Rishab N Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) While driving my crawler over some text books and pillows i noted that it would stop and get stuck on easy obstacles that it used to climb and a distinct whining noise could be heard. I couldn't find the source of noise, but I tried replacing the batteries in both the remote and the crawler which changed nothing. Anyone else experience this problemin their 41999 or 9398? If so do you guys have any solutions? Sorry if there's already another topic like this but i wasn't able to find one Edited July 13, 2014 by Rishab N Quote
Black-Build Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) I had/have the same problem with my 41999! I wanted to post it here when I'm back from holiday (about two weeks) I haven't driven my crawler in half a year, so i don't know if that had something to do with it. When i try to drive over some easy opstacles it stops and the v2 reciever makers a high peep... Edited July 13, 2014 by Black-Build Quote

Black-Build Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Different bateries allready tried, but different batterybox should work? Quote
DuckBricks Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Different bateries allready tried, but different batterybox should work? It shouldn't make a difference, but maybe you can try... Quote
TinkerBrick Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 This could really be related to a faulty battery box. Tried another BB or contact Lego customer service about the apparently faulty one. Quote
Rishab N Posted July 13, 2014 Author Posted July 13, 2014 I changed the battery box and the batteries(again) and it worked perfectly. Looks like I had both a faulty battery box and faulty batteries Thanks for the help! Quote
Black-Build Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) This could really be related to a faulty battery box. But if Rishab N and I had the same problem, we both have a faulty battery box. Coincidence? EDIT Didn't saw your comment Rishab N, now i know how to fix it, thanks for the help guys! Edited July 13, 2014 by Black-Build Quote
750ACE Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 My 9398 had a bad battery box right out of the box. Motors would stall. Tried another one and problem was gone. Quote
JM1971 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) Looks like the thermal cut-off degrades over time, this thread is about bypassing it... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74919 Edited July 14, 2014 by JM1971 Quote
Captainowie Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Protection measures are there for a reason - just be careful! Quote
BimmerBoy Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 As far as I can tell, these battery boxes have a somewhat high failure rate (at least relative to other Power Function parts). I was at the local Lego Store awhile ago and saw two sitting behind the cashier counter. I asked what was up and the brick specialist said they were returned because they were faulty right out of the box. I have several Train PF battery boxes, and they all work fine. I only have one Technic PF battery box (for my Grand Prix Racer), so far it works ok, but it seems unlikely the GPR function puts much strain on the batteries/box Quote
Interceptor Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) My 8043 motorized excavator had faulty BB right out of the box and I was so angry that my 2.0 edition expensive excavator didn't work well. First I thought that problem came from M motors and I rebuilt it several times but nothing changed. Finally I tried BB change and that was it. LEGO customer service sent me a new one and now everyting is fine. LEGO has one of the best customer services. And PF BB is one of LEGOs worst products according to the feedbacks. BachAddict Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Sariel had a faulty BB out of the box in 9398! Quote
