Do we know if these sets will be a 2015 release or will they technically be a 2016 release released one month early like Ninjago 2014 and the first two Hobbit films?

Well, no. We don't know anything about the release date yet- but keep in mind the Ninjago sets you're referring to are officially considered 2014 sets, while the Hobbit sets you're referring to are officially referred to as 2012 and 2013 sets respectively for each wave. The official release dates are shown at the bottom of the box, with the copyright information. I'd guess these new Star Wars Episode VII sets will be 2015 sets officially, like the Hobbit sets, as the movie releases in 2015.

The Lego Minifigure Year by Year book considers the AUJ sets a Winter 2013 release which was released a little earlier to coincide with the film. It even had the new 5-number set numbers while the other 2012 sets had 4-digit set numbers. Ninjago 2014 was released in December 2013 even though it was a 2014 release. Is it possible that the same might be true of the Ep. VII wave?

So, did no one else notice that the pilot of the X-Wing has a REBEL INSIGNIA on his helmet?! Was the Empire never defeated? Did the war never end?!

Anyway, I cannot wait for the new TFA sets! Those Stormtroopers look amazing, the X-Wings are lovely, the TIEs are....weird....and the Falcon= .

Well, there's stormtroopers. So I'd assume not.

Even if the war is at some kind of long stalemate, the insignia could represent the new government formed out of the Rebel Alliance...

But yeah, the prominently placed stormtroopers in the teaser certainly don't suggest that the conflict is over.

What's wrong with the Ties? I barely saw them in the trailer, but they seemed normal enough to me.

Talking about the summer wave now, I think we'll either get a Rebels Tie then (with Zeb and Sabine in her helmet, or a SW7 tie in December.

The rebel insignia could be used by the New Republic......perhaps a former Imperial commander became a war lord and thinks now is the time to flex his or her muscles ?

Anyway, that's drifting off course......back on course X-wing pilots with dark helmets......brown, hmmm, I wonder if we get a choice of pilots with the next X wing set ?

There must be another X wing and tie fighter, also the storm troopers might have different faces under their helmets ?

I'm really hoping that Lego starts using that face with balaclava on more of the helmeted figures like with the Sandtroopers and the new Endor scout troops.

Same. It felt like they used them for 1/2 years, did a load of Prequel stuff (not that thats a problem ;-) , then forgot about them. It's a shame, they were a nice little detail too.

In the old Expanded Universe ( and with old I mean novels, comics etc released during the years) the war continued for a while: New Republic (the log is similar to the Alliance's one, if I'm not mistaken) vs "Imperial Remnant"

To be honest I've never been a huge fan of post-ROTJ Expanded Universe. I prefer Clone Wars/Old Republic one but I hope the new Trilogy will be amazing. In any case I'm sure it will give us wonderful Lego sets, so all is fine

EDIT: typo corrected :classic:

For those of you familiar with the halo series, we could have a situation similar to the covenant in halo 4. The human-covenant war is over, but a group (the storm faction) did not agree with the treaty between the two main factions. Therefore, they dough unsc targets including the dawn. In TFA, there could be a separate faction that felt like the war should not end. Meanwhile the true empire is actually gone.

My belief is that just because the Death Star II was destroyed, and both Vader and Palpatine killed, doesn't mean that an entire Galaxy-wide government would collapse. At the end of ROTJ, the Rebels are still a rather small group compared to the legions that the Empire would still have on Coruscant alone. So, how would they have the ability and resources to take control of an entire Galaxy when their are probably tons of Moffs and Admirals who could take over the Empire. But who knows.

Well, Rome fell partly because of having a series of bad emperors. In TFA's case there's most likley no emperor.

If I remember correctly that scene was to take place a while after the defeat of the empire at Endor, but illustrated in ROTJ either way.

I might be incorrect though

All the celebration scenes seemed to take place just after Endor, Still it's possible they could have taken control of the statue area before a bunch of TIE bombers showed up and killed the 2000 or so people in the square.

I'd hate to be a buzz-kill, but we ARE getting off-topic. Then again, we've pretty much discussed everything about everything on this forum. Guess we'll have to wait until we have more information to talk about. In the meantime, Episode 7, yay!

Have we seen pictures of the Inquisitor with his helmet off? Is the helmet molded to the body piece or are they separate (like General Zod's armor in the Man of Steel sets)?

Posted

On the Rebels show on the Disney Channel, they have the "brought to you by Lego" sponsor with a CGI animation. In some cases the Inquisitors face could be seen in that animation. From what I can remember the head seemed normal and detachable from the body.

I don't think we've seen pics, but in the armored/helmeted pics we've seen there is a seam visible, so the helmet should be removable without removing the entire armor piece.
