Welcome to MANTIS Ivan Wolf and engineer Max! Your resumes are currently going through our system. Assuming all goes well, you will be granted access to classified data.

You may begin building for MANTIS domination immediately! Once you are granted access to classified data, you will know which planets we are targeting. We all look forward to what you will bring to the table. Our CEO, Big Sal, will be clearing your resumes and sending out the code you will need to access the data (PM invitation).

Welcome to the team!

I am Engineer Max and I am joining MANTIS as Special Forces. I grew up on Earth and got a job as a train driver. Strangely I was never able to overcome my desire to be like childhood hero Biff Barker (Mars Mission astronaut) and so I traveled to the stars. And now here I am working for MANTIS corporation. 20927965552_096c9323c3_q.jpgEngineer Max Space version by Kees van Liere, on Flickr

OK, here is the avatar for Ivan Wolfe. 20928871982_a800860155_q.jpgCharacter by BrickRailz4884, on Flickr

Please provide a 100x100 pixels character picture, thanks.

Engineer Max. I had the same problem when I first started. I think I cropped the image to be a square before I uploaded them. If the image is rectangle it only lets me select 100 x 75. When I cropped it, it let me select 100 x100. there may be better ways to do it in flickr though.

Edit: If you click in the lower left corner to the edit photo icon a list appears. Click edit in Aviary. Then you will want to crop the photo square. This will let you resize when you crop the photo. Hope this helps.

Thanks :classic:

Speaking of sigfigs, I uploaded a 100 x 100 sigfig earlier but in the player index it just says "sigfig posted" (or something like it). Did I do anything wrong?

Seems like you used the EB gallery to upload your picture and its now gone... You should host it on Flickr or any web hosting site you use.

Thanks for the clarification Bob! Would this suffice?

I know there's a lot of stuff to score, but when can we expect results to be posted for Challenge 2?

If I would have to take a guess, I would say today, since the rules state that the normal rules apply : )

Posted (edited)

My guess would be today or tomorrow since the Cat A and C builds should have been scored as they came in, so there are just Cat Bs.

The problem is not really scoring, but dealing with problems like late entries for example. We have to agree on some decisions, and it takes time.

That seems pretty unfair to those of us who followed the rules and entered our creations on time.

Does it really matter? Octan sweeped it regardless.

I agree, I know people how didn't bother to post but were almost finished.

If you make actual consequences for late entries then it will stop happening or will allow the judges to fall back on a written rule instead of backdoor conversations about who should be allowed in. They have a hard enough time with judging, now they have to decide whether someone deserves to be included even if they did not follow the rules?

Here is my solution: for every hour an entry is late, it should be docked one point. If it is ten hours late (or seven for a weekly build), then it is not allowed at all. Simple, black and white, no wiggle room.

I like Shmail's solution... except that, if I had known that, I might have tried to get a few hours late entry in. But I agree that there should be a stringent and consistently applied rule on the subject.
