irispen Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 UCS TIE? great! but AUGUST 2015? hmmm.. so the next UCS will be on 2016? :( Quote
tafkatb Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 No, it's definitely releasing in May; I have no idea why that site is listing it for August. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 No Cloud City?!? Well then..... Quote
Chills Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Ohhh yeah, same here. I can't wait to see pics of the TIE. So it's going to be a May 4th release like the Sandcrawler? Quote
namioik Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Ohhh yeah, same here. I can't wait to see pics of the TIE. So it's going to be a May 4th release like the Sandcrawler? It's been a trend that TLG releases a Star Wars exclusive on May the 4th (or around that date). Quote
Anio Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 There is something wrong. 220€ means about 1,800 - 2,000 parts How can a TIE Fighter have that many parts ? Quote
rollermonkey Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 ^Anything that can be made can be made bigger. Besides, technic cores/frames always push up piece counts quickly with all the pins used to hold the liftarms together. Quote
Robert_88 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I'm really happy about the UCS Tie Fighter! 200 € means it will be huge. (or overpriced...) No Cloud City?!? Well then..... "Patience, my friend." I'm sure they will release a new version. Maybe when the DS retires. Quote
merman Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 No, it's definitely releasing in May; I have no idea why that site is listing it for August. Because regular stores are not allowed to sell exclusives right away... Quote
cavegod Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 It would make sense to release the Tie in May to coincide with the trailer for the film. Just saying Quote
Dragonlego27 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 No Cloud City?!? Well then..... The Cloud City doesn't necessarily have to be UCS. It could be a summer set the size of Jabba's Palace or a model built out of several smaller sets. Or it could be that Death Star sized set recently rumoured, released in the fall. Quote

Venkefedo Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 What Death Star sized set? I've not heard of this yet. It came up a couple months ago... some employee at a Lego Store or something mentioned there was some big set on the way, Death Star-sized, in the new year. Nothing else has really been heard about it. But I hope it's not Cloud City; I'd rather CC be handled more like Jabba's Palace, multiple sets that fit thematically together. Quote

I hope this big set is from The Force Awakens. Whatever it is, it would sell like mad. And if its a fall release (or at least thats what has been rumoured), it could be a tie-in for the movie. Quote
GallardoLU Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 there is also rumor of an Avengers Helicarrier UCS. I imagine that would be quite Deathstar Sized if done as a play/display set. but if the Employee was referring to strictly star wars sets then its a mystery for now. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Perhaps the tie could be an Ep 7 tie in? Quote
Tariq j Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 GallardoLU: It might probably be that set. The employee said it was a Death Star sized set, meaning the set didn't necessarily have to be SW. He could have just been referring to the DS. Quote
TWP Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Sick find, I knew that rumor was correct! Thanks! There is something wrong. 220€ means about 1,800 - 2,000 parts How can a TIE Fighter have that many parts ? That's what I thought too. But also SNOTted wings like they did in the UCS lambda-class shuttle costs a LOT of parts too. The site is usually a little high on exclusives earlier in the year, so price could also be €200. But it does make a bit of sense having it on the same price point as the X-wing. I wonder what kind, if any, of exclusive figures TLG will put in the set to force us to buy it And, I think that Helicarrier is sort of confirmed. Brickset has it listed, already with a set number and price point. Quote
werpudel Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I really don't see the sense in making a TIE UCS. the last sysem Tie was already pretty big (and pretty perfect IMHO). an even bigger TIE would look ridiculous. it would tower over the UCS X-wing and the UCS Slave I Quote
Cammo Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) Has no one posted this yet? rough translation: The return of the Ultimate Collector! The first Lego Star Wars sets were released in 1999 and til this day, The Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon remains the ultimate reference. Released in seven models in all shapes and sizes, the huge box 10179 is the one to be most (in)famous one. There have been cases where it’s been sold for 2000 EUR – 4000 EUR depending on it’s MIB. After some time, the ‘collector cult’ will be happy once more as it is to be released at a more reasonable/attractive price. An investment for the future… Release 2015. source: http://www.hothbricks.com/2014/12/si-meme-picsou-magazine-sy-met/ Edited December 9, 2014 by Cammo Quote
darththeling Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Okay then... I don't think Cloud City is happening, also I'm starting to think TLG can't pull it off because they can't figure out how to do it... how to design and release it at an acceptable price point(s) and include all the functions AND possibly invoke the shape/look of the structure overall. MOC from scratch or Bricklinking 10123 is the only way for Cloud City to represent on your shelves for the foreseeable future. They can't seem to figure out how to do TIEs either... they keep getting larger and more expensive instead of smaller and cheaper. TIES are supposed to be cheap, lightweight and plentiful. Ask The Empire. Granted, after all that scorn (sorry TLG) I must say the 2015 wave of Rebels stuff does look promising. This next year across all Lego themes are going to strafe and fire proton torpedoes right into the ol' wallet. Quote

From what I can recall Lego RARELY does re-releases of a set Quote
Cammo Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 My guess, if the magazine is right, is that it will be an UCS MF from the new trilogy or at least an updated one and not a rerelease. Quote
