. Please." Kiray moved to Diana. "I'm with you," the knight proclaimed. Kiray targets Darius from the front row. QM Note: She made an educated guess based on you talking to the dragons instead of just fighting. "Actaeon, I..." She blinks back tears. "It's still hard for me to trust you, after Tarban. But I'm glad you're with me. You, too, Kiray." "Dead?!? I'm trying to stop him, but Velquoriel and I won't let you kill him!" <Nor will I.> "You're not in a position to 'let me' do anything, Dragoon." Diana brandishes her crossbow at Sirone to punctuate her point. Siercon eats his Dragon scale (Back row). He remains standing, silent and emotionless, his face hidden in a shroud of smoke. He speaks. "You would follow a 14 year old assassin? A young girl driven blind by rage an bloodlust...?" He states this calmly and clearly. "Them or me? What does that even mean?! You murder believing this to be a lawless world. You are of the very lawlessness you fear." he continued. "I still, may very well kill him. But you are so sure of yourselves, whilst knowing so little, and having no faith in anything but your divine will to inflict death." Siercon was NOT with Diana. Not that he intended to kill her, but he wasn't going to follow her rage, nor absolutely kill the dragon riders. Speaking of the dragons and riders: "They are clearly confused. And one of them is starting to return to reason. I will seek to see that happen. You are deceived into not seeing the hundreds of alternatives." Turning to the others. he said finally: "I hope you will not forsake hope in order, or show such an absolute lack of wisdom and diplomacy in bringing this to a close." Siercon remembered days when he himself would have thought things like "jamming poison between someone's eyes and watching them curl up and die." A path bent for evil. But, Siercon now knew days when the very greatest evils that twisted his homeland were now fighting to save it. Actaeon is only a little surprised by his fellow hero, "First of all, she is no 14 year old child. She's saved our lives in battle, so you should be careful what you say. Secondly, Siecron, I respect you, but you need to remember something. You are either siding with someone seeking to deliver justice to those who do evil, or with a man who burnt a village to the ground!" Siercon did not waste time in responding as the words had no effect on his previous statement. "There is a difference between seeking justice and exacting judgment. And you know no more than any of us. She is NOT judge AND executioner. And I will NOT follow her if she elevates her to be such." QM Note: Her age is listed in her stats, you know. Despite the tense situation, Diana rolls her eyes at Siercon and Actaeon. "I'm sevent--" She suddenly pauses. "No. Eighteen, actually," she says softly. "Eighteen today..." Actaeon's eyes narrow as he looks at Seircon "Then who will be the judge? Shadeaux? Neither man will be judged fairly if that is the case. Or perhaps the people of Domus should be the judges. I promise you that they would want the same thing as us," he says, motioning to him and Diana, "We're here to judge because if we don't, no one else will." "I must agree with Mr. Siercon. I cannot condone the murder of these two. Normally we would leave them to you or their native authorities, but if you do not trust them then we will bring them before Emperor Phyllius." "Was he not injured fighting against these four? His judgment might be compromised!" "Perhaps, but I trust him. Besides, Domus falls under his domain." Warlen prepared to speak, but Quarion butted in before him. "Oh shut uuuuuup, the lot of ya! Who said we need to turn them over to the Shadeaux, or the people of Domus? Contrary, obviously to what you think, Dianna, there is justice in this land. Is there ANYWHERE in this land you think could justly put them on trial, Dianna? Actaeton? Kiray?" "I agree. "Darius is a problem and he needs to be stopped now. We should worry about him first and deal with the others once he is done." Kiray glared at the others. Actaeon nods his head in agreement, "Darius must be stopped." "What is this obsession you all have with me?! I'm not surrendering to you, half of you apparently want me dead!" "Not half. I will not kill you. I had taken you as evil manipulators, but I can see now that you are true Friends of your Dragons. Come with us, and we will find a better solution." "No! Just leave me alone, all of you!" "Darius...we can't 'leave you alone'. You're too emotional, too dangerous." "Surprisingly, the purple idiot has it right. You are too dangerous...too dangerous to be allowed to live." Mallelio tries again to reach Diana. "Miss Justice, please, listen to me--" "No! Gods, none of you get it, not like Kiray and Actaeon. The ends justify the means... Any solution where they live, they keep these dragons. Whether used by the Shadeaux for their own profit or just let loose on the world, it is just too much power--they can't control it." Velquoriel bows her head. <The psychotic female speaks a kernel of truth, though her perspective is warped. We will not abandon those to whom we swore our partnership, true. The blast that lit the city ablaze is a testament to Sirone and my inexperience...but it is also a testament to our opponents' skill in dodging it. And we can only learn control of out power through practice.