We're just concerned that LEGO isn't very gender-inclusive anymore. Granted, Friends sets are actually LEGO, unlike Bellville, but they're still glaringly separate. Since the DC theme is a typical action-based theme with minifigures, a calmer minidoll spinofff will attract more controversy than a completely separate theme. And if it uses minidolls, it'll be a huge blow to my minifig collection if it means we won't get regular minifigs of Katana, Black Canary, Hawkgirl, and the like. But we should calm down and wait for more info before we go crazy.

I'd say it means we most likely won't see the likes of Katana, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, or Bumblebee any time soon. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are in that gray area of being one of very few mainstream Batman villains, so they might wind up sticking in their cycle of reproduction as minifigs, especially since Lego isn't getting much use from the Jester cap otherwise. Although, this might explain why we got yet another Harley and Ivy this year and our brand new Wonder Woman: perhaps they were parting gifts?

Most of those characters have already been done, and I don't think doing the same characters as minidolls will prevent them from continuing to do them as minifigures, any more than the existence of DUPLO Toy Story figures kept them from making Toy Story minifigures, or any more than the upcoming Star Wars constraction figures will prevent thrm from ever making minifigures of Luke and Vader again.

LEGO can and probably will continue to use the jester cap for Harley no matter what, even if they stopped doing minifigures of her and went minidoll-only, since minidolls and minifigures wear compatible hair and headgear (and they also just used the jester hat in the new, wholly comics-unrelated birthday cake set, anyway). But we know for a fact they're not done making all these characters as minifigures, anyway - Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn both are coming out in add-on packs for LEGO Dimensions.

It's possible that one or more of the female DC characters that have already gotten minifigures might have gotten the last ones they're going to get, but that's true for lots of non-female characters as well, if they're not especially major characters - there might never be another Killer Croc minifigure, for example. But I strongly doubt they're going to just categorically stop putting female minifigures in sets across the board, just because they'll also be doing minidoll versions of those same characters. I think the two lines will coexist.

Yes! I agree! I swear, why can't they just throw in regular female superheroes and stop all of this Friends nonsense?!

Honestly, I don't know where everyone suddenly got the idea that these are going to be minidoll sets. Call me old-fashioned, but I think it makes sense to wait until we've seen some pictures before running shirtless into the street wailing about the end of days. In my experience, rampant speculation like this based on next to no info is more often than not a fool's errand, so let's all take a deep breath and calm down until we've got something concrete.

Thank goodness. Somebody who actually makes some sense around here.

I think LEGO has gotten more than enough usage out of the jester hat. Now that they have the pigtails, I assume most future versions of Harley will use those instead.

I'm not worried about them making Minidoll DC sets and deciding to never include another female character in minifigure sets - its just not going to happen. My main concern is that they'll throw some highly desired female characters (yes, I mean Raven) in a minidoll set and then we'll never see them in minifigure form.

Did WB say anything about Suicide Squad sets or toys in general at that liscensing expo?

It feels like they're only including the bare minimum of female figures in the DC sets as it is, though. We got Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy, and I'd say we only got Wonder Woman because literally every other Justice League member so far was in that wave. Again, Harley and Ivy have the added bonus of being Batman villains. This minidolls thing just sounds like the perfect excuse for them to wipe the main theme of any new heroines and villainesses, especially ones that are going to be involved in the DC Girls thing like Katana and Bumblebee.

They have merchandise planned but mostly for adults and collectors. So I'd say any set will be a loose tie-in or a big Tumbler-esque set, in the off chance that we actually do get one.

I'm not sure if you mean this year alone or not, but this year we also got Starfire and in the past we've also gotten Batgirl, Catwoman, Faora, and Lois Lane. I still agree that we are getting the bare minimum, which is a shame :hmpf_bad: .

It's true that there isn't any hard evidence, but I think assuming LEGO's tie-in will be mini-doll based is a pretty logical conclusion, since the common brand intentions of attracting girls to classically male dominated interests and teaching them to discover their "true potential" with identifiable and relatable characters is the reason that the mini-dolls and themes like Elves and Friends were made in the first place. To quote the Warner licensing expo press release, "The LEGO Group will also be key to building the DC Super Hero Girls franchise, leveraging their experience and success engaging girls in creative construction play to bolster this universe through an array of LEGO building sets designed to inspire girls’ imaginations."

However, the people who are assuming that this means that Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn will never come in another set really need to calm down and take your advice. Female minifigures didn't stop appearing in City when Friends was released. If any thing, I think that there are more there now.

