Thank you very much for these lists, CM4Sci, HomerJSimpson and ghostmind! :classic:

I'm a bit ambivalent which concerns the first half of 2015 City sets. On the one hand there seem to be - especially in the Great Vehicles theme - a lot of redesigns. On the other hand there are some sets which might have potential - esp. the City Starter Set, the snowplow and the Fire Starter Set. So finally only pics will let me decide.

With that low price the Fire Starter Kit for sure will only include one vehicle - supposably a equipment car. Don't you think?

What do you think the City Starter Kit will include? It's price is bigger that the 2013 set with the equal name and much bigger than the 2009 City Minifigure Collection. Maybe a civilian car, a bicycle, some minifigures (for sure a police officer will be included like in the 2009 one) and some accessory like a bench, a street lantern, street signs, ...?

Hopefully the summer will bring a airport theme.

Since we got airport sets already last year (these were only cargo but nevertheless) and since the last harbor theme was in 2011, I bet that the 2015 summer theme will be Harbor. Hopefully with not only redesigns, but something really new - like a yacht harbor (I know there had been one decades ago, but I don't count this one), a fishing harbor or / and a sailing boat.

How about a return of the farming subtheme? We haven't seen that one in a while.

If you're not allergic to Friends, Sunshine Ranch and its tractor could be counted as a new farm subtheme. The only and major problem is that Friends overfocuses on raising pets (not livestock) rather than agriculture things (except tree fruits). Edited by Dorayaki

Even Harbor I would love, as long as there is something original. I know there has to be a cargo harbor, I understand, for little kids, but I would love if there was, like, a retail exclusive $100 yacht, that has the old ship body, or something else original.

What I would love would be an exclusive tour boat, not from the city subtheme, but creator expert, there could be about 3 decks, and some details, like the cabin, a pool, and some sun chairs. The hull would be brick built. It WOULD be about $200, but it would be very big. I may actually start a topic for this...

A fishing theme would be great indeed. A nice fishing harbor with a larger boat and a small boat. A seperate boat set. A fish monger with a small truck and even a remake of the creator lighthouse.

I would say the biggest problem with Friends is that the animal moulds are not usable in a minifig setting!

Hopefully next years city line will include a new animal/colour mould like this years husky and polar bear

I assume TLG think Coast Guard things are more appealing to their major consumers like boys, while beach day things are pretty like exceptions or are a small part in the rescue scenarios. But yes, Fishery activity and other daily harbor scenes are good ideas.

Why not? Yes, some of the prints are alittle disturbing, but they work much better than putting minifigs and minidolls together. :sceptic: Edited by Dorayaki

Exactly. Lego thinks that all boys want is rescue sets, when it's really not. I see PLENTY of little kids buying a Star Wats set, or an ultra agents set, or even a creator house.

Looks like we'll have to wait at least another year before Lego produces the ever-elusive Safari/Wildlife/Zoo sub-theme. Don't worry minifigs, rhinos and hippos can be very dangerous animals so you are probably safer without them.

Lego makes lots of decisions that I find baffling, but the lack of a System-scale Zoo theme is the biggest head-scratcher of them all.

I'm wondering why Friends gets multiple buildings while City doesn't.

Hallo,

Heh. :classic:

But really, I would like to see more buildings in City, though. Not just police and fire stations.

there are more bildings. You just have to look in the Creator and Train section (and modular Bildings and Wintervillage and...).

Not to foreget all the other bildings within the police theme: museum, bank, hideouts...

Problem with the modulars is that I can't afford them :sadnew:.

I feel that smaller buildings could fit into the $20-30 dollar range for the City theme but I'm not sure.

I like the Friends Farm sets more than most of the City Farm sets. The little Friends farm stand and tractor is a really great set. I could see LEGO making a few vehicles like one holding pigs or something, but I don't see a full on Farm theme coming any time soon.

Unfortunately, for $20-$30, you won't get much of a building.

What I meant was if City theme if it had more buildings in it I was thinking some could be in that range but you might be right.

There are buckets for $15-$20 with a front face house a minicar and a minifig. For $10 more TLG could give the house some volume.

LEGO FIRE EMERGENCY 60003 costs $40. Change the truck with a 4 wide car and give some interior deco to the house and maybe you can have an interesting city set for only $30.

TLG could be creative and could launch some little shops like proposed at CUSSOO for $20-$30.

Launching some interesting buildings for $20-$30 is possible. TLG could make them "modular" or apilable (a set of a house floor that you can build upside the set of a shop) and depending of your budget you can make the buildings more o less high.

Not too thrilled with these sets. The Crook Shelter sounds interesting. Not really interested in construction sets. I groaned inwardly at more police sets, but at least the designers are trying fresh approaches. Forest Police turned out OK, so Water Police might too.

Im looking forward to the prophesied fjord police. Or maybe alpine police, with the CMF Tyrolean hats.

In the 90s, the racing theme was another big part of city, so back then I could justify the police presence by assuming they were busy investigating race match-fixing, racecar sabotage, rival team espionage, and the like. And speeding, of course.

Nowadays, I can only assume that LEGO City is ruled by some "law & order"-obsessed regime where the police has first call on available resourses, with nothing left for the other sectors of society. So everybode enlists into the force so they can have some job security and a decent standard of living. Kudos to the crooks for facing such oveerwhelming odds...

I could see no reason why they couldn't do buildings similar in size to e.g. the toy store in the 7848 Toys R Us truck. Or to the pizza place in the 60026 Town Square. Both could be done at a reasonable price point and if they had interesting subject matter, I would buy them.

Here's an idea.

Over in the Pirates forum, we are working on a proposal set line through our Ambassador.

What if Eurobricks as a whole, or at least the Town forum, started a group proposal through the Town Ambassador for a brief "Town Shops" line?

Here's what I'm thinking:

Using previous sets, we estimate about how many bricks we can use for a $20-$30 set. We then set up a thread where we can suggest building ideas for different(e.g., not likely released any other way) shops. We have a poll on them, and select 5-10 of the best ideas. We then have a short contest where we each build our own take on them, using recently released bricks in legal but creative ways, and we then poll on which is the best, until we have all 5-10 buildings.

Anyone else?

What are you talking about? We've had tons of buildings lately. Granted they have all been on fire being robbed or abandoned warehouses used for criminal enterprises... But we got building.

You know as I actually write it out it dawns on me that Lego City might actually be more violent than a Grand Theft Auto game?

Don't you mean "Zoo Police?"
