Unless it hasn't. The Geonosis troopers will almost definitely be clone wars in my eyes, unless once again, it's in rebels

I could imagine that the upcoming 'Geonosis Troopers' will most likely be featuring the AOTC Phase I Clones, mainly because TCW has ended, and that The Lego Group may not view the show having many positive marketing outcomes.

Disney binning those versions of the films actually goes a long way to them reaffirming my thoughts that it's a good thing that they're looking after SW now.

Pretty brave of them to just say the original versions are what matters... anything else can be forgotten. Puts Lucas in his place a little... despite him being $4billion richer for it.

They're not saying "the originals are all that matter" or "the SEs are no longer canon"... They're saying "Hey, fans, we hear you want high-quality versions of the originals. George had his reasons for not giving you that, but we're not George"

That's close enough for me!

If the rumors are true, there won't be a special edition anymore in the future, as Disney is releasing the movies again next fall in it's original version, without the 90s scenes. So it might make sense to throw that now on the Cantina set, as in the future no one might remember that "thing" from Luke's garage no more, that's not flying around.

Unfortunately, that won't be happening.

Another barrier that the author doesn't even mention is that the physical film for the original theatrical versions isn't even in tact. They had to cut it up when they made the special additions. Even if they wanted to release it, it would cost hundreds of millions to remaster and assemble all of it, which is cost prohibitive as most fans aren't nearly as hardcore as we are and are fine with the slanderous 'Greedo shot' first version.

Well not exactly. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/05/could-disney-finally-give-us-the-remastered-unedited-star-wars-we-want/

I believe I have the unedited version due to mine is on a vch.

check the date on that VHS tape if it is from before 1997 you likely have an original film (ok not original, as the film was sped up by 3% making it just a couple minutes shorter, with out losing a single scene) also some sounds have changed which you may never even notice :)

Actually, I think I can agree with you that it won't be CW. However I highly doubt it is AOTC. What would be amazing- if the pack either came with delta squad, or geonosians.

What else would it be, if not based on AotC or CW? I don't think a Republic Commando set is likely, they probably would have called it accordingly if it were about them. I also don't think it is for Rebels, as they would have listed it with the other Rebels' sets, wouldn't they?

Phase I movie clones are the best bet imho. We lack a real battlepack, which is a shame since high priced sets come with officers only.

However I would not mind being wrong in this case. CW had some very cool troopers on Geonosis!

There's a slim possibility that it could be a Rebels set involving a variant of Stormtrooper that we haven't seen yet. That would definitely surprise me, though.

While hopefully Rebels will visit more planets than just Lothal (and wherever they run across Wookiees, if not Lothal), I hope they steer clear of Geonosis. Despite the great TCW episodes set there, the Obvious CGpalooza that was AOTC's Geonosis still leaves as bad taste in my mouth 12 years later.

That scene on the battlefield made me love Star Wars as a child. I don't think I'd be as invested into LEGO or Star Wars at this point if it wasn't for the epicness of that first battle on Geonosis.

Though I do agree, Rebels should venture out onto new planets and maybe revisit key planets for plot sake. The only way I can see them revisiting Geonosis is if someone there built a war machine using the old factories and they have to stop them or maybe even a jedi is hiding out there.

Not currently.

The new ISD is pretty good if you want this sort of thing - Vader, a couple of Stormies + a Death Star Trooper, Imperial officer and crewman.

I was hoping for epicness, but a couple dozen human Jedi in tan and brown with only blue & green sabers on an orange background where compositing was extremely obvious going up against reddish CG droids only slightly darker than the orange dirt behind them... not epic at all. To me it looked almost as cheesy as the live-action bits from Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight.

I also hope for new worlds. I know we'll see some familiar places (and faces), but working them in organically if possible... Not obvious ratings grabs. But so long as we get some neat ships and, dare I hope?, scene sets from it, I should be at least somewhat accepting of most of what Rebels delivers

As much as I love all Star Wars, I have a lot of fond memories of the PT and TCW because my kids grew up on both. Since TCW got axed, they have moved on to other things. With the way Disney has treated TCW in particular and focused on the OT, I really hope they move onto new worlds for Rebels. There's nothing but speculation on what the Geonosis Troopers set will be but I hope it's PT or TCW based. If not, I'll be really disappointed. For me, Rebels and the upcoming ST need to stand on their own as much as possible.

Personally I'm hoping he Geonosis Troopers is from the Battle o Geonosis depicted in TCW or Delta Squad. And if not either of those, I'll take an AotC clone battlepack or geonosian battlepack.

Same here. For now, we can only hold our breath in anticipation for the leaked pictures and hope for the best...
