Backgild Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I love the character selection at reasonable price points, but I'm a bit underwhelmed with the builds. Both of my kids were lucky and able to get Emmets car from the ToysRUs event, but both want Benny, so we will probably end up with four cars. Something else with the couch would have been preferable to me, but this is a good opportunity for those that missed out. I love the inclusion of the chair with the bad cop pursuit, but this set looks less interesting overall than the first bad cop set. I was hoping for something from the Wild West, but my wallet won't complain about a pass. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 (edited) GHOST VITRUVIUS! LEGO's way of saying "Screw you, people who didn't see it, it's been a year!" Seriously, that set is a perfect expansion pack. Two degrees of Unikitty sadness, Benny, Prez with a happy face, Benny, and the Car! And waffles! Perfection. The Car Chase is meh. I like the chair. That's pretty much it. Edited September 28, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
just2good Posted September 28, 2014 Author Posted September 28, 2014 I love how these three sets give you all of the main characters (besides Metalbeard)! Very clever way to do a third wave. I also wonder if Emmet's face is exclusive in the DDC set, as they're using the CMF version and LEGO usually never reprints CMFs. Alas, the reason I cannot share the source is because these aren't for immediate public viewing. If I shared it, it would not only be pointless as I have most of the pictures (and it took me around six hours to get them!), but I fear that amount of attention they'll get will lead them to not be able to share anymore for future times. PenPlays Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Oh wow! Although there's less sets this year, all three of them are really, really good! Batman & Super Angry Kitty Attack: "YAY!" We're getting a Super Angry Kitty! It's nice that we're getting another small Micro Manager with claws. The set in it's whole is pretty lackluster. It's worth it for the minifigs, though. Double Decker Couch: The minifig selection here is insane! I'm loving the waffle piece. And for the record, I think we need an equal amount of Benny variants as there are Emmet variants. :tongue So much for the exclusive small sets! Both Emmet's car and the Double Decker Couch from the Sea Cow won't be as valuable, or exciting. I'm no doubt picking this set up the day of it's release. Bad Cop Car Chase: I was so disappointed that there weren't parts included in the Bad Cop Pursuit set to build the car, so getting this as a full set is wonderful. It even includes a chair to kick! It's too bad that we aren't getting a Copper Chopper (at the moment). Seeing as the Cop-Bike is included in this set, it seems like happening even less. I love how every important character in the movie (that are included in these sets) is getting a new face variant. The Double Decker Couch is a MUST HAVE! Quote
KazeMonsuta Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Wow, the sets seem reasonably priced, look interesting and all have an inetresting minfigure lineup. Yep, great wave! Quote
Robert8 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 That Double Decker Couch set is weird. It looks like Benny, President Business, Unikitty and Ghost Vitruvius are hanging out in Emmet's apartment and they are making fun of Unikitty Ghost Vitruvius and a cheap Angrykitty are the highlight of this wave, for sure! Thanks for the pics! Quote
Darth Punk Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Just2good, great job. Love the pics. Definitely getting the double decker couch set, the minifig selection is going be a big hit. I agree the builds are ok, but is think the point of the sets is for people to get minifigs they might have missed in the larger sets. Quote
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Well, I love that we have a cheap option for Benny now. I'd buy the SpaceshipX3 if I had $100 to spare, but I don't. When's the last time Lego put out a small set with 4-5 figures in it? I don't think we've seen much of that since the classic Town days, or maybe even some City sets from a few years ago. Quote
Lyichir Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 It even includes a chair to kick! It's too bad that we aren't getting a Copper Chopper (at the moment). Seeing as the Cop-Bike is included in this set, it seems like happening even less. Technically the cop-bike IS the Copper Chopper—they were "released" from the unnamed twin-rotor helicopter, but many assumed Bad Cop was referring to the helicopter itself. The Double Decker Couch set has loads of great new figs and prints (Finally, a smiling President Business!). I wonder if Emmet's car is any different from the Toys 'R' Us variety? It might at least feature a printed or stickered tile or slope for the car radio. I'll definitely be getting this one, since even though it'll net me another Emmet's car, I'll get a Double Decker Couch (my little brother got the Sea Cow, so I'm couchless) and all those spectacular figs. Batman and Super Angry Kitty is a decent enough set for its size. I'll get it since I lack a Lego Movie-style Batman fig, didn't get any of the sets with Micro-Managers, and no amount of Unikitties is too many. Bad Cop's car is a decent set, too. Finally, Wyldstyle gets new face prints, and the new Good Cop is the first one since the previous Bad Cop set. I might as well get this and complete the trio, whether or not I get this year's Bad Cop's Pursuit in the near future. The one main character who's absent from all three sets is Metalbeard. I keep putting off purchasing Metalbeard's Duel, and since my little brother has the Sea Cow (as I mentioned before), that set is my only chance to pick up Metalbeard. Need to buckle down and buy it before the year is through. Quote

