Is there more of an announcement/explanation of what the corporations are supposed to do with the alien invasion coming? No rush, I just am not understanding what, if anything, to do from reading the new rules. Thanks!

The corporations don't have to do anything differently for now other than decide where to move their fleets each week. One possible use of the corporation fleets is to counter the effects of the randomly moving alien fleets. Of course, players may also wish to include the alien invasion in their storylines :classic:

Since you used my pic, I'll answer

From the FAQ on the first page:

  • Q: How can I get a shiny signature picture to show everyone I'm part of the game?
A: Look for your character in the Planets and Players index, there is a "Sigfig" link that will open your automatically generated signature picture. Copy the link to that picture, go to your profile page, edit your signature and add the signature picture using the "Image" button.

The judges have written some clarification of the rules for build tagging. For each tag we've laid out specifically which jobs, equipment and techs it will give you a bonus for. If you do not correctly include the tag exactly as it is below, you won't get the bonus.

Rules for tags:

At the very start of your post, please post the location and tags for your build, exactly like this example:

Location: E01

Tags: Military, Vehicle, Airplane

Please don't include any tags that aren't on the list below. That includes things like 'piloting', 'research' or 'ground vehicle'. In the past the judges have been kind and translated these to the correct tags (which would be Spaceship, Science, and Land Vehicle in this case), but they may not in future. It only takes a minute to check this list for the correct tags, so please do so or you risk losing out on bonuses. In the actual post's tags (i.e. the ones that show up underneath the post title on the main forum page) you can put whatever you like.

When deciding whether a tag should count, the judges will consider how well it fits the descriptions below, how much effort went into depicting it, and how big a part it plays in your build.

  • Military (Activates Spoil of war tech, Battlefield research tech with Building)

Build something military, like a battle scene, a fortified building or a vehicle with weapons.

  • Civil (Activates Awesomnium foundry tech with Building)

Build something non-military to do with your corporation's civilisation, like a building or park.

  • Building (Activates Engineer job, Battlefield research tech with Military, Awesomnium foundry tech with Civil)

Build a building. Interiors and spaceship interiors can also count as buildings as long as they have at least one wall. This activates the Engineer job.

  • Vehicle (Activates Awesomnium alloy tech, Structural reinforcement tech)

Build any vehicle. If either or both of the two tags below apply, so does this one. However, you must include it to activate its tech bonuses, eg. tagging your build with just Submarine will not activate Awesomnium alloy tech.

  • Spaceship or Airplane or Submarine (Activates Pilot job, Spaceship mastery tech)

Build a spaceship, airplane or submarine.

  • Land Vehicle or Water vehicle (Activates Driver job, Ground tactics tech)

Build a vehicle that goes on the surface of land or water. Hovercraft/skimmers and underground tunneling vehicles also belong in this category.

  • Spying (Activates Special Force job, Spying outfit equipment, Stealth mode equipment, Spying school tech)

Your build must show your character gathering information about another faction, hacking their computers, or sabotaging their equipment.

  • Piracy (Activates Special Force job, Black Pearl equipment, Piracy tech)

Your build must show your character stealing objects or resources from another faction.

  • Exploration (Activates Explorer job, Speaking violet backpack equipment, Naturalist's training tech)

Your build must show your character encountering flora, fauna or an alien first encounter.

  • Science (Activates Scientist job)

Your build must show your character conducting experiments or research.

  • Building on a planet with your own fleet on it grants a bonus of +1 domination point.

Is this +1 point total, or does the fleet reward +1 point per build?

I have a question about fleet moves. Currently where Kawashita has it's fleet (C10) could they move to A08?

A08 is a legal target for Kawashita builds but the gate C10 to A08 wouldn't allow builds on it's own. I would understand either way.

Thanks

That's a good question... Didn't thought about this situation...

I'd qay no, you can't take a route between two planets controled by another corporation, even if you have access to routes to these two planets.

I have a question. For ground tactics you need to have a land vehicle in your build, but does that vehicle have to be from your corporation?

ex: If I build MANTIS forces attacking a Kawashita or Octan land vehicle do I still get the bonus, or does the land vehicle need to be a MANTIS vehicle?

Thet would have been good to know earlier as our tactics depended on that we could. We might have gone somwhere else instead as there was conflicting opinions and now Comander Turtle is away so we can't even discusse alternative locations (asuming we would even get to change this weeks target)

Edit:

Follow up questions. Asuming MANTIS take E11 this week and Kawashita send there fleet there, would it just remain on Marden or actualy get there? Weekly builds go before fleet movment. And what happen if all planets around a fleet is taken by others, is the fleet stuck? If it's already on another company's planet when this hapens, is the fleet worped back to the homplanet or a close planet?

No, the vehicle can be of any corporation.

I can't find a polite answer... So I'll just say that if you want to change your fleets location, that's ok.

From what it looks like, yes, the fleet would be stuck. Though the cases of that would be very rare.

(friendly planet means your corporation owns it, a non-friendly planet means another corporation owns it)

How I understand it, fleets can't go from one non-friendly planet to another non-friendly planet. Fleets can go to a friendly planet at any time, but can only go to a non-friendly planet if it came from a friendly planet.

So I think you can still move your fleet to E11 because it is a friendly planet starting this week. Points are calculated and then fleets moved, yes, but I believe movements are valid according to the planet distribution at the beginning of the week.

In the very rare occasion that your fleet gets stuck, you'd need to dominate a planet around it or take the planet where the fleet is stuck at.

I know it's not at all my decision, but I don't see anything in the fleet rules that would prohibit Kawashita's fleet moving from (in this example) C10 to A08:

Each week the CEO (or one designated officer) can move the fleet to an adjacent planet.

...

Only "buildable" planets can be protected by the fleet (Controlled planets and adjacents).

Given that both C10 and A08 are adjacent to Kawashita-controlled planets, and that both are adjacent to each other, it seems like an allowed move. Who controls the gate isn't even part of the equation.

I agree with this. We played the game with the rules as written and chose a position to give ourselves the flexibility of going in two directions. Bob, if you wish to change this, please update the rules text and let us replay our moves.

We are allowed to redo our last move (redoing both moves is a little unfair because we now have "future information" but initial direction would have been more important with the new rule) If you have time we can discus the target in private.

I don't know how gates work (or "domination" for that mater) They are ultimately game mechanics governed by the rules but I think a fleet could jump from a "enemy" territory to another "enemy" territory as long as they had an escape rout adjacent to the destination. I will respect the judges decision and realize how much work there is to create a game like this.

Thank you for tolerating very engaged players!

How do robots Count? As land vehicles? What if it can fly?

Land vehicles, or airplanes if they fly high up in the sky. But they have to be a size that could reasonably be called a vehicle. A minifig robot wouldn't count as a vehicle, for example.

So a mech such as http://www.amazon.co...r/dp/B00CMHWTRG provided, it can do space travel, would count as a spaceship, even if it can walk.

The reason im asking, is because if i build a mech will it be a land vehicle, and thus require a driver job profession or will it be a space ship and require the pilot job?

Taking inspriation from for instance Gundam Seed, some of the GUNDAMs cant go into space on their town but they can travel a reasonalbly short distance in space and fly/walk.

I guess I answered my own question there.
