Big Sal Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Presenting the UU-224 'Hammerhead' Submersible - a neo classic space submarine built for the contest on the Brickset forum. Couple more pics on flickr. Thanks for looking! Quote
fossil1999 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Cool. I like all that use of SNOT techniques. I am wondering about that fan at the back. I was under the impression that for fans to work, they need have water passing through them?(Hope that makes sense) Overall, I think the colours and the angular windscreen give it a classic look. Well done. Edited July 20, 2014 by fossil1999 Quote
Lady K Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Nice build! Great details. I like the colors. The windscreen piece is a good choice given the size of the sub. Any interior? Quote

Let's just say it's a futuristic quantum-ion-fusion fan that works differently Any interior? Not yet - the part limit for the contest is 338, and this is 337 parts so I didn't have enough pieces left! Plan to add an interior once the contest is over though - there's plenty of space inside... DPrime Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 I like this a lot. To be quite honest, spaceships would probably look a lot more like submarines than jet fighters. :) Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Amazing MOC! As others said, excellent color choice, idea, and build in general. Wish you luck in the Brickset competition! Quote
K-Nut Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Very nice! I love the SNOT and the mix of new and old parts into a seemless ship. Quote
Big Sal Posted September 1, 2015 Author Posted September 1, 2015 I've now made a Futuron version: There are a few more pics on flickr. Thanks for looking! Quote
James Wellington Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Both are great. They have a tad of a classic feel in them, but they have a very clean, smooth, new, feeling to them. I really, really like both of them. If that was a set, i'd buy it surely. Great job! Quote
DPrime Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I wonder if these would be used for Classic Space recovery at sea, since spaceships tend to land in the ocean upon returning to earth. :) I toyed with the idea of doing a boat for this purpose. There's a nice hull in old grey and blue (unfortunately, mine belonged to a kid who sawed through it). Quote
