Fives Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I'm really excited by the new Stormie helmet. I love the design, and I'm glad that we're now pretty much guaranteed new moulds and not just reprints of the existing helmet. As for the set names for the January wave, here are my thoughts: Micro fighters: I have no particular interest in getting these unless they have some really cool figs, and judging from the list, I feel like there is potential for that. Ezra's Speeder Bike: Obviously this will be a smaller set based on the new white speeders we've seen in the 7 minute preview clip. This could easily have one fig, and be a new, single fig set that could become a new staple of future waves. Hopefully Ezra will have dark blue hair, like how they fixed Kanan's hair in the Wookie Gunship. Troop Transport: I'm very excited by this set. I have a feeling it will be a Battle Pack, yet not really included in the official battle pack category, much like this year's Utapau Trooper set. Either way, a cheap army builder for basic Stormies is something I've wanted for a very long time and plan to buy a good bunch of these. AT-DP: Pretty straightforward. I'm expecting this to only be 20-30$, with 2-3 figs. If two figs, I'd like to see an AT-DP driver and either Commandant Aresko or Taskmaster Grint. If it has three figs, I'd say throw in Sabine or Zeb for fun. TIE Advanced Prototype: This is obviously the Inquisitor set. Perhaps this will include both the Inquisitor and Kallus, or perhaps one of the two Imp. Officers I mentioned above. Either way, I bet this won't be too expensive. AAT: Finally! This better be a Phantom Menace version. It would make sense as a counterpart set for the MTT. I hope we see a Boss Nass fig, and maybe a new Maul. Also, a Padme in her red battle outfit would be really cool. I just hope we don't get too many droids. A couple BDs and maybe a Droideka, but I want more real figs. I also expect this to be a little more expensive. Now, the two sets that really catch me off guard are the Geonosis Troopers and Shadow Troopers BPs. Geonosis Troopers: I have a weird feeling that this will be based on the second battle of Geonosis from The Clone Wars. If that's true, I'm disappointed. It just seems lame for LEGO to make a set based on such old material. Shadow Troopers: This sounds cool, but I'm worried these will just be black Stormies, which is neat, but ultimately kinda boring and pointless, especially now that we know we're in store for some sweet new Imperial stuff with Episode 7. I'll lei key still get one if it's not too bad. But if it exceeds my expectations, I may get a few. Regardless, this wave sounds a hell of a lot better that the 2014 wave was. I think it's because there's just so much completely new stuff, instead of just a bunch of revamped old sets. I'm very excited. Quote
ChiefPie Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I was thinking... Would they do geonosis stormies? Quote
Jdurg Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 As someone coming back into LEGO from my Dark Ages, it's kind of a bummer that the new movies are coming out as well as the Rebels series. I really have no desire to pick up sets that aren't from the PT or the OT, but i pretty much have no choice. Lately, I've started becoming more "attached" to the non movie sets. I still HATE the freaky printing on the CW series sets, and try to avoid them as much as possible. However, I am happy that the minifig printing on the Rebels series and the non CW sets are more in alignment with the "regular" Star Wars sets. I have started buying more and more of these sets as the printing on the minifigs isn't so offensive. Where they still have the horrible "cartoon" printing on the faces, if it's for characters wearing helmets it doesn't bug me as the helmets cover the horrific printing that bothers me so much. I REALLY need to get some shelves built for my collection as storing them on the floor is quickly becoming problematic for me. lol. Quote

I assume that those respective sets contain protected original material of the movies while the rest is EU stuff. While i too long for a battlepack of stormtroopers, it seems as if the troop transport isn't part of the canon (i.e. a Rebels set as outlined). And as pointed out before, i don't like the Rebels's stormie helmets. Thus my interest points towards the 'normal scale' sets. Hopefully there will be room for something especially notable like a Cloud City set (marking the 15th anniversary of TESB... ). Regarding the new helmet props - they look intrigueing to me. Curiosity and anticipation for EP VII grow... Quote
Venkefedo Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I honestly hope the Shadow Troopers set comes with these guys: http://starwars.wiki..._shadow_trooper I hope not; they're just black-and-grey Utapau troops with dark red visors. I know regular shadow troopers are just black stormies (with white or silver eyes if of the Blackhole variety), but they're from an era where troopers didn't really have distinct decos, so simply having the armor a different color was enough. With the clone shadows, it just looked lazy on Hasbro's part (tho they did dub them "Utapau shadow troopers", and when that pattern first appeared in multiple colors in concept art I quickly painted a white clone with a bit version of that pattern, so I understand its appeal... but the clone shadows started Hasbro's trend of turning EVERYTHING into shadow-something as an easy way of making exclusives) That looks a lot like Ezra's helmet Not really; this looks far more like Ezra's helmet (with good reason) Quote
