Is there any difference between the stormies in the ISD and the Rebels one from the Ghost set? I thought they were pretty much the same.

I'm assuming that the Shadow Troopers battlepack is based on Rebels because I though Disney weren't doing EU stuff any more.

Thanks for the pictures, I'm not too sure the differences are all that decernible to most people, painting is slightly different, the nose on the helmet and more emphasis on one trooper compared to the other. I get your statement about the 'cartoony feel' but I think it would be a pretty hard thing to try and capture though.

Thanks for the comparison pictures. As said above I understand why some collectors may by one type of Trooper and not the other or vice versa.

Personally, I'll probably collect both but will separate them when it comes to MOC's and displaying them.

I don't really like either — the upper half of the breastplate looks oddly small on both. It's probably more accurate, but as far as simplifying a design into a flat print that works well with the distorted proportions of a minifig, it doesn't really work.

The problem with the Rebels stormies is they used the normal helmet mold and printed the cartoony face on it which doesn't suit that shape helmet. That's why it's looking distorted. It really needs a new mold to better suit the look in the Rebels series.

I really like the new stormtrooper from the ISD set as they finally corrected the browband and eye areas of the helmet print. It looks vey movie accurate and I have begun collecting a few extra ones of these with the 2 I got in the ISD.

Microfighter Snowspeeder on the Rumor List, I really like this idea but I believe that only one pilot will be in this possible set so maybe we will have a new Wedge Antilles, hope for this but I really like the idea of a gunner, in this case Wes Janson. We need more snowspeeder pilots and gunners :)

Here's a comparison of the two figures:

The cartoon crap really doesn't impress me much, sry. They look just wimpy - even from the outside.

My Lego SW collection measures more than 5k EUR (as a collector, more than 90% are MISB still). Only one single time did i commit the mistake of buying something cartoony: It was the two BPs of 2011. By then i did not even know of the cartoon stuff and being mislead by the box illustration, i did not suspect what would come out (picture taken from a review - kudos to the respective poster):

As you can imagine, i was ready to pu** all over. This is neither LEGO, nor is it Star Wars. Just rubbish (just to let you know - this is supposed to be a Mandalorian warrior).

Still, it is almost as ugly as the skeleton-ghoulish design of the animated series. However, silly cartoon crap can indeed inspire fear. I guess that you can freak the hell out of a kid by showing this creepy stuff to him/her.

Maybe the Rebels' Stormies will have printed tears or anything of similar silliness on their heads. It would fit to the helmet design perfectly well.

Therefore i will certainly stick to my inclination of not buying anything cartoony. Never! 30 EUR wasted is enough for me. I do not regret any single other buck i did spend on my collection.

As a preemptive sidenote: I consider to buy some flesh heads and exchange the ones of the original product. The rest of the content is acceptable. The CW clone trooper BP was a full mistake, anyway.

Sry for this short rant. :look:

Apart from that, i am very curious for the upcoming sets. Hopefully we will finally see Sand people!

The only thing that is really different is the longer sloppy black stripe on the nose. Other differences are the grey lines not being joined up under the eyes which makes the eyes look a bit droopy. Then the mouth piece is very slightly different. Air vents are blue. But as i said its the nose bit that really sticks out.

I think both look good but prefer the OT version to Rebels.

Yeah, I get the hate for the Stormtrooper, but can't we all be thankful that the actual faces for the figures are at least normal? I'm fine with the new prints---the Stormtroopers in Rebels are supposed to be a slightly different design than the ones in the original trilogy. Unlike in The Clone Wars, there is a story context to it.

I was expecting the differences to be greater than they look in that picture, based on the criticism I have read about the rebels version. Do they have a different face print under their helmets like the cartoon clones do?

Nope, face prints are the same.

Are there any rumours about upcoming Star Wars Episode VII Lego sets? I'm just wondering

Ha!!! First thing's first...we need info on the movie itself first. It's still extremely early for rumors of the sets.

You're right but I just want to know IF they're going to make sets not what sets

Wait, you're unsure as to whether there will be EP 7 sets? There's never been a more guaranteed thing in my life. We'll likely start hearing rumours by next SDCC.

There is no story context to it, just an art-direction context (i.e. a heavy focus on McQuarrie work). Unless I missed some blurb specifically saying they look different because it's 5 years before ANH. The eyes hit the "brow" band and the black grill separating the muzzle from the rest of the face is more exaggerated and sits higher because that's basically how those features looked on a lot of McQuarrie stormtrooper art for ANH

I thought I heard that they were somewhere but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Oh well, I can always just pretend that they are.
