Fulcrumfan91 Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Hm....after watching that Tydirium review...I dislike the fact that there's an obvious sticker in the back inside the passenger area..mainly because I enjoy putting stickers on lego bricks..the problem is that that is clearly a rebel alliance sticker...it would look odd we're anyone to want to fit stormtroopers inside it. I think there is plenty of space for stormies, at least five of them including Vader if the box is taken out as well. It's a good set...but I'm not as crazy about it now..I still will wait and see what the TFA sets are like. Tydirium is pretty good though Quote
Kingslayer Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 So is there a new one coming out? I talked to a lego assistant manager and he coyly told me he "heard" that rumor also. I don't know about that(if there is I will be getting that at some point as well ), but I do know it has returned to the Lego Shop Page. It does say it takes 30 says to ship, Quote

Flieger Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Why am I not surprised at all the complaining about sets people can't even buy yet? Because it is only sensible to judge a set before you spend, say, 130€ on it. Thanks to pictures, videos, and reviews this is a perfectly valid practice. (I also look at the completed builds on display in the stores as soon as possible). I can positively say that the minifig selection, the looks, and the play features of the Assault Carrier do not appeal to me enough to buy it. It may not be a fair judgement, and I may change my mind. That is why I do not call it an ultimate judgement or a review. Quote

Gremer Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I just finished building my 75060. It's absolutely fantastic, and probably my favorite set. Quote
Peasantseverywhere Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I for one, really love the Imperial Assault Carrier and genuinly like the design of the ship. I think the function to drop the mini Tie's is fantastic and I love all the opening sections where you can place your minifigures :) Quote
bountybossk Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 (edited) I've been reading this topic for a few weeks now and I thought it was time to start contributing :) What do you guys think are the chances of seeing the first images of the TFA sets before June? Lego will publish their new catalog on June 1st and I would be surprised if it didn't contain the new TFA sets. In comparison: the Age of Ultron sets were released in April, but we already saw the first images in December. Right before the "January - June" catalog was released, which contained info and images of the Age of Ultron set. Edited May 10, 2015 by bountybossk Quote

I think it will be slim to none, and anyone leaking them will be hunted down and skinned. There are hard street dates and there are HARD STREET DATES. TFA is the later. Disney/Lucasfilms will brook no early spoils from license partners. Quote
deskp Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I think they will use a placeholder image for the sets, a coming soon image... Yeah hobbit 3 had a similar release time to TFA and that didn't show up in the catalogue either. Quote
Artanis I Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I won't be picking up the assault carrier either, I only want the helmet and astromech (if it's new). Even though the helmet is the wrong colour. The other Rebels set I skipped was the wookiee gunship. Looks like others felt the same. Haha. Had John Candy on my mind lately. Yeah hobbit 3 had a similar release time to TFA and that didn't show up in the catalogue either. Exactly. The difference this time is that SW sets WILL actually be stocked on shelves... Quote
Fuppylodders Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I actually quite like it. although im not sure i like it enough to pay 130 for it... But i do know i want that little droid! Quote
Tariq j Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Brickshow have done their review on the assult carrier. Quote
phanstasm Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Do the European Star Wars instructions generally have a page that shows all of the wave's new minifigures like the US instructions? I watched all of The Brick Show's reviews of the European versions of the sets hoping that they would show that minifigure overview page. I was really interested in seeing finalized versions of the Sith Infiltrator minifigures, and learning if Qui-Gon came with his Tatooine poncho. Hopefully they will post a picture soon. Quote
darththeling Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 It's surprising to me the lack of support here for the 75106 Imperial Assault Carrier. Are we not in favor of new designs? Seems like most waves are 70% rehashes. I was a fan of the carrier from its first appearance in Star Wars Rebels and hoped we'd get a proper Lego version. And it ain't an easy design to build - lots of weird slope areas. For a Rebels fan and someone who is building a sizable Imperial navy, this entry is a must-have and I'll be getting this at full price - cannot wait. Got a soft spot for capital ships. There is some interior space - a cockpit and what appears to be a sitting room only space in the middle. Two consoles and two cargo areas. It looks reasonable to me, as some have protested that there is no interior space whatsoever. The only thing I'm not crazy about are the stubby little TIES. But it remains to be seen it the ship displays better with or without them. This is going to look pimpin' next to an ISD. Quote
Raskolnikov Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I agree completely on the Assault Carrier. I love the fact that we're getting a new Imperial capital ship, and it's easily what I'm looking forward to most out of this wave. I may mod the interior and ditch the carry handle. If you do that, it'll have a fine interior. I also may ditch the TIEs as I don't like it when there's something like that explicitly highlights how the ship is not to scale with other sets. I.e., the Ghost is not to scale with an X-wing, but you can put them next to each other and not think about that. The TIEs are like a neon sign that says "not to scale." But still, excited about it overall. Quote
Venkefedo Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I think the Assault Carrier looks good, and I dig the minifig assortment (well, the TIE pilots are a little dull--a new Tarkin and maybe a crewman would've been aces there--and while I love the astromech, I'd still like Lego to introduce a new element for a proper R4 'conehead' head, since that's the main Imperial astromech we saw throughout S1). My biggest problem with the summer wave is...I want it all! Well, not the Naboo Fighter really since I have the previous one, but the AC, the Tydirium, the Final Duel... 3 big sets, plus the Flash Speeder, and just before TFA sets get released? Uuuuuuugh. And there are still several sets (like the Ghost & the SD) that I wanna nab currently. Quote

