Posted July 9, 201410 yr I did hint at this MOC in my Stringer Sonic Machine thread, so I thought it'd be only fair to show my rendition of Nex's machine here too It's actually an extremely heavily modified Evo Walker (a slightly terrible set only really bought for completeness and the jumpers imo) which wasn't really a walker. This MOC is essentially a heavy artillery on legs, with a large plasma cannon and a couple of plasma guns. It's cockpit can move freely, which means Nex can move the cockpit around for an unrivalled view of his surroundings, and the guns all rotate too. The colour scheme is pretty much classic Nex: green, orange and white. It might have some very odd styling and shaping, but there's a reason for it... Here's some pics: Front: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Pose: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret (3) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The Walker Turret also has another function: the exposed ball cups on the arms allow Nex's machine to attach to Evo's XL machine to create one extra-powerful XL machine (note my Evo XL machine is also modded, partly becuase I had to borrow the XT4 torsos for something else and never bothered to return them, and partly to allow these two machines to attach. Notice I mod practically every set I buy?): LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret and MODded Evo XL Machine (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret and MODded Evo XL Machine (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I would have preferred to use 2 trans-black windscreens, but unfortunately they're rare in my country on BrickLink so far and I didn't have enough spare... so 2 trans-blue windscreens it had to be! That's all for now. Hope you liked it!
July 9, 201410 yr Author It's OK, but I just don't like the hands and the legs are a bit goofy. It doesn't actually have hands, those are just connection points so they can attach to Evo's machine Any suggestion on how you'd actually improve the legs? This was actually originally built as an extension to the Evo XL machine, so it might look a bit odd on it's own. Any suggestion to make the appendages look better while preserving connectivity would be very useful actually. Can't be worse than the set it originally was though as it is
July 9, 201410 yr It's unusual MOC, but I like it. For first view it looked strange to me, but now I thinks it's really interesting creation. I especially like that it can be combine with XL Machine - really nice. -H.unter
July 10, 201410 yr I like the color scheme, and the structure is original, but the MOC alone is a bit strange, even though it works very well when it's attached on the top of Evo's Machine XL. If you want to improve the legs, you could maybe use small Beasts feet (like Jaw Beast's ones), because I think orange feet seem a bit too big for the mech. Also, I'm not really convinced by GL's weapons as plasma guns. They seem kinda off, and their integration is a bit weird. I found a way to make their assembly a bit "cleaner" (at least IMO ^^), what do you think ?
July 10, 201410 yr Let me preface by saying I had to change what I was listening to before writing this, for some reason I couldn't concentrate. Okay. It's wonky, and inconsistent. Now obviously, with smaller builds, it's harder to make Mocs look "good" as you have less room to put things, and all the pieces are proportionally bigger. That being said, I still think that this could of been done better. It's not horrible, and has a neat (if a bit unoriginal) concept behind it. I like this, but Only in theory. I've always been a big fan of mechs in the styling of this one, and it gets some key features right. -The gun head is super cool -driver placement works well That being said, I still don't really like this thing. -Those guns are stupid. It's ninety percent lego's fault, as the molds themselves just look like nonsense, but I'd still recommend using more subtle barrel pieces. -The torso, especially the back, is fifty different flavors of awkward. You could of slapped just about anything onto the back and infinitely improve how it looks. -The whole 'combining with the larger mech' concept isn't necessarily bad, but it's nothing to write home about. -Colorscheme desperately needs more grey, this is more of an opiniony thing for me, but with such a light colorscheme otherwise, I just think replacing most of that black with grey pieces would of looked better. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this moc. It underwhelms me.