> "The hatchling cannot learn to fly if she is tied to the ground." "So we let Noctus Shadeaux train you so you can go and terrorize his business rivals, is that it?" "Is that what you think of us...?" "You have him all wrong. You have all of us all wrong." "No, I have him all right. You haven't had to live under his and the other Houses' oppression. You haven't seen the people he casually ignores while the struggle and die in squalor. You haven't had to live hunted like rats day in and day out, like my father and every other Wolfgang member in the city!" "So what, murder is the solution?!?" Diana's eyes narrow, full of the black fire of hate. "When faced with evil, you do what you have to do." Diana extracts a small, empty vial from a pocket in her belt. "Four years ago--to the day, as it turns out, a female Pongcanis named Walbartan and a human named Nicolaus Steerpike gave me some gifts for my fourteenth birthday, on behalf of my father. This vial," she says, indicating the miniscule glass container, "was from Nic. Nic, as you may or may not know, was one of the best poisoners on the Free Islands--not anymore, though, he's dead now...murdered by Heroica. Anyway, they were there to help me escape my mother. So yes, in plenty of cases, murder is the solution. My dad gets that, Act and Kiray get it, and I do too. I think you folks understand it, too, only you're too scared to admit it. So I'll ask again, clearer this time: who are you going to murder--them, or me? Because I guarantee that my death is the only thing that's going to stop me from killing them."What will the remaining party members decide? KotZ Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Siercon says softly... "Kiray... Are you sure you wish to side with Diana?" He truly hoped that the darkness in the assassins words may have caused her reconsider... "Maybe her words are harsh, Siercon," Kiray replied, "but we have a job to do. She and I both lost a parent dear to us. Look at what we are, Siercon. Look at who we are. We're Heroes of Heroica. We're basically a mercenary group. People hire us to do jobs that others won't--or can't--do. Sometimes that is good work. Sometimes that is bad work. Do I necessarily want to kill? No, I don't. But sometimes we have to do it to get the job done. It's clear Darius is a problem right now. Let us all focus on him before more lives are lost. The only thing I disagree with Diana on is that sometimes the Houses do good. Obviously not good for all, but right now if the Shadeaux cannot keep one of their soldiers in line, that soldier has to be stopped." Kiray moved closer to Diana. "I stand with Diana." Quote
Actaeon Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) Kiray moved closer to Diana. "I stand with Diana." Actaeon is greatly relieved when he hears Kiray. He nods to her, grateful. "Actaeon, I..." She blinks back tears. "It's still hard for me to trust you, after Tarban. But I'm glad you're with me. You, too, Kiray." "Look, I understand that. I was out of line, I understand that. You have every right to not trust me, but after that battle... my outlook on things has been different. I realized that I was mad at Kiray because I was... hungry for power. All my life I've been trying to get to where I am now, and I just didn't want anything to go wrong. But I understand now that this quest is so much more important than just succeeding, or doing a good job. It's about justice." Turning to the group, Actaeon speaks loudly. "Look, this is how things are: Diana, Kiray, and I think that justice should be served by the death of Darius, at the least. Everyone else thinks that justice will come by handing them over to other authorities. In a sense, we all want the same thing: justice. Let me ask you this: what makes the Emperor or Shadeax more qualified to judge them than us? We've seen what they've done, we know what they're capable of, so why is everyone so opposed to us making this judgement? We are just as qualified, if not more qualified, as anyone else to serve as judges." Edited August 25, 2014 by Actaeon Quote

For your convenience, here's a list of the characters that have not taken a side: Darius Warlen & Quarion Germ Actually, looking at the General Discussion topic, let me go ahead and post the PvP rules I'll be using now: Three-way PvP in the Lost Forest rules: -All Heroes'/NPCs' health will be multiplied by 10. (Exception: Darius, Sirone, Kreika, and Velquoriel will keep their existing health, though their other stats will be re-structured to match that of the Heroes.) -The rounds will alternate the order in which parties act. This round, the Siercon Party will act first, followed by the Dragoon Party, and finally by the Diana party. (Next Round, the Dragoon Party will act first, followed by the Diana Party, and finally by the Siercon Party.) -Any hero can join the fight on either side. That will count as their turn for that round. -Area-of-effect attacks (bombs, Magic Bursts, Magical Vortexes, etc.) will only affect the party they were originally targetted towards. -The battle will end when Diana, Darius, or Sirone is killed. All conscious Heroes will gain experience, regardless of which side they're on. Edited August 25, 2014 by Flipz Quote
