My thoughts:

Flash Speeder - I love this set. I really like that we're finally getting a Captain Tarpals minifig, and the inclusion of the guards are very nice, especially since they're both different. The build itself is very nice and accurate, though the price isn't the most appealing.

Tyderium - Another 'must get' set. As I wasn't a fan of LEGO when the Shuttle came out, this is an amazing alternative. All of the figures look amazing, especially Leia and Han. It captures the design of the actual shuttle very well, and looks to be a sturdy build.

Final Duel - I'm not a huge fan of playset sets, but I, for some reason, really like this one. The new Vader helmet makes him look like a small bobblehead, though, and the Royal Guards are unnecessary (though I do like their inclusion).

Naboo Starfighter - This is another set I'm getting. I don't have any of the others, so this will be my first. I like the new pilot redesign, but I absolutely despise the Droidekas. They're just...blech. I'll probably use my VIP points to get $5 off, in order to make the price better.

Imperial Cruiser - I like the shape, but the design doesn't appeal to me. The interior is terrible, and I don't care for the figures. This is a pass.

Constractions - I don't care for constraction figures, so these were passes since the first time we heard of them. The pictures only reaffirm that.

On closer look at palpatine, it is not the same as the book version, the facial expression is entirely different.

He has a closed mouth with no teeth here, which technically makes this stoic variant exclusive to the set. No idea whether back face print matches the book version or is new though. The book version has a toothy grin compared to the settled smile with no teeth that appears in this set.

Finally, the day has arrived! Lets begin!

UCS TIE Fighter: While I will not buy this, I must say I am very impressed. Its not that theres anything especially new or exciting about the TIE, just that LEGO has once again done such a stellar job with the UCS line.

Death Star Final Duel: This is the best set of the wave by far, in my opinion. They've captured the essence of the scene so perfectly, and the minifigs  VADER IS PERFECT! That new helmet is so perfect and amazing! My only worry is that, from the pictures, it looks more like the rubbery plastic rather than hard ABS plastic, but I doubt I'm right. Luke looks great, and its damn nice to see they've done away with the weird 2014 face. However, I will say that the 2014 Luke face, I think, actually looks better for ROTJ Luke, because he looks far more aged in ROTJ compared to his appearance in both ANH and ESB. Its also a nice touch that LEGO gave Sheev a new face print. The one from the book doesn't have an expression that doesn't show teeth, so thats nice. Definite buy.

Flash Speeder: Its nice that we're finally seeing this vehicle again after so long, but it feels too little too late. Sure, its cool having some new Naboo Guards and a proper Captain Tarpals fig, but with all the new stuff coming out with Rebels and The Force Awakens, these prequel sets kinda feel like white noise. However, the set itself looks great and has some fantastic play value, and of course its a great companion set for all the other recent Trade Federation sets of late.

Naboo Starfighter: Pretty much the same review as the speeder.

Shuttle Tydirium: Like the Final Duel, this is a definite buy. The ship itself is huge and splendiferous, but THOSE FIGS  Han looks great, the Rebel troopers look stealer, but Leia steal the show for me. Not only do we get a new face print (which looks great), she has a cloth poncho! Makes me wonder what she looks like underneath (don't be cheeky  )

Assault Carrier:  Trash. Pure Trash. The only figures that would even be of any kind of draw to the set are Sabine and Kallus, which are both variants are already existing figs. Sure, that astromech is neat, but who cares! And the ship itself just looks so bland. Sure, its not like the ship looks pretty in the show anyway, but it just feels lame. I'm glad I didn't have high hopes for this one!

Buildable Figures: Now THESE are cool. Its already obvious that the characters with skin showing will not translate as well as Vader or Fett, but that doesn't change the fact that these sets breathe some new life into LEGO Star Wars. I always loved the buildable figures LEGO has done over the years (I got really into the Knights Kingdom figs when I was younger), so seeing Star Wars get the Bionicle treatment is fresh and exciting. I likely won't get many of these, but it makes me smile because these will be a smash hit with younger kids. At least I hope so.

