Fabulandlover Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I was wondering if people have other hobbies beside Lego? I am into webdesign, reading and theatre :) Quote
Macsen Wledig Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 It's rock climbing for me, which to be fair is my main hobby. I've recently decided that I can combine rock climbing and Lego into one hobby, hence this little series of photos I've just started: My other hobby by Macsen Wledig, on Flickr I also like reading, poetry, football and photography though. Godtshep Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) I like cycling, swimming, Minecraft, Movies, Creative writing and chess. ...And Cross-stitch, crochet, knitting and sewing. Edited July 11, 2014 by Godtshep Quote
jodawill Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I like twisty puzzles (rubik's cubes, etc.). Quote
RaginSpartan86 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) I'm into gaming, reading, and collecting. Among the things I collect are Transformers, Halo, Predator, and Marvel Legends. Edited July 11, 2014 by RaginSpartan86 Quote
TheLegGodt Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I like gaming and golf. And doing the garden (almost the same fun as making a lego city layout is re-doing a part pf the garden) Quote
Jetrax99 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Currently building a major kingdom in Minecraft. I also enjoy riding my bike, sadly, it's back tire is flat and the innertube needs replace. I collect other things. Mainly Transformers and Mega Bloks Halo and WoW. I do play Halo as well. So far, Reach is my favorite game. Quote
Faefrost Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Other hobbies besides Lego? BURN THE HERETIC! No seriously, I do model railroading and scale model building. I've actually moved more to Lego as I have less room, and in theory it makes less of a mess in the house. (Spill a few bottles of paint on the carpet and the wife's gets all worked up... And she is completely unreasonable on the subject of airbrushing indoors. Sigh!) Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Well, my hobbies besides LEGO include drawing; creative writing; photography; rock, mineral and fossil collecting; fossil hunting; cars; music and a little bit of travelling and sightseeing related to geology really. Some say that I probably have too many hobbies actually! I also used to collect diecast model cars, but sort of drew the line on that when I realised that that £150 I was spending on a highly detailed single piece model could have been spent better on LEGO Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) Drawing and writing on a non professional basis, reading, lots of reading, watching a lot of TV, a bit of cooking, and a bit of amateur action figure customization. I used to love playing music though, and jogging. Edited July 11, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) Reading (I have so many comics/books), filmmaking and acting, action figure collecting, mostly Marvel but I do have a few Black series Star Wars and Assains Creed figures. I also have a largish Transformer collection that I am very fond off. I also draw, camp, watch and critic movies, dabble in parkour and generally try to enjoy life! Zerobricks Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Sure, bicycling, longboarding, video games, animating and karate Quote
BirdOPrey5 Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 ... I collect other things. Mainly Transformers and Mega Bloks Halo and WoW. ... Yesterday woot.com was offering the HALO Mammoth for $99 - it looked awesome - http://kids.woot.com/offers/mega-bloks-halo-unsc-mammoth-vehicle But... not really being a HALO fan myself I passed on it. Also didn't have a great experience with Mega Bloks to throw $100 toward them... they'll have to win be back with a smaller set first. Quote
Lady K Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 I love reading Fantasy Adventure novels, hiking, camping, knitting, gem/mineral/rock/fossil collecting, traveling if it involves nature and away from touristy places, and collecting stuffed plushies! My house is full of Lego and Plushies in every room! Quote
Mutant Orc Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Reading; for fun, creative writing on occasions, but I rarely get past the opening (!!!); film watching; and not much else besides. I don't do do much. I have a hobby deficit. Quote
Loki Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Oh, I have a few! I enjoy reading for fun (Anything, really -- YA series like The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, Harry Potter, etc... to The Picture of Dorian Gray, or A Midsummer Night's Dream, or Oliver Twist... and then other fiction, like the Night Angel trilogy, or the Deepgate Codex). That all hinges on what I'm interested in at the moment (TMI sorta holds a special place in my heart for character diversity: lovely to have a bisexual character and a gay character in -something- for once). But aside from reading I enjoy creative writing; used to write tons of fanfiction for whatever I was interested in before I started working on original things (and text-based roleplaying factors into that, which lets me play with new characters and ideas a bit... as well as introduce some new ones, lol). Aside from those it's games (like whatever MMO my friends get engaged in, or LoL despite how terrible I am at it, or console RPG's, or handheld ones like The Legend of Zelda -- Disgaea also has a special place in my heart as does Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy). Can't think of much else I do that'd really fit into "hobby"... I mean, I buy a lot of pretty pink things, so I guess that could count to some degree? IIIII only really bake sometimes and I don't cook as often as I should, so I'm just kinda average there and follow the rules as far as that goes (and am not really someone who goes out of their way to do either, haha). kibosh Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 After so deep reflection, I realized I have too many hobbies, and this causes me to not have enough time to enjoy any of them. I just recently started cutting way back to concentrate on my favorite; LEGO. I used to make intricate, detailed costumes. I just don't have the time to sew anymore, or the space. In the process of selling off all my costume pieces. I used to be big into miniature gaming. None of my friends play, and my kids are uninterested, so I've been selling them off as well. I collected WAY too many Star Wars toys over the years. Working on trading them off, or selling them outright. That being said, I do love photography and filmmaking. I plan to work these both into my LEGO hobby as well. And all money raised from hobby sales goes right back into LEGO. ;-) Quote
TheGreatSpirit Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I play the violin and I do some 3d computer modelling, although I'm just a beginner at the latter. Quote
TheLegGodt Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Interesting commonalities among AFOLs... Creative writing, reading, photography. Should be quite easy to make a standard profile of an AFOL based on these hobbies. i wonder if the same could be said in regard to socio demographics. Would be interested in that, on the other hand if LEGO catch on they might start cross selling all kinds of stuff to us poor AFOLs ;-) Quote
obsidianheart Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I draw a lot, write fairly often, read (very sparsely these days, I'm afraid), and enjoy the occasional video game (although this last one I do very, very rarely). I also do a twice-yearly tapletop RPG, but the older the players get, the harder it is to line our schedules up. Quote
Kivi Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Cycling and music. I have plenty of other interests but somehow deliberately try not to take them up as hobbies as too many activities would mean less time for lego. Quote
