Chimaninja454 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I purchased the complete fifth series yesterday. Fun builds, cute personalities and good designs. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 http://brickset.com/article/15403/review-mixels-series-5-lixers Overall, *Mesmo voice* meh. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 KLINKERS! http://brickset.com/article/15435/review-mixels-series-5-klinkers#comments Overall, Series 5 is awesome. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the reviews! I hope you'll do the same for Series 6. I like these ones a lot. Now I need to get them! The ones on my list are: Turg Snoof Chilbo Gox Jinky Kamzo EDIT: After looking at the Series 6 packaging, I realized that the Munchos live in a land of giant food! Also, I really like Vaka-Waka! DuckBricks Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 With all the dinosaur talk in the Bionicle forum, it got me thinking that dinosaur Mixels may be very viable... Although they would all have to be one main color for the tribe... I'm guessing either brownish red or green? Quote
WARHEAD Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Dark green would work pretty well for cartoony dinosaurs, plus it hasn't been used as a primary color yet. Maybe paired with tan for the underbelly detail? Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 I decided to get Magnifo today, as it was my last chance, but I was very tempted to get Turg. A dino tribe should definitely use Olive Green, since no other Mixels have yet. Quote
bacem Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 agreed with olive green. it would be fitting for dino tribe. and besides dino tribe, would be cool if we get racer tribe too, with racing vehicle being their style and aestethic. Quote
Boogly22238 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I think there's a few things they might as well use next year: Pink Water tribe And Air tribe. Quote
DuckBricks Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 With all the obscure tribes, I wouldn't be surprised if we got tribes based on the more obscure Bionicle elements, like plasma and magnetism... Hmm... I imagine red and blue magnet Mixels now. Not sure how good those would look aesthetically though... Quote
Alskadosis Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I'm REALLY looking forward to the Series 6 Munchos. In Series 5, I think the Lixers have to be my favorite. Quote
just2good Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Did anyone read about this? http://www.mirror.co...aracter-5853032 I hope this doesn't go as far to discontinuing Turg. He's my favorite of Series 5. Edited June 10, 2015 by just2good Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Did anyone read about this? http://www.mirror.co...aracter-5853032 I hope this doesn't go as far to discontinuing Turg. He's my favorite of Series 5. Ugh. That's unfortunate. I've never heard that term myself, but Lego should certainly change the description if they can. I bet no one checked to see if the term had any negative double meanings when they were concocting his "funny" profile. As for Mixels, at first I was skeptical, but now I must say this is a wonderful line! Excellent for pieces! My brother and I love them, and some of the designs are actually quite inspired and good looking in their own rights! (And did I mention how great they are for pieces?) ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
CabooseBM Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Cripes, that's unfortunate, hopefully LEGO fixes that nonsense. Quote
PenPlays Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Did anyone read about this? http://www.mirror.co...aracter-5853032 I hope this doesn't go as far to discontinuing Turg. He's my favorite of Series 5. Oh... People being insulted by things that are irrelevant in the current age. Why am I not surprised. No child is going to have any idea, nor care what that term means. Also, only a portion of the kids use that specific part of the website to begin with! This is pointless, and no one should care. Lego's just going to pull a Jabba's Palace again by mentioning that it will retire one day, and no on will bat an eye. Jokes on them as that was the plan to begin with. Quisoves Pugnat Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Shame on Disabilities Charity and the Mirror for their scandal-mongering. It's blindingly obvious in context what the offending descriptor actually refers to. That said, it does seem to have been removed from Turg's pages. Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I never noticed that. But why is it being taken so seriously now? The website is purely supplemental, and it's prone to mistakes, like changing the odd-but-charming Minifigure names to the sterotypical or insensitive alternatives. The biggest outrage came from the puzzled fans on EB and Brickset. Anyhow, I don't think it was intentional, and if the term is old and outdated enough, I'd say it was an innocent mistake with unexpected consequences. Quote
tafkatb Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Yeesh, that's awful. At least it wasn't in print and could be easily fixed. Quote
DraikNova Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Eegh, that was strange. I've never heard of that term before. Is it common in the UK? At any rate, I kind of like how "part chicken, part frog" seems to be a jab at Jurassic World. I've just gotten all of series 5, and I think the Lixers may be my favorite tribe yet. They're so amusingly weird and they have so many interesting parts. The others are also great, but the Lixers are just plain awesome in their sheer ridiculousness. In other news, the LEGO store I went to had lots of Mixel eyes availalbe in the PaB wall, so I took about 100 of them. I kind of wonder whether I'll ever see Mixel joints in there. Quote
Kalhiki Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Well, at least it's not as bad as Hasbro naming one of its Transformer characters Spastic (later changed to Overrun). But that settles it. Next Mixel I get will be Turg. Quote

The biggest outrage came from the puzzled fans on EB and Brickset. Anyhow, I don't think it was intentional, and if the term is old and outdated enough, I'd say it was an innocent mistake with unexpected consequences. It's probably being noticed now because the Series 5 Mixels are hitting saturation, so they're available to parents, who would go on the website with their kids. Seems pretty timely to me? Its possible the person who wrote it had heard the phrase but didn't know the context. According to the article, disability charities in the UK seem to have done work to take that phrase out of common usage, so younger folks don't have the context for it since it's gone. (There's a similar case with Downs Syndrome activism here in the States) Quote
refriedbeans Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Guess I should snatch Turg up next time I see him, just in case Quote
8BrickMario Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I got Boogly and Turg today. I love Turg's pure weirdness, and his tongue is a lot of fun to bend around in different ways. Aesthetically, he's one of my favorites. Boogly would be perfect if not for the weak design of the front legs. Quote
Aanchir Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Had we gotten descriptions of the Series 6 tribes? The new Australian catalog has them. No individualized descriptions, though. Quote
vexorian Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Pretty gross. I even hope they discontinue the ableist mixel. There must be some consequences. Quote