The helmet isn't rubber, in the video brickshow posted they take it off and it doesn't bend or squeeze in at all, it looks like hard plastic to me, rubber doesn't get the same sheen when the light reflects off it.

I think the way they've done the new vader helmet is brilliant cause in the movie that neckpiece can be prominently seen in every scene, i mean i love the classic lego one we've seen til now but this is really accurate, the neck piece, the overall shape and roundness, the eyes, the mouth gate. Plus i think the height of the figure thanks to the accurate helmet is also going to convey much better now how tall vader really is, as if they'd left the last one he'd be shorter than the inquisitor which looks a bit off, also the inquisitor figure side by side with the 2014 vader makes him look a bit underdone as the inquisitor has so much detail on the armour, the helmet, e.t.c now vader will be as tall wearing his helmet as the inqusitor and wihen the inquistor does not wear the helmet, taller.

Final Duel: This rendition of Luke is pretty fantastic. palpy looks to be identical to the book version (I have it), but a completely new face print is very welcome. It looks as if well have 4 different expressions for him, which for me personally is awesome news. Vader looks to be all new not including the leg print and the cape. I know the new helm isn't perfect, but in my view it's pretty much as good as you could have made it considering what they were going after. For me, the most impressive element of him is the face: they captured the facial damage particularly well on the back, and somehow they managed to create a face print that a) look accurate in terms of colouring, b) looks like Sebastian shaw, c) also looks like their recent PT anakin face prints, and d) has those glorious bushy eyebrows too. I want to give the graphic designer for that face a hug. Also worthy of note is confirmation that the whole set folds up à la the Battle of Endor playset.

Tydirium: Highlight if this for me is the figs, though I think they captured the Shuttle pretty well in system scale. To me, it doesn't come close to the incredible 10212 UCS, but I'm biased as. I just bought that set an am extremely excited to finally have it. I'm glad that we finally have a proper Endor cast. For some strange reason I find myself preferring the old school Chewie, there's something slightly cartoony about the new version that I can't put my finger on. New Rebel commandos are also fantastic but it's a shame that they sacrifice compatibility with the old versions for more accurate prints and colours. Overall the set is pretty good, it'll be interesting to see the inside. Despite the fact that it's an enormous improvement ovet the previous system scale versions it'll never be able to rival the UCS version, which is a both a shame and a good thing at the same time, I think.

N-1: Very meh design, these things must be absurdly popular with kids for them to produce a 5th (6th?) version. The gimmicks included are obvious efforts to inflate the price, but at the same time I'm glad that we have some closure with regard to complete and accurate episode 1 figs. Obi-Wan seems to be the standout even though he was in the MTT, but again I'm biased because I wanted that fig, however ~15 bucks was too much. I'll probably end up getting this for two reasons, the first being the surprisingly good range of stickers that will be extremely useful for decorating an N-1 moc, and also the range of pieces that will serve the same purpose.

Flash speeder: I haven't paid attention to the design of this vehicle but it looks good. The figures are outstanding, but the speeder itself looks like it's too fat and the back is very ugly. Look like it will be a great parts back for a flash speeder moc though, and the great Nubian figs are a bonus.

Cruiser: Absolute stinker, none of the figs appeal to me (again, biased because I don't collect rebels stuff) except that hot little astromech. "A fine addition to my collection"! I might get it if it goes on sale because it looks like an excellent parts pack. It's also good to see that the 2x2 mini TIE dish prints will grow in circulation.

The action figures are absolutely horrendous, they don't even look like LEGO.

The advent calendar is an solutelt stand out to me though. Everything looks great, we get a jawa and an ewok which is fantastic, plus the delicious OT stormies, plus an absolutely incredible new Hoth rebel. That last fig seems to be a pretty solid indication of a UCS hoth playset, which has me very excited, though I am slightly worried that it might be just a rumour. Sith infiltrator has me intrigued also.

