darththeling Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) Taking a guess at features here: One, maybe two green flick fires. Does anyone think, scrutinizing what looks to be Technic bits underneath the wings, there is some collapsing feature to the two wings? There seems to be a great deal of care in detailing and depth that suggest something functional in them. A ship this large should be teeming with at least a few features. Is that the jungle of Yavin IV on the cover? Edited May 26, 2015 by darththeling Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Set is crying out for some smooth surfaces, some stickers or even some inexplicable blue highlights that lego usually finds a way to include... My concern has always been 'have lego had enough time to design these sets?', I fear we have our answer Quote
deskp Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 My concern has always been 'have lego had enough time to design these sets?', I fear we have our answer I'd say the design of this is the movie designs fault, not legos. it just doesen't seem like a very interesting looking ship, with the lack of a windhield window thing. no focus point. But unlike other lego sw sets they obviously haven't had 10-15 years to figure out a design. Quote
Jay_Em Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 The Twilight was ugly because it had no symmetry. I imagine this one will look better in the flesh. Quote
ArrowBricks Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Not what i expected, but at least the first pic has arrived! Thank god! It seems the TIE Shuttle remains for 2016. Tie Shuttle? Do you know something or is that a prediction? I don't get the whole set at all. It looks strange, kind of like its unfinished as the cockpit piece looks weird. I get it's an instruction manual but I'm pretty sure you see figures of some sort on it. The set will probably look a lot better with official pictures, features shown, and figures, if of course this is 'real' Looking forward to seeing the rest as it won't really spoil any major plot or info apart from ships and certain characters. Galactic13 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) The design of this set brings back fond memories of the 2007-2008 sets that brought me into Star Wars for the first time. Edited May 26, 2015 by Galactic13 Quote
Darth Malgus Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Interesting to see. Curious to see the scale of the ship. Quote

Slurpifier Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 It looks 'decent'. Sure, the over exposed amount of studs is off putting, however I am going to wait until I see a review of it, or see the box and model displayed in person (My local Toymaster did that with the Revenge Of The Sith Lego sets in 2005; by displaying them out in 'epic' battle displays and such) Quote
Jacob Nion Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I found that shuttle boring when I saw the first drawings of it and the set isn't better. I'm pretty sure you could have done it with half the parts and spare the expensive price tag for something more interesting. I always found it odd when the majority of parts is spent on such extra ordinary large wings. They add nothing to the playability or functionality. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I love how we see a blurry (and, more than likely, preliminary) image, and people are already hating on it. Personally, I like the look of it so far, but I will wait until we have clearer images before I give out real opinions. Quote
deskp Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I love how we see a blurry (and, more than likely, preliminary) Nope. There wouldnt be a production of insctruction manulas with prelim imgaes. ;) Quote
MartinCliffe Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Looks interesting, if not elegant. Hard to judge from one blurry image. I want to see the finished item and how it fits in the line before I pass judgement. As it is, I'm not sure where I'm going to put any more sets :D Quote

But unlike other lego sw sets they obviously haven't had 10-15 years to figure out a design. Yeah, when I saw the 2nd teaser which showed this ship, I thought "Ugh, that's gonna be an annoying Lego set... it's all 'wing'." I passed on the Pre Vizsla Mando Fighter partly because so much of it was just giant wings--not so much because of all the exposed studs, tho I get why that's an issue (especially when looking at the pics of the old Twilight set), but more just because I think of SW starfighters as "snub fighters", more like the OT ships, not behemoths that could nearly rival the Falcon if given a bit more bulk. That said, I like Vizsla's ship over this design for now... hopefully there are lots of play features, a good interior, and not too many cool figures exclusive to this set If it's a "bad guy Falcon" in terms of screen time, features, etc, maybe it'll be cool! I wanna see more pics before I totally write it off... Bring on the T-70 X-wing! Quote
Renegade Clone Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Yikes, that's awfully 'studdy' and big. Nothing wrong with being 'studdy' Quote
Aethersprite Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 This isn't prelim, but it's still not a great picture of the set. I'm loving what I'm seeing! I was expecting it to be white in line with how it was shown on some concept posters, but grey works as well. The wings fold out sort of Lambda-style to form a V shape as was seen in the trailer, I don't know why Lego didn't have it shown in that configuration on the boxart. Hopefully this set includes Kylo Ren! Quote

Hopefully this set includes Kylo Ren! Might be shown that way on the back... seeing as it's firing here, maybe "wings up, lower wings down" is its "lock S-foils in attack position" mode, with the "V" shape being standard flight/landing mode. If this really is Kylo's ship--and given the teasers, it probably is--then he'll undoubtedly be included. I just hope it isn't the only way to get him (in a set, that is)! Quote
wesker Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Not all that impressed, but thats more an issue with the design of the ship itself rather than the actual set. Its just a grey box with wings. There's no real shape or colour to it. Quote

I quite like the ship's design for some reason, so I'll probably be getting it. But I agree, it's a bit plain and boring. I do hope it has a decent interior to make up for that. And of course, a Kylo Ren minifig! Quote
afolaus Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) So according to the below this is 1004 pieces. It's certainly a big ship - massive wings, does that seem accurate? I'm not judging the legitimacy of either bits of info, I have no doubt both are legitimate, just cross referencing them. Star Wars: The Force Awakens 75099 LEGO Star Wars 1 193 pieces. Age 6+ $19.99 (USD) $24.99 (CAD) Available in September 75100 LEGO Star Wars 2 444 pieces. Age 6+ $39.99 (USD) $49.99 (CAD) Available in September 75101 LEGO Star Wars 3 517 pieces. Legocity2713 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Well… upside down (and perhaps in black) it could make a good Malekith ship from Thor The Dark World. Quote
Artanis I Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I'm not too keen. All those studs (and reverse plates on the other side of the wings) make a bland-looking ship even less enticing. Quote
ChiefPie Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 It looks interesting. The cockpit seems small for minifigures but of course we do not know a lot about the set. Can't wait to see the rest! Quote
Jacob_9821 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Interesting. I didn't think we'd be seeing any Force Awakens sets before their official announcement. This seems to be the $120 set, and at that price I'm not really feeling it. I do, however look forward to this one on a 20% discount. As for the set itself, well, what more is there to say that hasn't been said? I don't care for the huge amount of studs, but I do like the ships design. I'm 50/50 on this one. Quote
Artanis I Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 I think if there was more black like all of the other TIE ships it would be a lot better. Plain grey is rather dull. It works for AT-ATs & Star Destroyers but not things like this. Quote
