Arkanta974 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) May be a new c3po for the upcomming new series Lego Droid Tales ? Edited March 23, 2015 by Arkanta974 Quote
just2good Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I just bought it Saturday. Interestingly the arms, torso and legs seem to be a darker gold than the head, hands and hip piece. Thanks! Could possibly be TFA styled. Nice find. Quote
deskp Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Eh, they just didn't want a specific one for the keychain, so they removed the unique sandcrawler bits off the print. We'd hope a epi 7 c3po fig would get a silver 'boot'. Edited March 23, 2015 by deskp Quote

Particularly if Leia does go back into government and uses him as her aide... a mismatched protocol droid may not send the right message. Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I just bought it Saturday. Interestingly the arms, torso and legs seem to be a darker gold than the head, hands and hip piece. Gold is one of the harder colors to mould, that´s why there are also always little spots of different shades on the parts and figures like to have some lines where I assume the two sides of the mould are meeting. The print is identical to the Sandcrawler, only the Jawas beacon and the dirt lines were removed and I think one of the cables is white instead of gold. Definitely just so people don´t get only a rather specialized version. I wonder why they didn´t just use the 3PO print from Droids Escape/Ewok Village. It´s still in production and doesn´t seem off. Did anybody analyze the color of 3POs wires throughout the movies once? Would be funny if he has different wires in each film for no reason and Lego is now releasing all versions of that. Quote
strangely Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Gold is one of the harder colors to mould, that´s why there are also always little spots of different shades on the parts and figures like to have some lines where I assume the two sides of the mould are meeting. Yeah, but the entire body (Except for hands and hip) is a darker gold than the head. The only reason I noticed this keychain was different at all was how light the head looked in comparison to everything else, and it was like that on all the C3PO's they had in stock. I compared it to the Droid Escape version and the color is noticeably darker all over. This might just be an update of the minifigure in general. This print is far superior with it's added details and honestly the printing quality looks much better in general (Thinner and more accurately placed lines). And C3PO's wires do actually change throughout the saga. The colors change slightly but the real change is the wire configuration. Most of the time (And probably what people are most familiar with) is what's portrayed on the minifigure; a mess of wires going in several directions. The other version of his wiring has all the wires lined up in straight lines. I do tend to think they made this change for a reason though and I'm expecting to see this version in a set at some point. Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Interestingly the C3PO keychain has been updated with a new torso and leg printing. The leg printing is from the Sandcrawler, but interestingly the torso is not. It looks very similar, but lacks the damage and bolt. I'm kind of wondering if this torso is for an episode 7 version of him. Also I just realized now that Lego is doing dual molding for legs C3PO can finally have his silver leg. It isn't a Episode VII torso, at least it wasn't made exclusively for Episode VII. It's been used since 2012, first appearing in the Droid Escape set. EDIT: It appears I have been mistaken. Darth Malgus Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Intrigued by the threepio minifig. Perhaps it is the first glimpse we've had of ep 7 content. Quote

strangely Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 ....What? This is the same torso print that he has in the 2015 Advent Calander. What would make you think this is TFA related? What? C3PO's torso is a red coat in the 2015 Advent calendar. Quote

Jedi-Bendu Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 No, seriously: it's awfully quiet here regarding new info/rumors. I know glimpses of the Episode VII sets are far, far away (just like that galaxy).....but what about the rumored EchoBase? Nothing? No set #? No info? And to make things worse: still 3 months 'till Tydirium! Quote

Sir Gareth Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Really? How do you know? Trust him, he's a reliable source. Quote
Robert_88 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Honestly, we already know that. ;) Just2good posted a video a few months ago where you can see the medical droid and Han Solo's head. It's huge? Of course because it's a UCS playset :) I saw the video and immediately knew we would get a new Echo Base. :D Quote
wesker Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I wonder if Qui-Gon will have a cloth poncho similar to Leia's in the Sith Infiltrator set? It would be nice to finally have a Tatooine variant of him. Hopefully Watto will be regular plastic this time and not rubber. Quote

For me, thats a huge (pun intended) difference. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Correct me if I'm wrong, nrg, but that was old information, right? I'm just trying to clarify, so people won't keep asking you questions regarding the set. Quote
Spyderlord Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) ok...but define huge: Death Star huge? Ewok village huge? For me, thats a huge (pun intended) difference. This pretty much is what I would like to know as well. Option a): Yes, I might be getting that. Option b): No, cannot be rendered decently with that brick count and I am going Archtecture Studio + lots of Bricklink whites MOC way. I already have all the minifigs, tauntauns, wampas from all the different iterations of Hoth anyway Edited March 26, 2015 by Spyderlord Quote
Robert_88 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) ok...but define huge: Death Star huge? Ewok village huge? For me, thats a huge (pun intended) difference. Ewok Village huge. According to the leaked list it will be a 250 € set. Edited March 26, 2015 by Robert_88 Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Ewok Village huge. According to the leaked list it will be a 250 € set. Hmmm. I hope they don't include a snowspeeder then since it would reduce the brick count of the actual base. For the same reason: no Wampa or battlepack vehicle etc. Quote
Robert_88 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised if they include a Snowspeeder. But the current Snowspeeder is a great add-on product so I don't think they will include one. I believe the AT-AT and Snowspeeder are the reason why we get the Echo Base now and not Cloud City. A Wampa? Why not? It would be easy to include a little Wampa cave without sacrificing too many parts. Quote