The UCS TIE looks great for what they had in mind, but that's a horrendous price. Hopefully it sells badly and I'll be able to find one heavily discounted. The new pilot is amazing, but it pisses me off that they put such a nice helmet _and_ arm printing in the set to attract more sales! especially considering the fact that we've had a relatively high amount of pilots in the last few waves. Oh well Bricklink will just absorb more of my money then I suppose.

All in all I think it's pretty good, some standouts and some absolute stinkers. I'm excited to get a look at the TFA sets.

Everyone has their own opinions on these sets. So far I've seen 9/10 people say that those Battle Figure things look horrid, and I agree 100%. There's so many more things that I can get in Lego Star Wars, and other lego (but mainly Star Wars), that even if they're on sale 70% off or something, I won't get them.

I do wonder what changed in the license (both between Disney/Lucas and LEGO and between Disney/Lucas and other toy companies) that somehow now allows LEGO to produce Star Wars action figures...

*snip*

any better?

That looks so much better. That's what's wrong with the helmet, the parts under his eyes are too elongated.

One thing I gotta say I think is a mistake is completely changing Vader's face print. The 2014 version from the Star Destroyer was perfect except for the orange Sith eyes. But now, Vader's new eyes and mouth make him look like a child.

I really can't believe that LEGO decided to give Sabine a red helmet. Because you know, boys wouldn't buy the set if the helmet was PINK. :sadnew:

I've also just realized that I may not need to buy every TFA set. If the MF is similar to the last version, and the TIE would be the basic TIE like we got in 2012, then I may be able to save quite a bit. Of course, I'll miss out on some minifigs, but I'll be shocked if we don't get a follow-up 2016 wave, which would most likely give us the important characters for cheap.

I completely disagree, he now looks movie accurate, the previous version was so wrong.

I just took a good long look at both and you're right. The only changes they made to the new head is the eyes and mouth, which were improvements.

There was a big imgur album posted a couple of pages back, it has pretty good views of the advent pieces. Though I think you could get a better look by just searching it.

I gotta say, I love everything about the new Vader. The face print is amazing and a nice surprise. And the helmet is amazing and much improved. It's really going to be the highlight of this wave for me, couldn't be happier (except maybe if I didn't have to buy a $80 set for it).

My 2c after seeing them all. It looks like a very good wave, which will hopefully only get better once we get the Ep VII sets.

Flash Speeder - kinda u excited not a big Ep I fan. This is really just a background ship at best, barely noticed on screen. I never understood the fascination with it. It's great to get a Captain Tarpels and a few other nice figs. But not a real high priority for me.

Naboo Starfighter - it looks like a nice updated version of this one. I skipped the last two. I may finally relent for this one. Not a favorite ship, but better than most other TPM designs.

Tyderium - probably the best set of the wave for me. Good figs. Good representation of the ship.

Final Duel - while I am not a fan of the stage style playsets, this one is kinda sexy. I like the figs. Love the windows. Yeah gonna need to find a home for this one.

Imperial Assault Carrier - I must be strange. I like this one. It has kinda acSWTOR vibe or EU vibe to it. I love those nice chunky capital ships. This one is nicely unusual. The figs look fantastic. Not crazy about the mini ties (now there's a mechanic that just cries out for the old M Tron magnets)

UCS Tie Fighter - honestly way mor meh about this one they I ever thought I would be. Yeah it's a big huge Tie. But other than size it doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table that wasn't already done in 9492. Maybe once we get a better look at build and detailing? But right now it seems like a great big cube of display space that could be better utilized.

must have been spoilt the last few summer releases have been packed with great sets especially OT ones, this years lineup is lacklustre, most likely only pickup the imperial shuttle, advent calender and some of the rebel figs otherwise most of my money will be going to the majority of marvel/dc sets that will be released
