nrg Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Has no one posted this yet? rough translation: The return of the Ultimate Collector! The first Lego Star Wars sets were released in 1999 and til this day, The Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon remains the ultimate reference. Released in seven models in all shapes and sizes, the huge box 10179 is the one to be most (in)famous one. There have been cases where it’s been sold for 2000 EUR – 4000 EUR depending on it’s MIB. After some time, the ‘collector cult’ will be happy once more as it is to be released at a more reasonable/attractive price. An investment for the future… Release 2015. source: http://www.hothbrick...agazine-sy-met/ Told ya guys! Quote
duboismerci Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) You omitted to translate one line "According to specialists this collector should be re-released soon at a better price" (better price referring to the 2000-4000$ it goes on Ebay and not the original 500$ price) Who are those "specialists"? Would this be the rumored DS size that we heard of? Edited December 9, 2014 by duboismerci Quote
arc Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Would this be the rumored DS size that we heard of? that's what I'm thinking. Assuming this is authentic anyway. Not really sure what to think, I probably won't be able to afford something like this, but it would still be nice to see it come back. Quote

Only thing that makes me doubt is we don't know who are the specialists they are talking about. Are they lego store employes or just some people who are called Lego specialist but don't really have anything to do with TLG? Edited December 9, 2014 by duboismerci Quote
Darth Punk Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Okay then... I don't think Cloud City is happening, also I'm starting to think TLG can't pull it off because they can't figure out how to do it... how to design and release it at an acceptable price point(s) and include all the functions AND possibly invoke the shape/look of the structure overall. MOC from scratch or Bricklinking 10123 is the only way for Cloud City to represent on your shelves for the foreseeable future. They can't seem to figure out how to do TIEs either... they keep getting larger and more expensive instead of smaller and cheaper. TIES are supposed to be cheap, lightweight and plentiful. Ask The Empire. Granted, after all that scorn (sorry TLG) I must say the 2015 wave of Rebels stuff does look promising. This next year across all Lego themes are going to strafe and fire proton torpedoes right into the ol' wallet. I don't think there ever was a strong possibility we would see a ucs cloud city. As many others have mentioned it would mostly come as multiple sets. Much like how we got Hoth sets. Quote

As many others have mentioned it would mostly come as multiple sets. Much like how we got Hoth sets. Yep. Just because one isn't happening doesn't mean Lego "couldn't figure it out"... they may not have tried to figure one out for UCS, certainly not one that has all the playset features it might require while also having the silhouette/'look' of Cloud City from the outside. That's something best left to MOCs, and I'd wager most who attempt it will only be able to fit one or two 'scenes' in the interior. Hoth/Jabba's Palace-style sets are the way to go... the exterior is largely meaningless (balancing it would be a challenge in itself), it's the interior scenes most of us want, I think.... Carbon Freeze chamber, Vader's revelation to Luke, maybe the smelting room, the dining room betrayal, etc... trying to stuff more than one of those inside a Cloud City exterior is just asking for trouble. TWP Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I don't think what that magazine is saying is true. They probalbly needed filler space to give an example of a good collectable, read some forums, rumours... And considered a new UCS Falcon true. How would a magazine like that possibly find it out earlier than we all AFOLs that are searching the web thoroughly every day? - Or, why would TLG expose a new release to a magazine that almost no AFOL reads? If they would be so sure, they would have listed a real source, like a web-site or interview, instead only using the vague therm "specialists", which does almost never seems reliable on its own. - For all we know it could be just some ten year olds discussing it on the Lego site Quote

Small vignettes are a much more effect way to tell a story while minimizing the bricks required. Not to mention an exterior needs to be fairly interesting to be included, much like the Death Star. I don't recall anything special about the outside of cloud city, I mainly remember all the antennas. Carbon freeze chamber and Vaders revelation would definitely be a must. Most likely a cloud car set as well with a possible landing pad for your slave 1/MF parking needs(unlikely but one can dream). A summer 2015 wave seems most likely the time, but if not then it's anyone's guess how heavily ep. vii is going to dominate going forward. Quote

Flieger Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Still no sign of the winter sets in stores yet? Not even in Europe? Last year the winter wave was available in December 2013, just before Christmas. I was in the Lego Store today, but no sign of them. I will try again just before Christmas like last year as I really want that AT-DP. However they had the Slave 1 UCS on display - and it looked very impressive; perhaps a bit smaller than I had expected (but that may be just me). Quote

Oh I been here long enough to know who's creditable and I have always waited for him to state the wave list out. It was the way he said it that made it seem like he was just hypothesizing about the falcon. Quote
will Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 That's certainly good news regarding the MF. Whether it's quite as large as the previous UCS version, we'll have to wait and see, but I'd guess it would have the cockpit that has been shown in the Yoda Chronicles. I'll have to start saving now! Darth Malgus Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Not too sure i'm all that rapt to get another MF, I have the last one. Was hoping for something different... Was happy with the Tie, meh on the X-wing, undecided on the MF. Hopefully its Ep 7 based. Quote

Aeroeza Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I can't say I'm convinced by the UCS Falcon rumour. The link I read suggests they are reiterating more of the 'wishful thinkers' out there than concrete sources... But as for the UCS Tie? Wow! Now that seems to have a ring of truth to it and about time too! 14 years is a long wait for this icon to get the UCS treatment. Its price tag suggests a higher number of bricks and therefore different build techniques than those established by 7181. This I can't wait to see!! :D Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Its price tag suggests a higher number of bricks and therefore different build techniques than those established by 7181. A more expensive set contains more pieces? *Sarcasm* I hope it contains at least 1800 pieces. Maybe the wings will be brick built.. Quote
