rollermonkey Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Not trying to rant here but seriously...couldn't they atleast give a better description on what minifigs we're getting??? I mean there is a huge fan base out there waiting for news and this is what they give us?? Since the description/report I think that you're ranting about started with Friends and Elves, then City, Ultra Agents, Chima, Ninjago and then ended with Star Wars I'm guessing that the person only mentioned anything about the sets out of a sense of duty, rather than actually caring about them. As soon as I saw that part, I knew people were going to be upset. (Like SW Fans ever aren't upset about one thing or another.) ...also, how many people's heads exploded to know that Ep. VII sets have been seen, but nobody's going to hear a thing about them for probably weeks at best, months more likely? Edited January 21, 2015 by rollermonkey Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Not sure if this has been discussed before or not, but I found something somewhat interesting regarding the Final Duel set. It may be nothing but decided to share it anyway. https://www.behance.net/gallery/15329429/LEGO-Concepts Not the usual confidential images. Can't find a post date either. Of course I am on mobile and may not see certain things of the like. Edit: the woman, who apparently works for LEGO, has been a member of the site since March 2014. Darth Malgus Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Not too sure about those... if its just a eall for the final duel, that's pretty crap... Quote
Fives Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 It sounds like the Final Duel and Tydirium sets are exactly what I was hoping for. These are gonna be amazing sets. I'm so happy that the new Vader helmet is two pieces. It sounds as it is very similar to how I'd imagined them making it work, with a neck brace going around the whole neck, and the mask being attached. Then again, I may be reading it wrong. We'll know soon enough come NY Toy Fair. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Not too sure about those... if its just a eall for the final duel, that's pretty crap... Look at Luke......he's younger there.......not even TESB Luke and totally not ROTJ neither.......scene looks more like the first duel between Luke and Vader. Best wait for the real images instead of guessing. Quote
Robianco Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 They very well may be some initial brick sketches they gave an intern to work on in Billund... the same way I've given work placement students a brief to work on that the rest of the studio has in as a live job. We'll always look at the student's work and give them feedback but the chances of any of it getting to the client are very slim. She may have been given the title of the set and asked to work something up with the brick trays but I wouldn't worry about any aspect of these going into the final designs. Quote
markw Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 That's probably what they'll do. I wish they'd go more in depth though. At the same time, doing it that way seems kinda cheap. Santa Yoda, Santa Jango and Santa Vader all used existing moulds but with new Christmassy printing. The only guys that got a hat were Santa Maul (standard snow hood thing in red) and Christmas Clone. My bet is a different torso and leg print with the same old 3P0 head. Intrigued by reindeer R2, I'm guessing a brown R2 with a red nose/eye. Quote
The Kid Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Reindeer R2 is just a regular R2 with brick-built antlers. Santa 3PO has a new torso (and possibly new legs, not sure), but is otherwise just a regular 3PO head with the most recent Santa beard. Pretty disappointing all told. Quote

Also at that fair are the 7 Episode VII sets (but only a select group can see them). So…what about the other 6 sets? Clearly they aren’t at the fair (or is one of them the Star Wars advent calendar?). I wonder what they are, when they will be released and why they aren’t at the fair (while the rest is there on display). Quote

"They also revealed info(and UK pricing) for five Lego sets slated for release in June and thirteen others coming later this year. Jedi News adds that they have been told that two of the Episode VII sets are the Milennium Falcon and X-Wing:" The other six are being released in sept with the TFA sets. I believe they are the rebel sets for season 2 which is why we aren't seeing them. Quote

Sound better ! That does sound much better, I hope they're different variants of the naboo guard. Everything else has much better descriptions, all we need now are pictures. Especially now that I'm a lil worried about his negative stance on the brick built cockpit of the tyderium. Quote