Big-whoop-Guybrush Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Love the double decker couch. Will definitely be getting this. Is that unikitty the one they showed off at sdcc where people thought it was alluding to the existence of the submarine set ? Quote

Mikuri Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Wow! I might get another Lego Movie set or two after all :)! The couch and the batman sets are nice for minifigures! Especially the couch! I'm so getting it :)! Quote
Big-whoop-Guybrush Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Do we have any idea when these are coming out in 2015? Quote
Agent Fusion Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I'd say January, but I'm not certain. Quote
Thelegomaster Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 How much are these in USD, I might get all three on day one. Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 How much are these in USD, I might get all three on day one. I think they are probably going to be $10, $20, and $30. Quote
Agent Fusion Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Batman and Angry Kitty is $9.99 Double Decker Couch is $19.99 Bad Cop is $24.99 (I think) Quote
Aanchir Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 70819 Bad Cop Car Chase is definitely the best set in terms of its non-minifigure contents, since it includes two vehicles from the movie that hadn't been seen in any form in previous sets. Not to mention Bad Cop's chair, which should get a chuckle out of anybody who's watched the movie and realizes he brings that with him everywhere. It's great that Wyldstyle finally gets some new expressions, and that Good Cop is now available in another set (with a new expression for both him and Bad Cop, at that)! The Robo-SWATs are just more of the same, of course, but I guess army builders will like them. Though I sort of have to wonder whether the creators of the movie might have introduced more Robo-SWAT designs in the film itself if they knew the sets would have enough momentum for a 2015 wave. 70818 Double Decker Couch set will definitely be appreciated by many people for making both the couch and Emmet's car more widely available, though. Hopefully Emmet's car has a printed or stickered tile for his radio — it looks like it might, and that's one of the major things the Toys 'R' Us version lacked. Also, it's great to finally have a President Business minifigure who isn't angry. Ghost Vitruvius is a nice and unexpected surprise, especially considering he uses a new mold for his shroud. And the new Unikitty is of course fantastic, especially since like the SDCC version, she features a printed plate for her eyebrows which will increase the number of expressions that are possible for the previous Unikitty and Bizniz Kitty faces. And #70817, which we've already seen at Comic-Con, looks great. It's good to finally see that Batman has not one but TWO new expressions. I just now noticed that Super Angry Kitty's eyes are printed on the 1x3 plate for her forehead, so the entire 1x3 brick is used for her mouth decoration. I can picture some hilarious uses for that part, particularly with some eyes from the Mixels sets! The Micro-Manager is simple but effective, and is pretty good to include in a new set since when these come out all the previous sets with Micro-Managers (other than the Sea Cow) will be a year old. I still think it's kind of bizarre that Emmet's Constructo-Mech didn't include any of those... I guess they didn't want to drive up the price of an already big set. Random observation: the Piece of Resistance doesn't appear in any of these sets. All things considered, these sets look great in terms of both minifigure and non-minifigure contents. I wonder if we'll see any additional LEGO Movie sets in the summer, or if these three are their swan song for the time being. Certainly it feels like most of my character-related hopes for the theme have been satisfied. The only brand-new character designs I could really hope for in sets at this point would be Michelangelo, Shaquille O'Neal, and Robo-Wyldstyle. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Wait. I just realized Vitruvius uses the 1x2x2 brick with printing on it, since the slope wouldn't allow for his shroud to fit. Was that in the movie? I never noticed that. Quote
Gremer Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I may just be missing it, but where is Bad Cop's chair? Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 It's in the second image for the set. Quote
klinton Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 I was hoping for a little bit more substance. These seem like minifig packs, with some small builds tossed in. I'm stoked for Ghost Vitruvius, more than anything else here. I've been wanting him, so I'm super chuffed that he's coming! Sad Kitty and 'Super Angry' Kitty are fun too. The cheap Skeletron is a nice bonus as well. I love the cop car and bike set! And more Robo SWAT guys are always welcome. This set is pretty much perfect. I'm not super stoked for these, but I'm not overly dissapointed either. There are some good bits, along side a whole lot of rehash. Quote
