I'm a but underwelmed by these pictures. The swamp police thing just doesn't rock my boat, so I had my heart set on some gooed Great Vehicles and the Construction sets and, well, they're just a little simple. The small construction set vehicle, for example, has an in my opinion, ugly brick-built front. A shame, since we have a very nice new(er) piece for that, that was used in the nose of this year's camper. I'm hoping these are very preliminary pictures...

Wow... I am really disappointed by this first release of pics. Nothing in there really stands out. The demolition sets are even kind lame. They look like more simplistic versions of the mining sets. I'm actually most excited for Elsa's Castle and the Elves sets. My nieces are going to love them,

They're all a bit blah eh? Not bad, just not compelling in any way at all. Except the mog snowplough.

I'm saying this as a parent, not an AFOL - there's not much here that my kids (aged 2 and 4) will really want. They have enough police cars and diggers. By comparison, there are some 2013-2014 sets they really want (trains, log truck, car transporter, race car, monster truck, and all the Arctic stuff).

I know the purpoted rationale for why TLG keep making police stuff (sells to kids), but I can only go on what my kids say. They do like chasing the bad guys and putting them in jail. But they also like loading stuff up with cargo and moving it around, or playing out scenarios of car breakdowns, or holidays, or boat rescues. They're also increasingly wanting stuff like super-heroes, and the Lego Movie sets, compared to police-infested town.

I must admit that the city line doesn't do it for me, many of the sets look very simplistic. I was expecting a lot more from the swamp police theme, but this just looks to plain.

The snowplough looks great tough...

No, there was a portaloo with the 2005 construction tower crane.

That portaloo was a much better one. I lose.

I was also hoping for a similar release of that crane since I missed out the first time and the Lego Movie reminded me how nice it is to have construction cranes in your town.

I like the unimog snow plow. Hope those round 1x1 white tiles make it to the Pick A Brick wall. :classic:

Ah, but remember everyone......you can turn a police station into a shop.....office.....town house.....evil HQ......it's LEGO.

There are also new kids who haven't had a police set or station yet coming along every year. I think my friend's son is almost old enough for LEGO.

That is exactly how I feel. The sets are nice, but I don't want any of them. The only ones I like are the crook hideout and the hovercraft.

I had a similar reaction. The snowplow is a winner. My favourite CITY sets from 2014 were the LeMans car, Monster Truck, and Light Repair Truck - maybe in the second half of the year? I think the new tow truck is a nice one - two vehicles in one and a pretty broad selection of elements/colours, but it doesn't pop out of the range. The starters sets are pretty good too, I think - four figures and there's more than a handful of elements in them. Those clamoring for more construction sets ought to like what's coming.

Eh, the off-topic-diversion into 'wtf, more police' always happens so we may as well get it out of the way. :classic:

It's not that there shouldn't be police, or a digger or the other vanilla stuff. These are good playsets, staples of every Lego range since the year dot (or 1978 http://brickset.com/...-Town/year-1978).

But snowplough aside the 2015 1H images I saw didn't have anything standout additional. Construction stuff - fine - but is just mining reprised. The kids will want some police stuff, fine, no problem, loads to choose from. Where's the equivalent of Arctic? Wait for 2H? Or maybe it's just bricks, what does it really matter. Maybe I should go to bed.

Actually the swamp police station is different build wise plus a more realistic bulldozer and I don't mind the portaloo design at all.

I going to start digging up parts today to reverse engineer a few things.....if I can.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around "Swamp Police"...

What will they think of next? Arctic Police? SCUBA Police? Tundra Police? I figure we are a year or two out from Lego going full on meta turning in on themselves and accidentally releasing a "Fire Police" line, thus causing the universe to collapse in on itself. (And yes I know Fire Police are actually a real thing. But for the love of god please nobody tell Lego that!)

Is it just me, or does "swamp police" seem very American centric? I wonder if it's going to have a big international following.

A&E channel is shown around the world......i.e Swamp People, so maybe Lego's designers get their ideas from TV shows ?

I can't escape the feeling that these all look a little <insert that tiresome argument>; maybe its just the CGI they use on the boxes.