And there are still several sets (like the Ghost & the SD) that I wanna nab currently. The minifig assortment on the IAC is very weak (complete rehashes except for headpieces, and a mediocre astromech variant). There's so many great characters from Rebels season 1 that deserved a slot - Maketh Tua and Lando are the big ones, Tarkin is sorely lacking any kind of modern version, and honestly, it would have been the perfect time to release an adult Ahsoka (Shaak Ti's headpiece and you're good to go, no new mold required). However, I suppose it's nice, if nothing else, to get a new Imperial capital ship, as others have said. Personally, I'd advise passing on the Star Destroyer - obsolete Vader, forgettable figs, weaker interior than the 06 version - and there will undoubtedly be a new Star Destroyer for Episode VII, either in the September wave or a mid-2k16 wave. Flash Speeder and Final Duel are the only guaranteed buys for me right now - Infiltrator I'll need more images, Shuttle is just a little pricey, IAC has a really lackluster interior and doesn't have an iconic appearance (a $50 Sabine's TIE would have been a much better set choice). I like the look of the ship in Rebels, and in It's Clone Wars appearances, and for the set it's self, it looks pretty cool, I just don't like enough to get it, mostly just because of the minifigures that are in the set don't really stand out to me, and the set is just a little too expensive to get "just 'cause". I don't know, that's just me. Quote

How can TLG win in that situation? Damned if they do and damned if they don't? Do agree with you on the Sabine TIE though! Quote

How can TLG win in that situation? Damned if they do and damned if they don't? Do agree with you on the Sabine TIE though! You're twisting my words - I never said anything about a "rehash" of Tarkin. Sabine and Kallus (and the generic Imps) are exact repacks of their previous appearances, except with new headpieces. Kallus' hair is nothing super exciting, and Sabine's helmet should have been included from the get go - and it doesn't do much to mitigate the fact that she was already completely butchered as a minifigure (skin tone whitewashed, completely alien faceprint, badly molded hairpiece that pops off with the slightest adjustment, randomly bare arms). Not only is the IAC the big flagship set of the wave, it's the only Rebels release for the summer (and the rest of the year), and thus, the weakness of the minifig assortment is even more painful. Tarkin, on the other hand, has never had a proper version in the perfected modern style Lego has been using since 2010. Thus, he's something we definitely could use, and has the added bonus of fitting seamlessly into any Rebels kit due to his presence in the series. And adult Ahsoka would look nothing like Shaak Ti - simply compare two images of them, their outfits are completely different. Quote
Tariq j Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 The thing with Ashoka is that she can always be released in a future set. Her appearance in the show was a surprise reveal - something that can only be done once, if we saw her in the confidential pictures that's her identity revealed. Not making her reveal a surprise. Quote
duboismerci Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Also Shaak Ti was in only 1 set. So even if adult Ashoka is a 'rehash' of Shak Ti, it is a opportunity for many to get her for the first time. A real exemple of a rehash according to me: Obi Wan and Qui Gon from the MTT. Summer 2014 Obi is in the Naboo starfighter and Qui Gon in the new Sith infiltrator. (Summer 2015) Both the exact same minifigures as the MTT. Edited May 11, 2015 by duboismerci Quote
