M'Kyuun Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I think those are the same mudguards used in the upcoming Speed Champion sets. Quote
SMC Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 (edited) Oddly with the space sets I like all the vehicles, Training Jet truck, Launch Pad truck and yellow buggy that comes in the big set. I think that the big £70 set would have been great as a £100 set with some structure added like in 3368. Edited January 28, 2015 by SMC Quote
DrJB Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The Town Square somehow reminds me of the 'Public Transport' from few years back. Quote
Robert8 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I'd like to see pictures of the boxes of the Divers sets It looks like the divers don't have the short sleeves, like the blue diver we saw on the promo box Quote
WhiteFang Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The second half of the City wave is awesome. I am looking forward to them. Quote
jonwil Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Is it just me or does the helicopter in the underwater sets look almost exactly like a Chinook? Not that that's a bad thing given that the Chinook does get used in the real world for similar things to what its doing in the LEGO set... Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I think those are the same mudguards used in the upcoming Speed Champion sets. You are so correct.......funny for Lego trying to actually put streamlining etc., on vehicles ! Quote
gylman Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Wait - where can I get that LEGO store set 40145! I like that more than any of these City sets. Quote
talos Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I think 40145 was only for those at a brand store grand opening, BrickLink might have some for sale.. Quote
FactorXa Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Hello there, I am new to Eurobricks and love trains (very very small layout...) Any ideas if the new tram will allow power functions? Thanks Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Thank you all very much for the links, pictures and information! Deep Sea Research I'm really disappointed by these sets - apart from the big heli and the research vessel they look like MOCs and not official sets and the colors are imo not nice. Plus the theme of the ninetees did in every set include much more exciting stuff. Space The sets look very well built and there are some great minifigures. It's really a pity that I've neither the money nor the place for these sets! Town Square  Luckily I was wrong and this set beats ny exceptions by far - it's one of the best City sets TLG has been releasing! - Of course there are some things which however disturb: The coffee bar is imo much too small and should be a regular building with seats inside, the tram doesn't include doors as well as the smaller cars and on the Lego Store's second floor there are only two minifigures and no other interior. And instead of the Lego truck a regular postal van would imo have been much more attractive (since there doesn't exist one in six studs wide til now). + But everything other is simply perfect! We're finally getting a lot of things we've waited for years, partly even decades: a Lego Store, a car dealership, a coffee bar and a TV copter! 14 minifigures is magnificent and the details in this set are stunning! Klaus-Dieter Quote
BearHeart Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I'm with Klaus-Dieter. I was looking forward to the deep sea sets but I'm a little disappointed with the pictures. I was hoping for something closer to the 1997-98 underwater theme but this looks more like the Aquaraiders of 2007. Maybe better pictures will change my mind. Quote
wooootles Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 That City Square is actually a marvel. 14 minifigs? Since when was the last time town/CITY had that much? If I had a gripe, it would be a minor one: Like its predecessors (which I would consider 7641, 8404 and 60026) it seems to be a collection of $20-30 sets instead of a BIG set, thus it doesn't have the presence of, say, the Grand Hotel in the Friends summer line. Only Fire and Police (which is without question the main theme of CITY) gets such buildings. Wouldn't it be awesome if CITY had a "Financial District" set with one building that towered over the rest of the CITY buildngs, had coffee shops, hotdog stands and buses/cars to compliment it? But I might actually buy one of these guys! Divers look ok. No care for rest of CITY, Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I agree we need more CBD structures so you can call it a city. Now access to inside the tram is by those windows mounted on click hinges......clever Lego, very clever.....streamline effect while still providing access. Quote
lostdriveway Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Underwhelmed by the City Square set... Especially for the reported price tag.. Needs better / bigger builders.. Probably a pass for me.. Quote
Sven F Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I am trying to figure out WHY is there a helicopter in the City Square set? Arghh.. Because kids. It is now official, Friends sets have become way more advanced than city. Maybe something to do with girls being a bit more mature in general? Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) Underwhelmed by the City Square set... Especially for the reported price tag.. Needs better / bigger builders.. Probably a pass for me.. We are divided on City Sqaure.......just like some people are on the Helicarrier, Lego must be dropping the ball ? Actually, I'll buy the CS but when it's on sale......I try not to buy Lego full priced if I can't help it. The builds look more detailed than city sets of five years ago.....a lot more brick building and SNOT'ing to go with regular panel building. Now if the builds look in complete......modify them......even turn them into modulars........hey, the coffee kiosk is a small really.....it has a closed back. Edit - now remember that helicopter isn't a police or fire one.......it's a TV News chopper........which means maybe next year something to join it ? Edited January 29, 2015 by lightningtiger Quote
jfbat Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I think those are the same mudguards used in the upcoming Speed Champion sets. yep. Came to that conclusion on brickset yesterday. Also, we're finally getting regular trucks with larger tyres than cars. Quote
wooootles Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Well, can we try to 'appraise' the individual components of 60097? -Auto dealer has a moderately sized 2-storey building, with 2 cars. $40-50 -Tow truck seems to be the same size as 60017. $20 -Tram has big rare pieces, I would say $30-35 -LEGO store + truck seems to be the same size as 3661 bank, minus 1 car. $40 -helicopter $10 -I could see the kiosks being $10 each, $20 total. Also reiterating 14 minifigs total. Add all those up, I'm looking at, at least, CREATOR expert modular level pricing! I can see why someone would be turned off by the pricing if they don't like some of the components. I don't care for the helicopter but fortunately I like what I see with the rest of 60097. Quote
Moebius118 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Because kids. It is now official, Friends sets have become way more advanced than city. Maybe something to do with girls being a bit more mature in general? Horrible stereotype. But I think LEGO believes it as I agree Friends is getting a far more diverse array of structures than I am getting with City. Quote
Gongoro73 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I was expecting a 100/120€ set, similar as the last Town Square. But 170€... wow! Is that price fully confirmed? Quote
*thomas* Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Deep Sea Research I'm really disappointed by these sets - apart from the big heli and the research vessel they look like MOCs and not official sets and the colors are imo not nice. Plus the theme of the ninetees did in every set include much more exciting stuff. Klaus-Dieter I have to agree, the sets from the '90 were very nice. But it is not fair to compare these already, we have no idea what exactly is included, not do we know what minifigs we are getting. Furthermore, I have a feeling that not every set was shown in the pictures. We need a closer/more detailed look on the subs/boat/heli before we can say much more about them. I think I will only be getting the ship and, if there is a submarine set, I'll get of if the sub looks realistic. Quote
M_slug357 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I agree on the CC's pricing; If TLG could lower it by at least 20€, I'd buy it. I'm currently waiting to throw all of my monies at the 60098 set.... Quote
Robert8 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 (edited) Thanks to Promo Bricks for taking some decent pictures! That sub looks stellar! Edited January 30, 2015 by Robert8 Quote
