I'll see what I can do for you," Kiray whispered back to Tarban. She then raised her voice just slightly, just loud enough U'voros could hear if he was listening, "Just know, if you are asking me to kill the emperor for you, you better pay me well and give me some time to plan. We do have an Assassin with us." Kiray shoots her eyes to U'Voros, as if she was saying "This man is dangerous, we have to lead him on for now and arrest him." Unfortunately, U'Voros does not quite get the hint. "You plan to assassinate the Emperors?! I cannot allow you to walk free if you plan to assassinate the Emperors!" "Grrraooowww gruhhh! You are a fool, girl, and you will lose." PREPARE FOR BATTLE! If the battle ends before the Pongcanis arrives, the Pongcanis will flee instead. Special III: Headbutt - Tarban gets in close and headbutts the target, dealing 3 Damage ignoring SP, but also taking damage equal to the target's Hit (ignoring SP) to himself. The target drops their weapon and shield and must spend a turn picking them back up. Special IV: Defensive Strike – Tarban deals 5 damage to all opponents and is protected from all damage the following round. "U'Voros, I suggest you attack from the front row." Kiray attacks from the front row. "You guys better hurry up!" she shouted to her questmates. He wants the throne to himself, but I will not let that happen. Now, U'Voros, attack from the front row." Kiray explains from the back row. Battle Order: Kiray explains to U'Voros from back row. Siercon and Coral Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) "Without them," Tarban growls, "one of my kind might sit on the throne." Seeing the struggle start from a distance, Siercon figured as much. It was clear from how he spoke that this one simply wanted the throne. Besides he was quite perturbed to have wasted his time coming up with a reasonable solution for an obviously dull brute. He was more than happy to kick in his fluffy skull. Siercon drinks his Trial Brew. This leaves him with 6 Ether, and 6 Health. He thinks to himself I MUST stay on my feet. But he doubted that there would be a better opportunity than this 6 on 1. Siercon and Coral Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) "U'Voros, target Tarban from the back row with your halberd." OOC You might want to consider pushing him forward. He's got 7 sp, lots of health, and 18 power. Siercon still attacks Tarban from the back row with a lightning spell. OOC Sorry guys, I didn't quite expect them all to be able to 1 hit KO me from the front row. Currently I can survive a round against any of them from the back row. Except for these two scenarios, while in the back row. 1. I get hit by any of them + get hit by Tarban's special IV 2. I get hit by Unarmed Pongcanis Warrior's special (12%*1/6=KO) Resulting preference is continually fighting Tarban from the back row. This will ensure that I wont get KO in one round (as long as he stays at lvl 12 or below.) Last suggestion is to just pile on everyone but 2 people on Tarban due to his SP2. We only have to take into account his SP once per round, and would be nice to deal out added damage, and delete his call for aid. Of course we'd have to leave a person each on the others to avoid free hits. Also, am I correct in assuming from what Mallelio said, that he will ONLY be there to heal for us, and cannot be used in offense at all? Edited July 29, 2014 by Siercon and Coral Quote

Also, am I correct in assuming from what Mallelio said, that he will ONLY be there to heal for us, and cannot be used in offense at all? QM Note: SP is applied to every attack, reducing the strength of the hit by 2 AFTER row and elemental modifiers. You are correct--Mallelio is a Sage, and is therefore incapable of attacking physically; moreover, without a gem or scroll he is incapable of casting spells, meaning he is only capable of healing. On the plus side, he's got hella Ether, meaning he's pretty sustainable as a healbot. You were also a bit unlucky--I'm drawing these reinforcements randomly from other Quests with Pongcanis enemies, and you just so happened to roll on the high end of the scale stat-wise. Do also note that that "5 damage to all enemies" IS affected by Row and SP, so Siercon in particular would take 5/2=3-1=2 damage from it. You could also just Seal them--the Sealed-effect, when cast on enemies, will render them unable to perform their Special(s) until the effect wears off (3 Rounds), provided they are not immune to Sealing (which these enemies are not). As an added bonus, someone casting a Scroll will not take Damage or Special Damage if their Scroll casting fails (Scrolls have a 50/50 chance of success), though it will still cost Ether either way. Apologies for the infodump, I just wanted to make sure you know all your options--I somehow managed to bundle several of the most common Mage misconceptions into one fight. Siercon and Coral Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) OOC: So when I read this in the rules and facts: Q: What does it mean that when several enemies get Free Hits on the same hero, their attacks are combined? A: It means that when two or more enemies attack one hero during the Free Hit phase, their damage input is added together. The hero's Shield Points (SP) are only taken into a count once. For example, when two Level 5 enemies attack a hero with 5 SP, their combined attacks allow 5 damage to surpass the defense. This way even low level enemies have a chance of damaging a hero with high SP. From what you're saying, this would only be applied from enemies to heroes, not from heroes to enemies? i.e. heroes don't get free hits? Sorry for all the extra questions :P Thanks so much for all the clarifications! Edited July 30, 2014 by Siercon and Coral Quote

Sorry for all the extra questions :P Thanks so much for all the clarifications! QM Note: Correct, Heroes do not get Free Hits on the enemies, but rather each enemy left untargeted by the Heroes get a Free Hit on the party. These Free Hits go down the Battle Order starting from the top (see the first Round of the last fight), and if there are more untargeted enemies than there are conscious Heroes, then the Free Hits cycle back around to the top of the Battle Order (see most of the recent battles in the Fields of Glory). This second situation (where some or all Heroes are taking multiple Free Hits) is the only one in which the rule you're quoting is applied. To completely clarify, an attack and a Free Hit are completely separate things: when a Hero attacks an enemy, a die is rolled to determine the result; when an enemy is left untargeted and gets a Free Hit on a Hero, they simply deal damage to the Hero equal to the enemy's Level just as if the Hero had rolled "Damage" but without actually having to roll. Diana shields her face as she darts between the enemies, plucking hidden pouches of gold from their belts.
