Steph 104th Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Ooh, the Arkham one would be awesome! Much better choice. Quote
Legoman123 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I highly doubt the hairpiece is a stand in unfortunately. Quote
Brickcraz Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I am disappointed with the Upcoming minefiguers in general. They could've given us a Killer Croc or Mad Hatter, but instead we get repeated figuers. The best minefiguers that are coming out in the next wave our Deathstroke,Starfire, and Beast Boy. Quote
Sir Gareth Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) I think the reason Harley didn't recieve the new hairpiece is it isn't in circulation yet. Series 14 doesn't actually come out until October. Princess Leia uses the Forest Maiden hairpiece, and Green Goblin uses the Goblin headpiece, but that's only because both pieces were already in production. Edited March 4, 2015 by Sir Gareth Quote
8BrickMario Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Possible, but I don't see how the piece wouldn't be used first in Jokerland and later in the CMFs. Just introduce the mold earlier. And at least a few of them have already been produced, since we've seen 11 of the physical S14 figs. I'm just crossing my fingers for a red/blue Squad-comics version that has the hair, because it's a waste to not include it on any version of Harley, and in my opinion, it's the most likely. LEGO can close her corset and make it a one-piece costume like the Jokerland one, and they'll have a colorful, interesting figure. I only prefer the N52 Squad version because the hair matches the costume colors and replaces the jester hat better than blonde hair. Although I wouldn't object too much to one of the Arkham versions with blonde pigtails. Edited March 5, 2015 by 8BrickMario Quote
Captain Nemo Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm sure the Harley jester hat instead of hair is just both parts convenience and laziness. Obviously, it's easier for Lego to just use Harley's hat since it's already in production. It would cost more to use the new CMF hair mold (that would work well) as it would need to be re-painted. Regardless I think it's lazy to not use it--largely because the hat just makes the figure look terrible. I wonder how the Harleen Quinzel hair would look? Either way, it does come off as lazy. As I've said before, the success of the Superhero line depends largely on how well the figures are designed (because as we know, the characters are by far the most important part of the theme)--so Lego needs to keep up the great quality they had in the previous DC wave. Frankly it's really just the stupid choices like Harley's jester hat use and Green Goblin's horrendous leg printing that annoy me the most about the Superhero theme. I can stomach meh builds if it means we get amazing figures--but meh figures? Quote
phanstasm Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Possible, but I don't see how the piece wouldn't be used first in Jokerland and later in the CMFs. Just introduce the mold earlier. I don't think that's possible. Themes are assigned a production budget, which includes the cost to develop new parts. You could only shift production of the hair piece earlier for Harley if the development costs for the hair were factored into the DC Super Heroes budget. Edited March 5, 2015 by phanstasm Quote
8BrickMario Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I understand why they would underdesign a fig to sell future versions-Batman's new boots for example- but when the resulting minifigure is both really inaccurate and awful-looking, I can't support that decision. They could have rereleased the jester look if they just HAD to reuse that hat piece, but combining it with the New 52 look just doesn't work at all. But they probably will make her red/blue look in the future to profit off of the pigtail hairpiece. Quote
phanstasm Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) They could have rereleased the jester look if they just HAD to reuse that hat piece, [...]. I totally agree. In fact, I'm surprised that they didn't reuse the jester torso and legs. It's only appeared in one exclusive Super Heroes set (Fun House), so most people only have one. To me, it would have made more sense to redesign Ivy, since that design appeared in two Super Hero sets (Batcave and Arkham). I love that Ivy design, but I don't need three. The 1st being Batcycle and Harley quinns hammer truck. Quote
8BrickMario Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Actually 2 sets. The 1st being Batcycle and Harley quinns hammer truck. That set was not in the Super Heroes theme, though. Harley's only appearance in this theme was the Funhouse. Quote
Robianco Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Actually 2 sets. The 1st being Batcycle and Harley quinns hammer truck. That was actually a different version of the Harlequin torso with rounded collar pieces... Not the same as the Funhouse version. Quote
8BrickMario Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Right, the Truck version was from B:TAS. Ironically, though, none of the Harleys have been accurate...her hat never had a "widow's peak". Quote
hockeyboy89 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Man, all this b*tching for a damn hair piece? It is source material after all, just depends on your source. I thought the Raven nuts were bad. Quote
8BrickMario Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 No need to be rude. The problem some of us have is that the minifigure does not match the source material, that is, Harley Quinn #1 in the New 52. The fact that LEGO has designed an appropriate hairpiece that would work rather well for the figure just makes it seem more lazy or poorly designed since it does not have it. Most Super Heroes figs drive the sales for sets, so when they're inaccurate and/or look poorly designed, there's less reason to want the set. Quote
Brickcraz Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 You are exactly correct, and that is why it isn't worth it to buy the new Jokerland set. It is pricy and the minefiguers don't make up for it. My advice is to get Star Fire and Beast Boy on Amazon or E-Bay Quote

Why is the Squad version so awful? Personally, I couldn't care less which version of DS we get, and I think the one we get looks good enough. It might be less useful to mold a new helmet for him, anyway, since it's unlikely that he would appear in more sets. Quote

We could've gotten a new helmet with two eyeholes that they could've used again, with Slade's eyepatch blacking out the one. That would've been nice. And with as much as DC loves Deathstroke and plastering him on everything, I'd say this isn't the last time we see him in a set. Edited March 6, 2015 by Numbuh1Nerd Quote