nrg Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 If TLG continue to release CW sets (like geo troopers) than one of the retailer exclusive sets could be CW. I remember, the Republic AV-7 cannon originally included a new Wolffee minifig, then it was replaced by another wolfpack trooper. So maybe we will see a CW set coming whit the new Wolffee. I would love to see the Trident Drill, it's so much missing from my separatist army. Quote
just2good Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 In the Wookiee Gunship set, a box has a CMF stand in light grey as a lid. Has this piece ever been used outside of CMF before? Also in the Ghostbusters set. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) T-16 Skyhopper is the most interesting one to me on the list. I hope we get some Womp Rats or Tusken Raiders in that set along with a red jumpsuit Luke. Indeed going to get a few of them as withThe last one and Iam sure they will so the price can ve raised. As for a pilot might just be a unnamed pilot again and iam ok with that. Edited August 16, 2014 by LEGOMAN132 Quote
ablake90 Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I'm hoping the shadow troopers set is an update of the old battle pack with 1 black trooper and 3 white stormtroopers as long as they are the movie style not Rebels. Quote
TheWolffe Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Did the imperials get someone modern to design their helmets Regardless, both helmet designs look progressive. Maybe a bit more battle worn and it'd be perfect. I do like the design, hopefully it translates well into LEGO, I may have a new army to build Quote
Slurpifier Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Those new helmets are really sweet looking! For some reason, the second helmet reminds me of something from either the Clone Wars, or even something from the Halo universe. Quote
Just The Doctor Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Let's just hope that these stormtroopers have better weapon accuracy... Quote
rollermonkey Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 While i too long for a battlepack of stormtroopers, it seems as if the troop transport isn't part of the canon (i.e. a Rebels set as outlined). The troop transport is canon. In an unusual move, after Kenner made the toy, Lucas retconned the story so that it was an Imperial Troop Transport that attacked and destroyed the Sandcrawler, offscreen. Quote
Venkefedo Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Let's just hope that these stormtroopers have better weapon accuracy... Why? You want them to kill all the main characters? Tantive IV - stormtroopers slaughtered RFTs Tatooine - sandies hit Sandcrawler and Jawas, torch the Lars family Mos Eisley - sandies failed to hit moving target Han beneath the cover of his armored ship Death Star - stormies failed to hit our heroes and may have been ordered to not hit them, due to the plan to track them Hoth - snowies hit Rebels Cloud City - stormies miss our heroes, but again may have been ordered to do so due to Vader having the hyperdrive deactivated so he could capture the Falcon and all aboard it Endor - stormies hit Leia's bike, slay Ewoks and Rebels, hit Leia in shoulder Edited August 17, 2014 by Venkefedo Quote
Rconn0 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 That looks really cool, a little pricey, but still great. Quote
Fives Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Oops, I completely forgot about the Skyhopper. I think this actually has more potential than what it sounds. It would be really cool if this came with Biggs and that female friend of Luke who were deleted from the beginning of A New Hope. Quote

Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) What do you mean it wouldn't sell well? This set has been long overdue for an update. And It's OT. Everybody loves OT. Edited August 17, 2014 by Sir_Basil_Ashton Quote
-Horizon- Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 What do you mean it wouldn't sell well? This set has been long overdue for an update. And It's OT. Everybody loves OT. Yeah, but you don't see it in action in the OT. So most people won't recognize it. Quote
Fives Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Camie Loneozner? She be an interesting choice for a figure. I highly doubt that LEGO would include her. Could a Bantha be finally included? Yeah, Camie. I know she was ultimately cut, but it could be really cool. Luke talks about how he bulls-eyed Womp rats in his T-16 back home, so it would be cool if they made a set based on that. Give us Luke with his goggled hat, Biggs in his poncho, and Camie. And a moisture evaporator. While a Bantha would be awesome, I'd rather a cheap way of getting Tatooine Luke. A Bantha would drive up the price of an otherwise simple set. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Yeah, but you don't see it in action in the OT. So most people won't recognize it. You do see Luke playing with the studio model at the beginning of the oil bath scene, and in the same scene, the half-completed full-sized skyhopper can be seen in the right garage, just behind and to the right of Threepio. You're still right in that most people won't remember it. Nevertheless, as long as it includes Luke, the original hero that every kid knows, it should still have some appeal. Kids like getting all the heroes, and parents like smaller sets that include the minifigs the kids want. Quote
hollisbrick Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 The helmets look like they got updated by Apple Either way I like it! Can't wait to see it on a new ST fig! Quote
