Lind Whisperer Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 What happens if one of the bricks in your construction does not exist in real life in that color? Is the entire build disqualified? Is there a points penalty? Are you allowed to sub in either a brick of an existing color, or a minibuild of parts that do exist in that color? Quote

Is there a points penalty? Are you allowed to sub in either a brick of an existing color, or a minibuild of parts that do exist in that color? Non existing parts/color combination are forbidden. At least should be avoided, and don't be key parts of the build. There won't be a penality, but we may ask you to change your build, especially if other players report your build. From the rules: Your entry must be located on a planet of the system no farther away than one travel from your corporation's domination area. Your build must specify on which planet it takes place. Each planet has it's own environnement and provide one of the three resources, so check the Players and Planets Index or the Dynamic Galaxy Map for more informations. You must also choose one or more tags from the list below that describe your build: Military Civil Building Vehicle Spaceship / Airplane / Submarine Land/Water vehicle Spying, Piracy Exploration Science Everyone remember that your entries must specify the planet and the "tags" related to your builds. The tags help the judge know what you wanted to depict in your build, also they must be exactly as the ones in the list from the rules, as these tags will trigger bonuses from jobs, technologies and equipments! shmails Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 What is the policy on reusing vehicles? Will you get points off for using the same vehicle twice or more? What if it is not a main part of the scene in both? I would like to reuse my buggy from the last build I did to give a sense of unity from build to build (sort of a cowboy and his horse kinda thing), but do not want it to look like lazy building or be deducted points for not creating an entirely new scene. Thanks in advance! Quote
Kodan Black Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 So I have nothing "Octan" branded (and likely the wrong greens/reds), can I still join Octan? I have a fair bit of white and I think it will photograph better than Mantis. Quote

Commander Beltar Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 This question was sort of answered on the other page/Kawashita Dojo, but are we allowed to have our weekly freebuild + challenge build + unlimited amounts of 'freebuilds' that don't count towards domination or judging, that are just for story sake or for fun? And I don't quite get how alien builds fit in, do they count as your weekly build? Sorry if these have been answered before, but I just need some clarification for some of my future builds. ~Beltar Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted June 11, 2015 Author Posted June 11, 2015 You may post one build per week that will be judged, either for your corporation or for the Aliens Civilizations. Entries for challenges don't count as your weekly build. That's all. If there is demand for it, we could think of a way to have unlimited non-judged builds. Aliens Civilizations builds are meant for player that don't want to fit in a corporation, or want to play more casually. It is also a way to "attack" your opponents by slowing their progression. Players from a corporation can also do Alien Builds as their weekly build. The corporations are invaders of Andromeda, while the aliens will fight to keep their territories, so they don't get along well. Quote
shmails Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Hey Bob, I think you might have missed my question above about reusing a vehicle. No worries if the answer is no, just want to know, thanks! Quote

No worries if the answer is no, just want to know, thanks! You can reuse a vehicle, it just won't be part of the judging. So if your entry consist of a reused awesome vehicle and a minifig on a plate, only the minifig on a plate will be scored. Quote

Thanks, it is just parked in the corner, just like last scene. I will see if I have the time to make a new one. Quote

And I hope in the future we could have unlimited non-judged builds for the sake of story telling because I had some ideas for future stories, but I don't want them to count, because they'd be on far less valuable planets... ~Beltar Quote
kabel Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 quick question, how do we know if a planet has a breathable atmosphere? The first builder decides? Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) quick question, how do we know if a planet has a breathable atmosphere? The first builder decides? What Bob said, but we could also discuss it in the Octan private message board or the Octan public meeting room, or the discussion thread if you like. I personally love the idea of a consistent feel for planets, which is why I told all of Octan about my "scorpion" build last week. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited June 12, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
aeralure Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) There is no constraint on building style, but you should respect the colors of your corporation: For Octan Corp, the primary color is white, with red and green accents. For Kawashita Group, the primary color is dark bluish grey, with red and dark red accents. For M.A.N.T.I.S., the primary color is black, with green and lime green accents. Bluish grey, dark bluish grey and black can be freely used for greebles and details. As I'm now getting into picking color for a design, I have some questions as to how much 'by the book' these choices should be. When it says for Kawashita the 'primary color is dark bluish grey, with red and dark red accents' should I literally be building primarily in dark bluish grey? As opposed to, say, building something 50% or more in one of the reds, or even primarily one of the reds? On the same token, when it says 'Bluish grey, dark bluish grey and black can be freely used for greebles and details' and white is not included, for Kawashita does that mean we really shouldn't be using white at all? It probably isn't that strict, but the rules could be read that way, so I was just wondering if choices like that would affect scoring - as well as simply my desire to 'build it the Kawashita way.' Oh, in this case, talking about a vehicle/ship only. Landscapes would of course be open to more colors. Edited June 12, 2015 by aeralure Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 If you look at the builds that are already done, you'll see that those rules aren't that strict, especially for Kawashita where most people build in (dark) red. Quote
aeralure Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Just wanted to see if it affected scoring in any way. Seems we are safe so long as we use predominantly our colors/scheme. Thanks! Quote
rodiziorobs Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I kept waiting for an answer to this question, then realized I had posted to the wrong forum I have a question about the Tech Tree: Some of the achievements state "when gaining any amount of resource". Does this mean that each member collects the bonus for their corp? (i.e. a bonus for every build) or does it mean that the corp alone receives one bonus total? (once a week) Quote
Zepher Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Hey, this may be an extremely stupid question, but... How do we tell how many resources each corporation has? Is it just the planets they control? Do we get awarded resources each week from the planets we control, or is like we add up all the planets we control and then that's the resources we have? What happens when we spend them, then? Is the planet just totally exhausted? What's the point of taking control of planets from other corporations if they've already spent the resources on the planet? Isn't it just non-consequential then? What's the point of defending a planet you own against hostile take over? Quote

Is the planet just totally exhausted? What's the point of taking control of planets from other corporations if they've already spent the resources on the planet? Isn't it just non-consequential then? What's the point of defending a planet you own against hostile take over? Just check the first post in each corporation's thread. For example, Glorious MANTIS http://www.eurobrick...pic=101853&st=0 Corporations get resources for each build AND from conquering planets Your build will be judged and scored on a scale from 1 to 7 (1 being a minifig on a plate, and 6 being a great build... 7 is for awesome builds). This score will determine what you and your corporation will earn. For example, if your build on a planet rewarding Awesomnium is scored 3, you will gain:30 Credits for you, 30Awesomnium for your corporation, 3 Domination points for your corporation on this planet....................................................When a corporation has 30 more Domination points on a planet than the two other corporation, it gains control over the planet and receive a reward defined for each planet. I believe Bob answered the one about getting resources from already-conquered planets but I can't find the comment. Correct me if wrong, but each time a planet is conquered (i.e. switches corporation), it again gives the corporation its planet bonus, and this can happen as many times as conquering and reconquering happens. If I am out of place answering questions like this, please let me know. Quote
Zepher Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Well, your answers cleared up everything I was looking for. Thanks - I KNEW I was being thick, just couldn't find it for some reason. Even checked the corporation threads because that's where I thought it was, but you know how eyes sometimes play tricks on you. Quote
Aliencat Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I'd like to join this, but can I just be an alien without joining any faction? Couldn't really find a concise answer to this and I don't see any "known aliens" in the player index. Quote

Eventually you can always join any corp you wish Quote
