I just wanted to ask the owners: Is there anything going on in the Jokerland "Hall of Mirrors" besides the opening/closing doors? Or is that it? If it's empty, I might put the clown cannon in the doorway.

There isn't much going on but it's clever - you stand a minifig at the entrance and they are at the right height to appear in the Joker image (hair, smile, suit) at the end of the hall. It's a nice little touch.

I think he just needs a red hip piece, then he'll look great. Now when will they do this for Flash?

Hopefully the next time we get a set with Flash.

And apparently I was wrong.

That's really neat!

I really don't like the Superman with boots, I don't hate all minifigures with boots, but this doesn't look right to me.

It doesn'took right because it needs a red hip piece.

Are there any other heroes, DC or otherwise, that would have red legs with yellow boots? We could quite possibly see those appear on another character before Flash gets them.

Does it cost more for Lego to make the dual-colored legs in general or just the first time? Would them making dual-colored legs for one character be expensive, in the same way that making a whole new piece would be? I'm just wondering if maybe these legs and the lack of a New 52 Superman could be indicative of a Superman set in the near future with his boots and new torso print.

It'd be perfect if we'd gotten the New 52 Superman torso... :sadnew:

Shazam does, though I doubt we'll see him in a set anytime soon.

Krikkit, it is cool man! It is nice to have the comparison of the three batboats including 7780.

I just wonder if you happen to have other bat-vehicles from the 2006-2008 era. There seems to be none other than 7780 after searching through your flickr feed.

Can you post more of those bat-vehicles or maybe even do the comparisons of them with the current DC line bat-vehicles?

I think a lot of us here would like to see that.

My interest was gained in the 2013 erra. The hovercraft was bought only a week back and has parts missing, currently rebuilding.

I have 3/5 batmobiles, usc and t he bane tumbler not the black one. Have the bat wing and plane, but not the original from the batcave...do want it though.

Also, need the batmobiles from the ice cream set and two face set.

How much did the used 7780 hovercraft cost?

I got the used 7781 batmobile with all 3 minifigs at 100 USD (all costs included). I gotta say it is a freaking awesome batmobile.

7888 The tumbler still costs much, even a used one. I am not sure I will be able to get it in this lifetime. LOL.

By the way, I am also a batman freak. Post some more lego-batman stuff in your flickr. Look forward to that.

I'm also a proud collector. I have every single DC Super Heroes set based on the comics with the exception of the 2012 Batwing set. I have no need for the figures, but I wanted the Batwing. I missed out on the old '06-'07 Batman theme, so I've been trying hard to make up for it.

I hope I can still find a Batzarro DVD. I've put it off for too long, and I need him for my minifig collection.

Jokerland was a real disappointment for me. The play features are few and far between and the ones that are there don't really work. The cannon is awful. It just feels like the bones of something greater.

Harley and Robin are the only real plus points for me. Otherwise it's just a great, colourful parts pack.

It's interesting to hear that opinion, since my impression from the Toy Fair demonstration had been that the play features worked very well. What else went wrong besides the cannon and, presumably, the Super Jumper?

I do have to respectfully disagree with the argument that there are few play features. I think it's packed!

Joker's ride/Toxic Tank:

Jokerland clown's eyes and hat move

Tongue of clown launches figure down slide

Hall of mirrors opens/closes, mirror can match up to a minifig

Penguin's Deadly Duckies:

Ducky ride moves

Sign platform can be toppled

Harley's Wheels of Fire:

Harley's bike rides down track

Captive can be knocked off of bike

Ivy's Carnivore Fall

Free fall drops when plant is tipped back

Other:

Cannon fires (however weakly)

Stud-shooters and spring-missiles on Batmobile.

I think it seems like an excellent playset, but I can see some problems and I don't expect my impressions of it to be "perfection".

My only criticisms would be:

* It seems a bit small or empty. Supplementing it with the stalls from the Fairground Mixer and the Funhouse set should improve the park as a whole, but it does seem to suffer in terms of display value.

* More new minifig designs would have been greatly appreciated, as well as improving the new ones we have (lighter colors for Beast Boy would have worked better, and Harley looks bad with a hat).

I don't think that the boots on Superman are too high... He wears really high boots up to his knees in the comics, sooo...I think that is fitting. Looks really good to me, he would need a red hip piece, though - as someone stated before!

I'll respond to the individual play features below, but just a note that the Super Jumper is involved with a lot (if not most) of them...

I do have to respectfully disagree with the argument that there are few play features. I think it's packed!

Joker's ride/Toxic Tank:

Jokerland clown's eyes and hat move

Tongue of clown launches figure down slide

Hall of mirrors opens/closes, mirror can match up to a minifig

The tongue doesn't launch backwards - it tips forwards. The eye movement is alright but the hat is unnecessary as it's just as easy to move the hat itself than use the gear on the back. For the centerpiece of the set, the play features for interacting with minifigures are very limited.

Penguin's Deadly Duckies:

Ducky ride moves

Sign platform can be toppled

I did enjoy the spinning ride, but an exploding function would have been welcome - i.e. to make one of the ducks pop out (and therefore 'rescue' Beast Boy).