Especially now that I'm a lil worried about his negative stance on the brick built cockpit of the tyderium. Me too. I've found that building one in that scale is very difficult. The UCS one is perfect, but unfortunately I don't believe there is any way to emulate it at a smaller scale. I may end up making my own if it is that bad. I've had my own shuttle in the works since we didn't get one last wave. This may be the right time to bust out the white parts... Edited January 21, 2015 by GuyDudeMan27 Quote
vriverajr3 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Star Wars (June) Overall I thought the Star Wars selection was pretty good, although like the DC Super Heroes sets it might be the models themselves which appeal more than the minifigures! There were seven Episode VII sets although they were hidden away and the staff member could not even give me a release date, let alone confirm any set names. Otherwise it is a mixture of Episode I, Episode VI and Star Wars Rebels. 75091 Flash Speeder (£34.99) - This set actually seemed like pretty good value for money as it included five minifigures: two Battle Droids, two Naboo Security Guards and a Gungan Warrior. The Flash Speeder itself is probably a little oversized although it had the shape absolutely right and looked superb to me with seating for at least two minifigures and a large gun turret on the back. 75092 Naboo Starfighter (£54.99) - The Naboo Starfighter was the 'worst in show' in my opinion. It looked very much like previous versions other than having a little more bulk underneath on this occasion, and the price was greatly inflated by the inclusion of a couple of ground vehicles for maintenance. The minifigures have all been seen before, although some were new variants: Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Naboo Pilot, R2-D2, two Battle Droids and two Droidekas. I must admit that the new Droidekas looked pretty good, although they felt tacked on in an attempt to justify the price. 75093 Death Star Final Duel (£69.99) - I have little doubt that this will stand out among the Star Wars sets for many. This is obviously a playset but actually looked quite impressive with some nice details and three large round windows like in the film. It includes a sliding door much like 9526 Palpatine's Arrest and has some room for dueling in front of the Emperor's throne. Two Royal Guards, Emperor Palpatine, Luke Skywalker and, most excitingly, a new Darth Vader are included! The new helmet and upper torso pieces were only visible in images but looked great. It is a bit of a shame that the change is being made as the current helmet has been around since the beginning of LEGO Star Wars, but the new version looked like an improvement to me. 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium (£79.99) - This model was visible from the back when we entered the Star Wars area and immediately I was impressed. The engines and wings looked simply like scaled down versions of those on 10212 Imperial Shuttle and the minifigure selection is not bad either with Chewbacca, Han Solo (in Endor garb at last), Leia and two Rebel Commandos included. However, the cockpit area looks awful. The general shape has been lost and although I appreciate an attempt at a brick-built version rather than a large windscreen with a sticker, the result was not very impressive. 75097 Star Wars Advent Calendar (£24.99) - The general theme of the Advent Calendar was the same as usual with a selection of mini models and minifigures. The mini models were actually pretty impressive I thought and included a Sandcrawler, Probe Droid, Sarlacc Pit and Jabba's Sail Barge. I doubt the box artwork was completed as the two seasonal minifigures, R2-D2 as a reindeer and C-3PO as Santa Claus, looked fairly crude. I would hope that new prints will be added prior to release. Assuming they are, this looks to be the best Advent Calendar yet! 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier (£99.99) - As many people guessed this set is in fact aGozanti-Class Cruiser as seen in Star Wars Rebels. The external silhouette looked pretty much perfect but the inside was disappointing, with only a single seat cockpit and a computer console. Four mini TIE fighters hang from underneath the ship and looked to be a little bigger than polybag versions. The ship was very much in the same style as 7964Republic Frigate, with decent detail on the outside but almost nothing on the inside. The minifigures include Agent Kallus, and Astromech Droid, an Imperial Officer, two TIE Fighter Pilots and Sabine Wren with a helmet! additional 75106 information posted in comments: The craft is about 30cm long so the TIEs are tiny, about 8 studs tall/wide. Nom Carver Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 ... Lots of thanks man!!! that is a much better set description!, can you tell me how was the cockpit of the shuttle built please? Quote
K-Nut Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Nice to see that Sabine is getting her helmet! the sets sound pretty cool, but I'll wait for pictures before making any decisions. 75093, 75094, and 75106 all sound pretty neat, though it seems like they all have their flaws. Quote

ToaDraco Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I'm am quite intrigued by the new Darth Vader minifig in The Final Duel, other than that I have no interest whatsoever in the epI rehash sets. The new rebels set sounds neat but not incredible, at least Sabine will have her helmet. Unfortunately this year the Star Wars sets are mostly a giant 'meh' with a couple exceptions. I really hope the epVII sets are awesome. Quote
Artanis I Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier (£99.99) ... and Sabine Wren with a helmet! Crap. BL I suppose. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Yikes. Really worried about the Tydirium. I might have to pass it up for the Final Duel instead! Quote
James Wellington Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Quite excited for the Imperial Assault Carrier. I also have "okay" feelings about the shuttle Tydirium, but I think, depending on what it looks like, I'll get it. I also noticed LEGO has been trying to expand the universe into the Battle of Naboo lately, such as the Winter 2015 sets, and some of the upcoming summer sets. Anyway, I'll need to see them before I fully comment on them, and plan to get them, so lets hope for some images soon. Quote
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 OK, there is no way in hell I'm paying over $100 to get Sabine with a helmet when I can pay $20 to get her without it. I'd rather just find the helmet on Bricklink at that point. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Ah, man. I just realized that the helmet is in IAC for $100, but the hairpiece will only be in Ezra's Speeder Bike. Well played, LEGO. Well played. Most likely, I'll just wait until we see 2016 pictures, to see if we get her helmet in a cheaper set. If so, then I'll be able to skip IAC. Also, I'm really liking the sound of Tyderium. I don't own the UCS, or any previous version, so it's a definite buy. Even if the cockpit is weird, I could either 1) live with it, or 2) MOD it. Quote