Also, on the topic of the licensing expo, it actually hasn't happened yet, only the press release has been sent out. I think that the expo is on Monday, so we should find out for sure then, but I wouldn't get hopes too hi up. The PR implies that the movie's merchandise will be targeted at adult collectors. "WBCP will also offer a targeted licensing and merchandising program focusing on collectors and adult fans in support of Suicide Squad" That doesn't mean it won't happen, and comic-based sets are always a possibility. Hopefully we can find out for sure on Monday (and maybe Harry Potter spin-off sets too?)

That is one, count that one, sensible person in the room. Well said.

Alright, thanks.

Whether we get sets based on the movie or not, I think its a safe assumption to say we'll be getting another Joker set sometime next year.

Well then, I guess its safe to assume no other room can have a sensible person in it. :sarcasm::grin::tongue:

Seriously though, very good points Super Fish Oil, well done.

You know that we have had Wonder Woman twice now right? Same number as Scarecrows, Mr Freezes and more than grodds, captain colds and man bats...

I really do not see what the fuss is all about?

We have had quite a few Justice league members over the past few years. They are taking their time, if they released everything at once, there would be no need to do subsequent sets.

We've had three Harleys in the SH theme, Poison Ivy in three sets. Scarecrow, Bane, and Two-Face have appeared less frequently. But I would appreciate figs like Raven, Hawkgirl, Black Canary, Power Girl, Katana, etc. If they are minidolls, it's likely they'll eventually become regular minifigs.

Wait, JANG REVIEWED JOKERLAND? *oh2* Okay. now I really want it. Harley's face printing is just perfect, and the clown robot's pop-up head is really funny.

Online, from a UK site.

In preparation, I created this:

And inside...

botrevealed.jpgbotback.jpg

The Quinndroid is just on a flick-fire inserted into a 2x2 round brick (which is placed on a 2x2 square plate).

Thank you! It took about an hour and a half of fiddling with the design and hunting for parts to make it, though. I'm particularly pleased with how the crank turned out. Harley better be appreciative!

I'm thinking of calling the Jesterbot in the box Shirley, because of the old "Surely/Shirley you jest" joke. It's just another think to flesh out Jokerland or the Funhouse and give Batman some trouble.

Hey, guys, just wonder if any of you is going to modify the canopy of the batmobile in the jokerland to make it have a sliding mechanism while not having the canopy falling off when I turn the batmobile upside down. It would be just like the movie. I really don't like that it is currently stacked on two 1x1 plates though it is kind of firm. If anyone has a great design idea about it, I would like to hear it. thanks!

Looking at the General Grievous Starfighter might give you some ideas. That one slides. Using bricks with horizontal slots and plates with rails is a good starting point.

So its been stated that suicide squad merchandise will be marketed toward adult collectors. However, IGN also said in their article that we'd be getting Lego sets for the movie. Not entirely sure how credible they are, but I'm inclined to believe them and their source.

I wouldn't be surprised to get one or two sets to promote the movie. MoS and Ant-Man had minimal sets, but they were still there. I'd guess that we'd get Harley, Joker, Katana, Boomerang, Deadshot, and whoever else is key to the film. However, it's LEGO, so it'll probably be a "Squad" or "Task Force X" set.

I was just thinking of giving the Trickster minifig a banana when I get him. Why? All LEGO Flash enemies villains worship the power of the banana, and it fits with thebrickmario loves Disney! theme.

Lego will never make sets based on a film with that name and that's entirely sensible.

We'll get the figures, but comic versions and mixed in with unrelated characters, as we do now.

I imagine the film's title will change shortly anyway, why incur the agro when you can make the same film featuring 'Task Force X' and just title it as something more commercial such as 'Arkham' or 'Gotham' etc

If that is true, I'm guessing we'll get a $20 with Joker, Batman, Harley Quinn and

Jokermobile

at the very least.

 Same here.

I guess this explains why Reverse Flash wears yellow... must be Barry's allergic to bananas or something.

There will still be merchandise no matter what it's called, and the team's other name makes it easy to market it to younger kids. The movie isn't for younger kids, though, so it can still be called "Suicide Squad". Besides, it seems to use liberal creative license with the source material, so it wouldn't be very recognizable. I wouldn't count LEGO out.

Also, ever since Disney Bricks, the word "pr4nk" has not been changed back. It's a bit annoying, since I'm referenced in the "swear" filter!