Harley's Wheels of Fire:

Harley's bike rides down track

Captive can be knocked off of bike

The bike is held upright with Technic liftarms which are a pain to line up, so Harley will often get stuck. The sign at the top has to be held up by the bike, too - if the bike's not at the top, the sign falls down. The point of this is that Batman's supposed to jump up with the super jumper, knock the sign over and push Harley down the tightrope... sending Robin into the burning dustbins at the other end (?!).

Ivy's Carnivore Fall

Free fall drops when plant is tipped back

Yes, and that's about it. Not very interesting...

Other:

Cannon fires (however weakly)

Stud-shooters and spring-missiles on Batmobile.

The cannon is abysmal as noted previously. Most people will probably have formed an opinion on the stud-shooters and spring-missiles by now as they've been in other sets, but I will say that the spring-missiles here are cleverly incorporated, while the stud-shooters seem out of place and tacked on.

It's not a terrible set, but it does feel like one massive missed opportunity, and that more play features could have been added quite easily without adding to the part count too much. I'd have quite happily done without the Batmobile to give more depth and playability to the eponymous section of the set...

I think Superman looks good with the boots, he just needs a hip piece. So many of the other JLA members have them now (except Flash who arguably needs them to most, after Wonder Woman) that he looks plain next to them. It probably doesn't help that he's the only one without his modern costume, either.

Are there any other heroes, DC or otherwise, that would have red legs with yellow boots? We could quite possibly see those appear on another character before Flash gets them.

Does it cost more for Lego to make the dual-colored legs in general or just the first time? I'm just wondering if maybe these legs and the lack of a New 52 Superman could be indicative of a Superman set in the near future with his boots and new torso print.

I'd hope they would use gold for the aforementioned Shazam (at least assuming it will be his modern costume and not classic...that might be foolish of me) but maybe Firestorm? I think he's got a decent shot at appearing since he is a part of The CW's Arrowverse. Atom and Black Canary would be nice too. If they could put Hawkman in a set, who has had almost no exposure outside of comics recently, then those three should have some sort of chance.

I imagine that dual-molded legs would be more expensive than regular ones, but because it requires some sort of dual molding. Just speculating, I don't actually know how the cost would be factored. I could see Spider-Man's legs being reused for a New 52 Superman, though. It also wouldn't surprise me if his BVS minifigure next year has boots to differentiate him from the MOS figure (since the costumes are so similar).

Let's see: This year, Marvel had a pretty large toyline for Avengers, a single tie-in for Ant-Man, and a couple of sets for USM. Maybe if BVS doesn't get as many sets as AoU did (which might be reasonable, depending on how many things Bats and Supes have to punch besides each other) then maybe we can get sets for BVS, a couple for Suicide Squad, and some comic book Justice League. Or, we can dream about it all. That's nice too, at least until we wake up.

Thanks for the insight. I'd say a big problem is that LEGO wants people to use the Super Jumpers, which are just plain frustrating. Several of the play features would work just fine manually activated, which is what kids did before. Putting one of the duckies on a loose connection or flick-fire would have been great, since that's the only ride without a conceivable rescue plan. I feel like Harley's ride's function is for her to threaten Robin, but using the Jumper to activate it seems like nonsense in such a case...And it's only one-way. Ivy's ride could have been improved by a handle for moving the ride up and down. A full ring of seating would have been nice, too. No problems I can see with the clown, except that there's literally no way provided for Batman to reach the platform. Is Starfire supposed to fly up to do it?

Well, thanks for your valid opinions. But I still haven't changed my mind. To quote the Joker himself:

"Don't like it? I'm crazy for it."

I personally think Lego should do a JL wave of 3 sets in January, a B>S wave in March with 3-4 sets, an UCS of some sort (Hall of Doom would be my first choice though) in April, and 3 SS sets in August.

Well with the Big Bang Theory CUUSOO/Ideas set coming out there's an actual Flash t-shirt with red and blue dual molded arms. Pretty cool.

£20

£20 including the killer croc boat and the two minifigs?

If so, it is a deal, it is a steal, it is the sale of the freaking century ,man...

£20 even just for the batboat alone can already stain my pants.

Lucky you, bro! You totally nailed it. I wish I could have deals like that.

Hyperion, over at Marvel.

Looking at the Jokerland instructions, I wonder why there are two knobs for the eyes of the clown. Since the eyes are linked by the gears, wouldn't one knob in the middle suffice? Looking at the way it's built is nice, because there are some really interesting and clever techniques used.

I also found this

of the set. I didn't realize before how nice Harley's face printing was. Edited by 8BrickMario

Gotta love the Green Lantern lantern in the Big Bang Theory set. (It has a better one than in the actual GL set.) :laugh_hard:

Also, the set has blue and (dark) red micro figs, one of which could be used for The Atom? Maybe? *oh2**huh*

Bought Jokerland today. Has anyone else on here gotten it? I'm curious about the Harley Minifigure as I think mine has been misprinted. Mine has a black smudge on her right cheek, and an extra black mark on her teeth making her look a bit 'hillbilly'.

She doesn't have these features on the box art, can anyone else shed some light on the matter?
