Venkefedo Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Why do the prelims have standins for the bigfigs? Note the Green Lantern set... Sinestro's head is blank, his torso's a Master Builder's Academy torso, etc, and we've already seen the final versions of those figures! These were all taken awhile ago, and pretty much every one will differ in final form from what we see in the sets, aside from maybe Aquaman and Flash. Maybe one Superman will use the existing comic print, but I'm kinda expecting at least one to feature the New 52 outfit, and either of the non-space Batmen could be existing prints as well, but they also love making new tweaks to Batman. I'm surprised we actually got Supergirl before Superboy, given Lego's obvious gender bias. Sadly she still has that same hair, but still. That brings our superheroine count up to 5! *sarcastic excitement* Her body is just the existing Comic Superman print, so that'll certainly change; the hair might as well! Why should they make Superboy? He's just a young version of superman. I think Supergirl is much more better. Superboy hasn't been a young version of Superman since pre-Crisis (and in various post-Crisis alternate universes). Connor Kent, aka Superboy, has been a clone of Superman mixed with human DNA (for a long while it was unknown who the human DNA was taken from--if it even mattered--then it was revealed to be Lex Luthor, which carried over into the Young Justice cartoon, but this origin was changed in the New 52). Steph 104th Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Shorter hair also means that you can turn the head with the hair accompaning it unlike most of the long hair moulds Quote
Ellteltoone Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I've had a good look at the grodd set and it appears to be a tuk tuk delivery van with a 3rd wheel under the drivers cabin Quote
Steph 104th Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Studing the image it seems as if they all use the same Batman, even though the are prelimenary, they also use TDKR torso piece, possibly a sign of a rather detailed torso design for next years Batman. Quote
Ellteltoone Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The bat mech also appears to have a net launcher, much like the original batcave Quote
Moon_Knight Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Evening all, This is my first post outside of the 'introduce yourself' so go easy if I've posted when I shouldn't have... I think the intergalactic girl hair would work. Especially as it has the flowing look appropriate for a girl flying at high speed. I would say good afternoon where I'm at. ;DI don't think the intergalatic girl is a bad choice. I like the CMF goth girl because she's got the bangs that Supergirl has. Quote
stan5345 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Can someone explain to me why they make prelim box art in the first place, and what it's used for. I mean, why go to the trouble of making prelims, and then do it all again when the pieces are finalised? Quote
deskp Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Can someone explain to me why they make prelim box art in the first place, and what it's used for. I mean, why go to the trouble of making prelims, and then do it all again when the pieces are finalised? They use it to show retailers. AND they make the boxart, then just repalce the lego parts in the 'scene' when thats done! Edited September 15, 2014 by deskp Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) I think its to give stores an idea of what their ordering before the sets are finalized. Edited September 15, 2014 by Dr.Cogg Quote
CF Mitch Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Don't believe I've replied yet, since the arrival of prelim pictures. First off, thanks for the tip, Just2Good! All those amazing new characteeerrs Darkseid Invasion is my favorite, at the moment. I'm so glad we finally get a Green Arrow For me, it would be most important that his face has domino mask and not shades and that he gets the cool goatee as well Like someone mentioned earlier, if he doesn't come with a green hood, I can always BL one. The Gorilla Grodd-set seems a bit of a letdown, right now. The Bat-Mech is not my thing and aside from Grodd and Captain Cold, it doesn't feature that many new characters.. Brainiac Attack seems really cool too. I don't know much about New 52 appearances, but I'm glad Supergirl has the long hair. That's the way I've always known her as and, in my opinion it should be as such. I might skip on the Black Manta set... Doesn't have any new figures either aside from Black Manta himself, so His submarine looks really cool though Regards, Mitch Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Definite must buy on the whole theme. I haven't done that yet, but 2015 seems to be the year for it. Tons of new characters and possible variants. Overall I think 2015 will still be a cheap year for me, but DC and Pirates are leading the budget breaker. Quote
Ashnflash Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I think the Javelin is too big and the set is overpriced other than the amount of characters Quote
YoshiBlockr Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Guys im soooo happy about these prelims , I think we are getting final pictures in October or November, but just a guess. GUYS I WANT HE DARKSEID SET BUT I DONT KNOW THE PRICE FOR IT? The question is what's more expensive the grodd set or the Darkseid the grodd one seems to be bigger with more figs and a bigger build, but in my opinion. I will most likely buy the sinsetro set and the brainiac set. Quote
Moon_Knight Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I think the Javelin is too big and the set is overpriced other than the amount of characters That's funny. If anything, I would think that people would think the Javelin's too small. I think it's the perfect size but it's definitely a lot bigger in the comics and in the Justice League television series. Quote
Suspsy Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Well, it's about time Batman moved over. :p I'm excited to see what Darkseid and Grodd will look like, but I could care less about the Javelin. The Bat-Mech is hilarious though, and the little Invisible Jet is great. I'm most excited about the Brainiac set. I wonder if MM will be identical to his promo version? Quote
KCMatze Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Did they ever put a S@H give-away in a regular set? I am not an expert on that...if not, the new MM will definitely be new! Quote
TheBatstan Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I don't recall, it kind of defeats the whole purpose. This J'onn will definitely be his classic version from LB3. Quote
YoshiBlockr Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Which is more expensive the Darkseid set Or the grodd set Quote
DJ Bricks Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Did they ever put a S@H give-away in a regular set? I am not an expert on that...if not, the new MM will definitely be new! Well they might, considering that his promo sold iut in 11days, due to massive ordering. So they might, or not. Quote
8BrickMario Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Which is more expensive the Darkseid set Or the grodd set Darkseid. Grodd is about $45-50, while Darkseid is the most expensive in the wave. Edited September 15, 2014 by 8BrickMario Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Here's what some of them might look like. Quote
TheLegoExperience Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Here's what some of them might look like. I'm assuming not all of them won't have leg printing. LEGO is stingy about that. Quote
DJ Bricks Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Um Black Manta ans Brainiac have updated looks for them, Cyborg too. They look official too Quote
K-Nut Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 I'm assuming not all of them won't have leg printing. LEGO is stingy about that. You'd think that, but GL, Sinestro, and Probably Wonder Woman are all going to have new leg printing for this wave. I'm guessing Supergirl and Brainiac will, but that may be it. Hawkman and Cyborg may, but it's not as important to their figures as it is Supergirl and WW. Quote
deskp Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Here's what some of them might look like. Most of those pictures is from lego batman 2 and 1 is fan made. lego batman 3: https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5574/14730489187_da630a4136_z.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5579/14830351216_d34253672d.jpg http://www.thexboxhub.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Hawkman-LB3.jpg http://venturebeat.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/lego-batman-3-cyborg.jpg?w=558&h=301 Edited September 15, 2014 by deskp Quote
