Pizzareno Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Just as the title asks. I was researching for my latest MOC and came upon a whole lot of posts from her. But I see she has been offline for over a year. Anyone aware of where she has gone? Quote
Bricktrain Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Annie, and Alan Smith hasnt been around for ages. Quote
JopieK Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 no indeed! they must have other priorities I guess?! Quote
MaineBrickFan Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I've always had the same question about kuypher. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 You could try sending them a PM, in case they are still watching their associated email account they should get a notice Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I did PM her a while ago to see where she was as had not seen any posts recently. I know on a couple of occasions she mentioned that she was not in the best of health so I assumed she had taken a turn for the worst or something. Trouble is with the internet it is great for making friends globally but not so good at actually keeping them together if they get ill. I mean didn't she live in the middle of Australia or new Zealand, somewhere over there, it is a long trip for someone to just pop around and knock on the door to ask if she is OK! Unless anyone lives there of course? Quote

Unless anyone lives there of course? She lives in New Zealand, and was active on an Australian and NZ blog, but has dropped off the radar there too. The AFOL scene in NZ seems to have taken off in the last couple of years so I hope she just has AFOLs a lot closer to talk to now. I hope she is well. Quote
Pizzareno Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 Yeah I gather she is/was in New Zealand but I haven't seen or heard anything. Mind you my participation in the AFOL scene here has only been for the last 18 months or so. Thanks for people's help and interest. I asked the question in the hope that someone on here might have had a closer relationship than just this forum and may have known. I was particularly interested as she seemed to be modeling NZ Railways as that is my interest and I have not found really anyone here that has that does that in LEGO too. I see she was in her 60s but that isn't really old and hearing that she didn't have good health makes me think the worst. Completely forgot about sending a PM so I will do that and let you know if I get a response. Quote
Locomotive Annie Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Hello everyone, just a quick note to say that I'm not dead or anything. I have had a lot of problems with my health and as a result I haven't really done anything of significance with Lego for a long time. My cat Devastator the Terrible (not really her name) managed to destroy a good deal of my town and rail yards while i was ill so sometime soon I'm hoping to plan out how I might rebuild it. All my steam locos and rolling stock have survived just fine though which is the main thing. Quote
CamelBoy68 Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Hi Annie, its good to hear you are ok The troubles with your cat reminds me of an old Goodies episode.... Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Hey LA, good to see you round these parts again. Keep on the up and up. Quote
Hey Joe Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Hi Annie, It's good to see you back on board here. Joe Quote
JopieK Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Welcome Back Annie! And hope you get totally well soon! Quote

I think you should erect a statue for Devastator the Terrible for the immense damage she did to your town ;). I always try to think of it as an excellent oppertunity for a new start... when I'm over the OMG bit. Quote
Electricsteam Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I know this is an older post but I have been thinking a lot about Annie these last few weeks. I needed a space to let out some thoughts and emotions as time is always marching forward and life changes and we loose folks we knew. She has been missing in action for quite a long time now just over 6 years. I fear the worst since her last post was about health issues but hope she is still around but where ever she maybe. She really shaped how I saw Lego Trains when I just first started to dive into it all those years ago and I am incredibly thankful for it. She helped me enjoy all the fun and weird designs you can put into Lego unlike anything else. She showed us that no matter what type of brick you have no matter your age no matter where you are in the world just enjoying Lego is something that can all bring us together. She will always be A Perfect 317. Thank you Annie where ever you are. Quote

Last visited the site in 2017 according to her profile. So, she was still looking at this place 3 years ago. I hope she's okay - I've been on other forums where people have just vanished, and it can mean anything from "they're dead, Jim" to "they found something else to do". The not knowing is kind of disturbing for people who know and interact with them regularly online until they just drop off the radar. Quote
SteamSewnEmpire Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Sometimes circumstances change - doesn't necessarily mean someone has died. People start families, lose interest, etc. I wouldn't fret too much. Quote

This is why I put that out there just a little closure for myself. And those who might feel the same way. Quote