Actaeon Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) OoC: Woah. I did not see this coming! Actaeon quickly turns to Germ, "Look, I know we've had our differences, but I hope you can see past my previous actions and realize that we're doing the right thing. These men have burned villages. Besides, something tells me you want Darius dead." Actaeon then turns to Warlen, regretfully, "I feel that you will likely side with Con-Man. I understand your loyalties. Warlen couldn't help but grin sadly. "Y'know, if none of you three can think of a place where a fair trial can be given, I wonder if Diana is right." He walked over to the assassin. "Diana, I'm not one to judge. If you believe in what you are doing, then may your aim be true." He raised his voice. "That goes for all of you!" Finally, he walked back over to the Mage, the Sage, and the bird-Person. He grinned, for what could be the last time. "Well, at least we are the only ones with magic!" Quote

I thought you guys would want a chance to live. But if you want to die that is your prerogative. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @ Diana - You seem to had it out for me from the beginning. Call it a "beep move" but, I am covering my own rear before you come after me next. And, you want know why every one double cross you is because you want then to. Plus, you are a grump, who want to hang out with some one who never has fun or laughs. Oh, here is your 2 Gold. And then throw them like shuriken at Diana feet. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grabs his Dragon Scale and uses it. (And then joins up with Siercon's Party.) Edited August 25, 2014 by samuraiturtle Quote
Actaeon Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) OoC: Flipz, I consumed a dragon scale a little bit ago. Or is that considered my turn? Actaeon's face is grim as he speaks, "I'm sorry that it came to this, Siercon, but I can't allow you to hurt Diana. I don't understand why you would sooner hurt her than two murderers." With that Actaeon draws his sanctified bow and aims in at Darius from the back row. Though he does more damage to flying beasts, he knows that his party needs to take the red dragoon out first. He looks at Kiray and Diana, nodding his head for them to follow suit. Battle Order Kiray Actaeon Diana (Kiray, if you have any suggestions, let me know. I'm putting her last just so we can have two extra turns before she might take damage from rolling a damage) EDITED TO UNBOLD Edited August 25, 2014 by Actaeon Quote

KotZ Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 "Germ, we need you with us," Kiray said. She then turned to Actaeon, "You got this?" Kiray uses her Everlasting Venom in her Sanctified Rito Longsword from the back row. "I'm urging you guys to stay with us. We all make mistakes, but we can't let more harm come to Dastan from Darius." Quote
Flipz Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) QM Note: Siercon, please remember to give me a Battle Order for your group next Round; additionally, since we're in combat, you can either use your Dragon Scale or you can trade the Topaz to Mallelio, I assumed you'd prioritize the latter. Samuraiturtle, since we are in combat and you are not Hastened, you only have one action; I went ahead and assumed you'd use your Dragon Scale. (Joining the Siercon party was a free action for this round only--switching sides later will take a turn.) TheChosenMinifigure, I rolled randomly to decide your element and target; next Round, obviously, I'll need a specified action. Actaeon, I also assumed you'd use your Dragon Scale instead of attacking. Round 2 of Dragoon Destiny: >Germ uses Dragon Scale (back): (Germ: Lucky + Blessed) >Denerii uses Rito Feather (back): (Denerii: Hastened + Blessed) >Denerii flies (back): SHIELD (Take to the Skies: Diana Party: 18 Wind-elemental damage + Stunned to all [Kiray: 18-4=14 damage + Stunned]; Denerii: protected from damage for 1 Round) >Siercon uses Dragon Scale (back): (Siercon: Lucky + Blessed) >Warlen (Darkness, Staff of the Dark Druid) vs. Actaeon: Miss (nothing happens) >Mallelio heals Darius Kaan (back): Heal (Darius Kaan: 1+18=19 HP restored; Mallelio: -1 Ether) Kreika vs. Diana N. Justus (front): High Assault High Assault (Sirone: Avoiding all damage, will hit Diana next Round) >Darius does nothing (back): (nothing happens) Kiray uses Everlasting Venom on Sanctified Rito Longsword recovers from stunned Actaeon uses Dragon Scale recovers from Stunned >Diana (Precision Bow) vs. Darius Kaan (back): Special Damage SHIELD (Grim Reaper: 2,4,1,6: Sirone Assassinated out of reach!; Diana: +39 Gold) >Diana (Precision Bow) vs. Darius Kaan (back): Damage