rollermonkey Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) The rumor about a death star sized set stated it would be coming out in January. ...and the source of that story was "random LEGO store employee at the London store". In other words, someone who knows Jack. Edited December 29, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote
arc Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Another giant hoth set? Let's hope they do it good, because the 2011 one was pretty bad. I really liked the 2007 one though, with the blast doors. Hope those are part of the new set. Quote
pcsguy88 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Lucasfilm is keeping a tight lid on The Force Awakens. There's no way they'd allow sets to be released more than 4 months ahead of time. Disney releases toys months before their animated money makers. I would not be surprised at all if they were ep7 based and the Rebel wolves are being withheld at this time due to spoilers of the next season. Wolves are sneaky. I just find it hard to believe that Disney would allow the sets to be seen this February at the New York Toy Fair. As all main LEGO Summer releases are shown off there, I mean. Of course by the time of the Summer release season there's then the possibility that we will have seen what the sets contain in trailers, meaning the sets wouldn't be spoiling much at all. Anything's possible at this point, but with the Rebels sets being named Wolf and also these new ones; I think Wolf simply means, in general, a top-secret, under-the-wraps type of set. In a way I do hope this is the case, don't plan to pick up any Episode VII sets and this will keep 2015 a 'cheaper' year for myself, so to speak. Edited December 29, 2014 by Jacob_9821 Quote
Darth Malgus Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I don't think we will see any TFA sets until just before the movie and after another big trailer which will show most of the sets. I can see disney hilding out on this, its a huge release for them. Quote
Darth Carlos Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I'm new on this site. I've been lurking around on this site for over a year and have enjoyed most of your posts. They were informative and interesting. On the question on when the TFA sets will be coming out, didn't someone a few pages back say that they read or heard somewhere that they would be out in September. Quote

They could just do what they did last year at the Toy Fair, when the Ghost was revealed. At the event, Lego blacked out some of the minifigures to avoid spoilers. They could take the same route with SW7 and the other, secret Rebels sets, or just do a Hobbit BOTFA (whose sets was released at around the same time as the rumoured SW7 sets) and not include them in the Toy Fairs. Also, another trailers almost definitely coming out in the summer, and we know the TFA sets are coming out after that, so that basis of reasoning the release of the, sets based on that is illogical. joebiwankenobi Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I might have some decent info regarding the rerelease of 10179 but need to verify a few things before I post here. There are a couple things I'll have to check with my informant and it may take a week or two or less. All I can say right now is that I heard some info from a family member (not from the informant directly) and if what I heard secondhand is legit minds will be blown. I know that I'm a new member on the forum and that my claim will be taken lightly, but believe me, lego Starwars has been a huge part of my life and I seek to gain nothing more than giving info to some people that enjoy the same hobby I do. My informant is a family friend and is in the toy business: owns a toy shop, goes to toy fairs, and most importantly loves what they do and lego! I want to make sure that I'm not going to get them in trouble in any way by talking about this. I want to be as professional and polite as I can be with the lego company and my family friend concerning this information. In other words, I don't want any Bonthans to die because of this information Joe Quote

I am very much looking forward to your follow-up on this joebiwankenobi! Quote
Tariq j Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Great news, I would love a rerelease, looking forward to hearing more. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I'd prefer if it was re-released as a TFA set, kills two birds with one stone that way. Quote
will Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Yeah an exact re-release would annoy the people who've paid lots of money in the past. So a slightly different release wouldn't bother me, and would also help keep the original prices from dropping and protect people's investments. Quote

Yes, it's a great idea, let's try and make sure the speculators' profits are intact, wishes and desires of true Lego enthusiasts are after all secondary in the greater scheme of things. Quote
will Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Don't get me wrong I hate the inflated prices, but you would be annoyed if you've paid a high price for something that you thought would never be released again, only for an exact re-release to come out. I hate people buying up things only to sell them on at a profit, but that's the world we live in unfortunately. Quote

Nobody can REALLY want a rerelease of a set which already existed before?! It is hard enough for a long time collector to find enthusiasm for the 5th Naboo Starfighter, but of course I can understand that. Why should the Star Wars Theme be treated differently than the City Theme (100th Police Station). BUT: an absolute killer for every single collection is an exact copy of what we had before! Lego should Update the UCS Falcon, but not rerelease the Same version of it. Greetings. Hendrik Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Nobody can REALLY want a rerelease of a set which already existed before?! There's 1 set I missed out on I want: Tantive IV. Sure, I can buy it on BL, but for insane prices. I wouldn't mind an exact release (I must admit an upgraded version would be better but an exact copy would be fine too) The fact an exact copy of something p***** off scalpers is an added bonus. montgocloud Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Well, I hit up the local Target and LEGO Store (Houston) to no avail. Usually our store has sets out before the shelf date so I'm kind of surprised. I'm going back to check on Wednesday. Quote

They always make changes even if they are minor. If they ever do make another USC Falcon regardless if it's exactly the same or very different it will most likely deflate the price of 10179. Speaking of scalpers, maybe TLG will eventually retire the current Death Star and release an updated version. Quote

Usually our store has sets out before the shelf date so I'm kind of surprised. I'm going back to check on Wednesday. My local target had all the new Star Wars sets though they were scattered everywhere. I only picked up the troop transport for now so I could see the figs in person. I have to say I really like the rebel stormtroopers and having only a few OT troopers I am not at all bothered by the differences. Frankly if I was a purist I wouldn't choice lego as my medium to begin with. Quote

You have the 30th anniversary edition (10000 made, these are the ones that are most valuable) and the non 30th edition? Or did it just carry on once the first 10000 were sold? Quote
