Only makes sense that they would feature redesigned ships we have seen in the past first. There will be of course new ships just as we have new characters. TFA has always been about transitioning from OT to a new generation of movies. One of the biggest criticisms of pt was how disconnected it looked and felt from the original movies. And frankly does one expect the wheel to be reinvented in thirty years? If a design works it gets continually reused just like our tanks, bombers, aircraft carriers etc. If everything was different then it would be a different franchise, and not Star Wars. As I tell my children, deep breathes, everyone calm down, it'll be alright.

I just hope this Cody mech sells so well that LEGO would realize how much the fans want him and put him as a normal minifig in a regular set.

Yeah, it was surprising that they didn't make one for last year's wave..I hope we get one too

What I was trying to say is: the vehicles look 99% the same as the ones in OT, just like new models of Iphones are almost indistinguishable to me. People tend to get angry when redesigns of sets we already had pop up, but suddenly can't wait for new x-wings and TIE fighters just because they are marketed under the TFA logo.

Let's face it: Episode VII is there just to help sell the same stuff over and over again. The prequels at least came with a variety of new and original designs that often were "linked" to the stuff we knew, looked familiar but at the same time managed to stay unique - ARC-170 -> X-wing; V-wing, Jedi interceptor -> TIE fighter; Venator, Acclamator - > Imperial-class ISD... Not to mention the droid army vehicles, which totally got me with how creative and interesting they were.

Once again: this is just my opinion. You can go ecstatic over the Rebels and TFA as much as you want, but don't try to steal my rights to be here and complain as much as I want. Peace. :sadnew:

Corydoras, I can understand your point and agree that quite a few of the vehicles that we have seen so far seem to be the same with ust slight modifications.

However I think you are forgetting the fact that there is only a 30 year gap between the events of the Ep6 and Ep 7. it is truly a very short time for vehicles to be updated to totally different models. After all a Star Destroyer is not a Peugeot which you can change every 3 years. Especially when you consider the cost to produce one I dont think whatever army owns them will be in a rush to replace them with brand new models every 10 years or so.

Considering the fact that the war has been going on for 30 years (as the trailers so far suggest) I would have thought that the Treasury of the Imps and Rebels would be in quite a poor state to fund purchasing of new models. Plus some of these vehicles have been tried and tested and proved to be quite successful in war. We all know how effective the x wing is, so why replace it for something else?

You give the example of the iPhone and yet you seem to have completely missed the point that something sucessful doesnt get totally replaced but rather gradually improved. The iPhone is the perfect example. It's not about the outside, it's about what it can do.

So it was expected that quite a lot of the vehicles would be the same with slight modifications. On the other hand Disney needs to keep some links to the old films for the sake of continuity and therefore the fans need to see familiar vehicles/characters. On top of that we have only seen tiny snippets of what's to come so the likelihood of new vehicles being introduced is very high in my opinion.

Disappointed rather than surprised, he’s a very important character who actually has something to say in the movie, just like Gree in your sig, both being more important than Neyo.

So nothing else other than Cody was revealed today?

Yeah....I think what LEGO was thinking was: ok, we'll focus on Kashyyyk because it's a big battle (I guess because of wookies?), then we'll make the utapau guys in a battle pack to accompany grievous's wheel bike...and then we'll make some random clone trooper which star wars fans will love and not complain about us not having made it (Neyo)...I dunno...I agree with you that Cody should've been included...at least in the wheel bike set if anything else...i wouldnt say battle pack..because then you'd have so much of him. I dunno. I'm confident we'll get a version of him, since we got Gree...love that Gree fig.

Also, nothing else at SWC

Just been trying to make sense of the leaked listing for later this year with the latest trailer:

75099 £20 ‘Lead Hero Craft’ Rey’s Speeder

75100 £40 ‘Villain Craft’ *

75101 £60 ‘Villain Star Craft’ TIE Fighter

75102 £70 ‘Hero Starfighter’ T-70 X-wing

75103 £80 ‘Villain Transport’ *

75104 £100 ‘Lead Villain Vehicle’ Kylo Ren’s Shuttle

75105 £130 ‘Hero Vehicle’ Millennium Falcon

* One of these must be the Stormtrooper transports seen in both trailers now, leaving one set unaccounted for.

No. Based on the complaints about completely unimportant, barely onscreen for a second extras not having minifigs, I'm going to say that people would complain about not having a Neyo.

I wonder how much Imperial budget spending was wasted on two death stars that once operational, contributed virtually nil to the quashing of the Rebellion, And with at least two known SSDs destroyed too...

Stands to reason that they still have similar TIEs due to the horrendous mismanagement of the R&D and shipbuilding budgets for several years, decades even.

There's a bunch of new posters and images coming out of celebration in CA and I thought you guys might like to see this one. It shows an imperial shuttle "like" craft that may or may not be the lead villain craft lego is producing.

Bottom right. Very thin necks. Are these droid troops?

That is also an excellent point!

No. They're flame troopers. I imagine that a skinny guy out on the armor.

They're snowtroopers; there's only one flametrooper in the front there; note the difference in backpacks, and--tho tougher to tell in this picture--difference in helmets. Snowtroopers wear flametrooper helmets with an extra faceplate across the front (akin to the cloth OT snowtroopers wore), and a bucket helmet (again, like OT snowtroopers or AT-ST Drivers, sorta) over the flametrooper helmet...the costume pics from the mannequins on display at Celebration make all the differences crystal clear.

Why are you even so excited about the TFA sets? Its the same old stuff over and over again, just with a few cosmetic changes that don't really make any difference. Examples? Here you go:

An X-wing with slightly modified wings and engines? WOW, how original.

A Lambda shuttle that looks like it lost the central wing? WOW, how original.

TIE fighters with white and not black solar panels? WOW, how original!

A star destroyer that looks exactly like Imperial-class ISD?

Darth Revan with a different name, a silver stromtrooper/Boba Fett wannabe?

Hype hype hype hype hype!

The new teaser trailer? BOOOOOOOORING! Believe me or not, I really got bored watching it. I don't even remember getting bored watching a trailer for a movie since a certain Korean sci-fi horror flick, can't remember the title.

Another Star Wars "fan" who just wants to hate on the new material. WOW, how original! :sadnew:

Seriously, would you expect, in-universe, for them to phase out the basic design of an X-Wing, Star Destroyer, or TIE? That's like if we in the real world changed the basic design of a car: it doesn't need to be done.

Also, like others said, your opinion is respected....But when you type "BOOOOOOORING", that comes across as just incredibly rude.

Anyway, I really want these constraction sets to sell well, simply because I'm hoping they'll release a clone captain--and then I could make one rockin' self-MOC.

Still more exciting and entertaining than most of the prequels combined!

I love the Lambda, and the new one looks like the original, but without the central wing and with the side ones flipped (see the trailer). Can't wait to get the Tydirium along with this one!