Special Damage (Diana: 1+5=6/2=3/2=2 damage) Darius: -11 HP (poison) Velquoriel: -10 HP (poison) Blessed: All at full health Siercon's party buffs themselves to high heaven, Denerii unleashing a gust of wind that prevents Diana's party from doing the same while Mallelio heals up Darius slightly. The once-dueling dragons team up to assault Diana, but the Lucky Assassin manages to evade the brunt of their attacks. Darius hides, clearly not wanting to fight at all. Sirone signals Velquoriel to carry him aloft, an action that saves his life a moment later as Diana shoots a flurry of crossbow bolts that surely would have killed the Dragoon. Diana kicks at Darius in frustration and accidentally impales her toe on the tip of his spear. Poison continues to sear those already poisoned. All combatants are still standing. Three-way PvP in the Lost Forest rules: -All Heroes'/NPCs' health will be multiplied by 10 from normal. -The rounds will alternate the order in which parties act. -Only defeated enemies will drop their drops. -Since all participants are choosing their own targets, no one gets Free Hits. "Those Heroes are going to be the death of me--literally!--if we don't deal with 'em. All I need is one lucky shot and the Dragoon's history." "Please do not worry about me, Mr. Siercon. I am a healer. It is better if I try to undo some of the damage being done here today." "Surrender?? But you want to kill me! ...Or at least half of you do. How can I trust you?" <Where he goes, I shall go also.> "As will we. We're not going to let any harm come to you, Darius, despite what you might think." "..." Edited August 25, 2014 by Flipz Quote

Actaeon Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) Kiray uses her stun bomb from the back row. On which party? Actaeon curses in frustration, "I'm trying to, but I can't even consume this stupid dragon scale!" Actaeon consumes a dragon scale (seriously, how does this take two turns to do? ) Edited August 25, 2014 by Actaeon Quote
Siercon and Coral Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) Turning to the group, Actaeon speaks loudly. We are just as qualified, if not more qualified, as anyone else to serve as judges." Siercon laughed to himself. "Apologies Actaeon the Great, I did not realize that you have higher qualifications than the Emperor of this land, and of the next. More qualified than the entire house of Shadaeux, or any other house for that matter." He held back from correcting Actaeon's pronunciation of the word "Shadeax" knowing full well it only displayed his ignorance of the four houses. He likely didn't even read the reports of how the Emperors came to lead these people... But he did give Actaeon a look, or more of a stance showing that he did not truly believe that Actaeon believed this... Perhaps one day they may see eye to eye. Still, he finished responding to the accusation with patience. Actaeon's face is grim as he speaks, "I'm sorry that it came to this, Siercon, but I can't allow you to hurt Diana. I don't understand why you would sooner hurt her than two murderers." "Actaeon, your logic has been twisted. We never had any intention of hurting or killing Diana. It was only her who demanded the ultimatum that killing her is the only way to stop her from what she wants. She was the one who said her death was necessary for their immediate life. Because she cannot wait for someone other than her to judge, or to simply kill them later she has set us at odds against her actions. This still does not necessarily mean we are going to kill her. But we do not support her action. It is an utter lack of self control, faith, and value of her life and theirs that will result in death. OoC: Remember just because Flipz made that a battle logistic/mechanic doesn't mean that is or was our goal. Ya can't adopt the idea that because flipz says "the battle ends if she's dead" that means that the party "against her" wants to see her dead. Read into the characters :) do you really see Mallelio slitting her throat? Battle action and order coming tonight. OoC I was hoping that that conversation lasted long enough, and considering my early action of eating the dragon scales that handing the gem to Mallelio would be my first action? Actaeon Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Actaeon glares at Seircon. Suddenly, he realizes something, "Something changed, Siercon," he says, staring at him, trying to figure it out. "Something changed. You went from a rational and compassionate being, to a rash, hateful monster, and I can't see what it was that caused it." Moving on, though still clearly puzzled by his previous thought, Actaeon says, "As it has been clearly esablished many times before, the house of Shadeaux," he says the house's name with pleasured irony, as Siercon himself had just mispronounced it, "Is corrupt and unreliable. So yes, I do think that our party, as a group, mind you, not me by myself, is qualified to judge these men. As for being greater than an emperor, I never said anything remotely similar to that. Though I find it interesting that you did." Quote
