Otherwise City is really getting a boring theme for me although it's in principle the one I like the most.

Yep, me too.

Police sets used to be on a three-year rotation ... and then it was every other year ... and now it's every year. All the interesting city-related stuff is going on over in Friends now, which in its short lifetime has already spawned more new buildings and locations than the last 20 years of Town / City (vet, juice bar, cafe, high school, bakery, pet shop, etc.).

Meanwhile, it has long been since we've had this decade's interpretation of 6561 (but thanks L@go)

Haha! You're welcome :)

I like the rest of your post as well - it's pretty spot-on. But it's been a while since I've let myself get annoyed by the City release cycles - I mainly see these sets as parts packs now.

Thanks for the info just2good. I know Police sets are perennial but I'm surprised to see a Police ATV considering there is currently one still in production from 2013. Perhaps this newer set will be sized like the current Fire Chief Car / Monster Truck / Light Repair Truck, which would allow for a vehicle and side build.

Oh FFS! You have to be kidding me!! :hmpf_bad:

Remember when Lego advertised themselves as being a toy to encourage the imagination? They need to take a look at that statement!

I agree with the others who've pointed out there seems to be plethora of Police themed sets.

Please can we have some more buildings! Although some new sets in the construction theme is welcome...

I personally don't mind to see new Police set every season---- only if Police doesn't monopolize the whole wave once again. Maybe they could just cut the number and leave some space for every subtheme. Oh, so where is the Arctic Police?

The alternative way is to develop a Police Academy story and treat it like an action theme. That might interest FOLs and keep them following from year to year. But I guess TLG would still keep the backstory as generic as possible, much to Undercover's dismay.

The other themes help complete the 'city': houses from creator line, various cool vehicles from super heroes etc, interesting structures from other themes(monster fighters etc). And that's just for kids. Add modulars, winter village etc for adults and I think you can safely say Lego provides through their various themes more than enough great sets to build a whole city.

It's nice to see more themes cover the range of LEGO buildings (Creator, Friends etc), but I believe some buildings should still belong to City theme. Central train stations, museums.... those public things. The buildings from 2013 Police-themed sets are ok, but they're not treated as well as the Grand Police Station after all.

I wonder if we'll see a return of Chase McCain ?

Well, now I'm interested in city again......Arctic put me off but new construction and de-construction sets.......awesome.

Now that tow truck might be smaller version just for cars of this years truck tow truck ?

YaHOOOOOO! Construction sets! I kick myself for not getting a couple of the Miners sets, but I hope I have the budget this time around.

Haw haw! I will never look at my daughter's Friends yacht the same way again!

The snow blower sounds great but another tow truck! I would of more rather the great series this time featuring different types of regular cars like an suv, pick up, hot rod, a corvette, an eco friendly electric car, a bmw and stuff like that.

My thoughts exactly. I do like the sound of new construction sets though.

I can see Construction getting the royal treatment this year. I don't have a bulldozer in my collection, mostly because the scale of the last one was just humorously colossal in comparison to the figs. So that's good news, I suppose. I'm also curious about that snowblower-- there's a special bond between a man and his snowblower, and it needs to be expressed in Lego form!

What I'm really REALLY hoping for next year is an updated service station/convenience store, hopefully in the $60USD range....

I love the construction theme! Sounds like they are adding a demolition twist to it this time around. Gonna be interesting to see what they come up with.

I would love for the tow truck to have somewhere to tow the vehicle to. It could be a junkyard or a garage, I don't care, just some cohesion between the sets. A gas station would be lovely in that regard, and I think they generally do pretty well from a kid standpoint.

the demo/ build site sets sound sweet. I missed out on the construction wave, so my kids and I will be looking forwad to them
