dikkie klijn Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Those front tires look good for a proper F1 car to..... Quote
zux Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 look like amazing road/racing tiresany ideas on the dimensions? I'd say some 81mm... Text on a side of a tyre states it is 81.6x44 Quote
Doc_Brown Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I'm definitely going to use them on my next hot rod! Quote
D3K Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 2 kg of black bricks you say? When he said "front suspension" in the film, my heart raced a little, then I realized it wasn't really suspension... Still, good idea to use the 3x11 panels for rigidity! The wheels will indeed look great on formula 1 cars, as "wet weather tyres" or something! Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The designer looks so hyped up, he's funny Quote
aol000xw Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 So the tyres are actual rubber and not the like the Unimog ones. Quote
therealjustin Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Huh? I'm sure the tires are the same rubber compound, just different shape. This is a must-have for me! The size is awesome and the details are too. The exclusive minifigs are just a bonus! Quote
750ACE Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 $199 what does it do, it rolls. I was hoping that video and or tumbler would have been better. I mean he says suspension but I dont exactly understand why he used that choice of wording. Oh well still cool and I do want one. Quote
Erik Leppen Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 So, definitely no steering and suspension. They really went the "this is a display model" route. Too bad. Doesn't make the wheels less cool though :P Quote
Rishab N Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I was hoping for steering and suspension like everyone else Still looks really good though. 2 kg of bricks sounds good to me. So is the entire chassis going to be technic pieces? Quote
jantjeuh Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I'll skip the model and just buy the tires probably It lacks too much functionality (no steering, no suspension, no way to RC it) to be interesting to me, and I don't really care for the minifigs (Technic 4 lyfe, u no). Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I do hope the rubber is softer...Usually the wheels up to 80-ish mm are from softer rubber. Quote
peter_m Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Woah... 205 Euro in Polish S@H... not a chance :( Quote
Paul Boratko Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Bricklink sellers are expecting the minifigures to fetch between $50 to $75 each... Like I said before, selling them off would be very practical if you buy this set and have no interest in them... @Anio I am hoping that you are right about those black axle friction pins making a return... The return of those pins will be devastating for sellers that have been hoarding them up on Bricklink as Meatman's link shows... Quote

Paul Boratko Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) Seems unrealistically high, are there any other minifigs that sell for that much? Every minifigure collector wants that Heath Ledger Joker Figure... My wife was selling the Hulk minifigure from the 6868 set for $25 and that was only a $50 set(Wallmart clearanced out 1000's of them for $35 USD) So I don't think the Joker or the Batman figure selling for $50 is unrealistic at all since they are only available in this $200 set... Not to mention that is just the US price... Everyone else around the world has to pay much more for the set... I expect a feeding frenzy for the figures when this set first launches... I had no idea people were that crazy for minifigs. 2kg of black bricks + 2 new (but very wide) tires + 2 3x11 black panels + 4 Unimog tires + no functionality does not equal $200 of value for me, not by a long shot. Even selling the figures off for $50 each wouldn't make it worthwhile, IMO. I'm very puzzled why Lego didn't at least add steering. AFOLs have shown it can be done well at smaller scales than this. Paul Boratko Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Unreal. I had no idea people were that crazy for minifigs. Trust me, it's crazier than you can imagine.. Do a search on Ebay for "Custom Lego Minifigures" and look what people are paying... Also, I think October is double VIP points from Lego Shop-At-Home, so that is more incentive to buy this expensive set... Quote
Blakbird Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 The mini figure market is ridiculous. Years ago I sold my Cloud City and my Watto's Junkyard with the minifigs. Only later I discovered that everyone else was selling them without the minifigs. Lando alone was selling for $300. Quote
Doc_Brown Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Hmm, suspension was the wrong term to use! Chassis or support would have been better. I'm disappointed with the lack of functions as well, but then again, for 99% of its life it will just sit there doing nothing looking pretty. hehe. What do we all think those tires will sell for each? Quote
