Jorrith Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Pictured: Lord Mortis riding his Necropede to war... Unlike most of the other mounts found in historica, necropedes are not born, but created by dark necromancer magic. Being able to twist magic, the living, and undead into a creature that both serves as a mount, and if need be, can fight. It is a spell known only by the most skilled necromancers. These mounts are just as diverse as they are rare, since they require live and dead bodyparts to assemble. Warriors of nocturnus are only awarded these kind of mounts for exceptional feats performed on the battlefield, since building one is a hard and time consuming buisness. This particular necropede has two undead torsos that think independantly of eachother, but will fight and ride together. This is also one of the strong points of this particular necropede, since it has two heads, both need to be killed before the mount will perish. (One headed specimens are also known, but are not that common due to their lack of life redundancy) Because of the undead nature of this creature, it does not require food for extended periods of time, but it will need flesh to upkeep it's undead body, or it will wither away. One of the main reasons these mounts are used for battle is that food is obundant after the battle has been fought, and if need be, they can fight and aid their rider. In that role, they are quite fearsome, being able to wield any handweapon a humanoid can carry, plus the poisonous stinger at their rear. Their loyalty is bound by the spell of the necromancer, and it can only be given to one person alone. If that person dies, the necropede also dies because the bond becomes undone. This is both a blessing and a curse for the rider, even though this mount is more usefull than a horse, it does make the rider a primary target on the battlefield. ----------------- Well i hope you liked my build... I was not planning on entering this competition, but messing around with a few minifig legs i got this idea. At first i thought it would not be good enough, but eventually it grew on me, so i made a base and entered! Quote
Infernum Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Nice! Very interesting idea too! Very nocturnus-y! Quote
Gideon Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Great idea, execution and description! Feels very Nocturnian Quote
mccoyed Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Awesome to see Noctys coming out with the creepy crawlies. Quote
Jorrith Posted July 8, 2014 Author Posted July 8, 2014 Thanks guys!! I am so stoked that it came to a creation just brainstorming a bit.... I have had a major lack of inspiration when building things, and now that i joined guilds of historica, ideas start to pop! Thank you all for that! Quote
ZCerberus Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Nice mount! Nocturnus just has the most wicked cool creatures, doesn't it?!? Quote
Emma Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Awesome use of the minifig legs - a really clever way to get a nice curved creature . I think more bones/skeletons throughout the rest if its body might have been neat - to match the head more... regardless this is definitely a Nocturnus mount/rider to steer clear of Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Awesome stuff Jorrith! Glad to see Morith has an epic mount! Quote
MassEditor Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 This is very cool, so glad you joined Nocturnus! Such an original build and I very much appreciate the detailed background you provided. Quote
TheUtilityBelt Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Gaahhh! Well, I'm gonna have some nightmares. Very nice beast (and if you wanted creepy then you totally got there!) Quote
