scorchfire Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 What the heck is that thing on the ground in front of Maul? I don't remember ever getting a really good view of his speeder in the movie, but it certainly does look weird here. I do sort of like the ship, but it's not an immediate purchase (for me) by any stretch. I haven't been out of the dark ages very long, though so I don't have Maul or Qui-Gon, making it a likely purchase before retirement. well now that i see some images from epsiode 1, his speeder is indeed very large and taller than him, however its narrow. i dont get why they could not make it 1 stud wide at the base, it should look better that way Quote
strangely Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 My problem with the build is that they couldn't decide which method they wanted to uses, slopes or plates. Though I'm guessing they used plates in several places just to have interior space. The bottom of it looks pretty rough though, Lego should probably create a few more inverted slope pieces so they can more effectively create the underside of these types of ship. I will say it looks far sturdier than the last one. They could have given us more minifigures though. They could have at least thrown in Padme with leg printing or Smee. Really they could have thrown in any other character and it would have improved the lineup greatly. I'll probably buy it when I see a sale. I've yet to get any version of this ship and this will likely be the last for a while. Plus I think this is the best version they've done so far. I have to say I am disappointed by the lack of Padme in this years sets. They could have put a variation in nearly any of these Episode 1 sets and it would have made far more sense than Watto's inclusion here. I feel like I'm going to be waiting years for a Theed invasion version of her, or any unmade version of her it seems. Quote
Fives Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 MAUL FINALLY HAS LEG PRINTING! This new Infiltrator puts the 2011 version to shame. Sure, the Ani and Watto figs are kinda lame (I get why Ani is there, but why the heck did we need another Watto? Really missed a good chance to get Shmi). Qui-Gob looks fantastic with the poncho. And Maul's new face looks awesome! Its a little annoying that he's showing his teeth, but I think upon closer inspection, it'll grow on me. Any idea when this is being released? With the constraction figures? Quote
Artizan Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The sith speeder looks like Maul borrowed it from Sebulba.. what kind of color scheme is that?? Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Hurry up and get your Sith Infiltrator guys! I hear it won't be on the shelves long as Lego already has the next 5 versions of that craft all waiting to go. Care for another snowspeeder while you're at it? Quote
Chookdude Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 That's just Sabine's blaster. The second image posted showed a new handle Quote
DarthBrickus Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 If i didnt already own the 2011 version, i think i'd actually buy this. It doenst look THAT bad and definetely better than the last one. Qui-Gon's Poncho-upgrade is nothing to write home about, but Darth Maul looks pretty awesome. Quote
Tariq j Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The minifigures are certainly the strong point of this set, but I think I might pass it. Quote
Flieger Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 One thing I do find disapointing about all these Episode 1 sets is that none of them include Padme. They could have easily thrown in a Theed Battle version in the Naboo Fighter and Flash Speeder, or updated the Tatooine outfit for the Infiltrator. Padme and Sabe would have made an interesting pair, but I still have hope we someday see the Royal Starship with Olié, Padme, and Sabe. Padme is barely in any sets so I'd be pretty happy if they put her in anything. She would have fit in the infiltrator just as much as Watto and she would have fit in the starfighter more than Obi-Wan. Curiously though, they shoehorned her into the Gungan Sub. She could be easily put in any of the 2015 TPM sets without looking weird. But the lack of Padme-Minifigs is also the result of Lego refusing to make sets in which she'd be present: Theed, Royal Starship(s), Senate... The sith speeder looks like Maul borrowed it from Sebulba.. what kind of color scheme is that?? A screen accurate colour scheme. The Bloodfin had a dark grey shell and orange seat colours. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bloodfin_%28speeder%29 Still a bad build, though. Quote
montgocloud Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 The second image posted showed a new handle I surely don't see it... So the Sith Infiltrator looks a lot better. I'm very interested to say the least. The Bloodfin has a very odd design though... I'll probably by it anyways. Qui-Gon's poncho could easily double as Luke's poncho. The craft is fine, I guess. And a new Maul is always a good thing to have! Quote
Anio Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 It doenst look THAT bad and definetely better than the last one. Yep, it seems better than what I expected. By the way, you will notice that this model and the 75095 both have dish 8x8 printed. By removing the print, it may be a "cheap" way to get dish 8x8 in LBG. The current dish 8x8 in LBG were from the 10030 ISD produced after 2003. No need to say that this part is almost unaffordable at the moment (about 20$ each). Quote
Chookdude Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I surely don't see it... My mistake I was looking at the image wrong Quote
Artizan Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 A screen accurate colour scheme. The Bloodfin had a dark grey shell and orange seat colours. http://starwars.wiki...odfin_(speeder) Still a bad build, though. There is no black on the front, and seat looks more dark tan than orange. Quote
Flieger Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 In the film it looks more like brown to me, but really - that is nitpicking. I have seen various interpretations, like brown, tan, orange, and everything in between. You can clearly see why lego chose this orange colour. However the black is puzzling me, too. Quote
Jacob Nion Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) Strange- I hear no complaints about Watto being included. Speaking for myself, I find that a bit odd. Of course it's the only chance for TLC to use that mold for a long time, since there probably won't be episode I sets the next time, and people have a second chance to grab it- but if context doesn't matter, there would have been plenty other possibilities for figs. The build itself is not as bad as the second version, but there's simply no room for slopes in the infiltrartor's design. It's snot is flat, and normally that should be a gift to the responsible designer, because it would have been so easy to make an accurate flat snout that matches the elegance of the ship. They probably don't dare not to use slopes, because someone thinks it would look boring and uninteresting, or like it would have a lower piece count. That makes me sad. Qui Gon with poncho is a nice addition, but feels like Edited June 2, 2015 by Jacob Nion Quote
TheWolffe Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Dayum, loving that Darth Maul, arm printing and everything. Definitely a good set to, much prefer this one over its predecessors. Quote
Flieger Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 If it is really 99,99€ as some sites claim, it is positively overpriced for 660 parts and 4 minifigs. The Tydirium has the same price but comes with 937 parts and 5 minifigs; the MTT has 3 minifigs, 7 droids, and 954 parts for the same price as well. Quote
wesker Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Padme is barely in any sets so I'd be pretty happy if they put her in anything. She would have fit in the infiltrator just as much as Watto and she would have fit in the starfighter more than Obi-Wan. She was a major character in three of the movies and pretty important overall in TCW. I agree that LEGO doesn't put enough female characters in their sets and I think that Leia, Padme, Hera, and other important female characters should have at least a bit more focus in LEGO sets. While last year was pretty underwelming, I do think the line has made drastic improvement with the inclusion of female characters over the past 5 years. This year in particular is shaping up to be pretty impressive - we already have Endor Leia, Ventress and 2 Sabine figures. There's a potential Hoth Leia on the way in the USC Echo Base. And there are at least four female characters that can potentially show up in TFA sets including a third Princess Leia variant. Its just a shame Padme is often the one getting the short end. Quote
Gremer Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 In my opinion, this is by far the best Infiltrator they have made. The lack of Padme is still disappointing though. Quote
Cyberfounder Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) My local store has all the new sets, I was so happy until I saw those prices... 50€ for the speeder and 110 for the shuttle, not to mention the duel set??? No way im getting these sets now... Maybe If the price dropped 1/3 and then I'm still not sure. Edited June 2, 2015 by Cyberfounder Quote

My next thought after seeing this photo was that 7961 should have looked like this, then they could have made room in 2015 for a TIE Bomber or something else with little or no treatment. But I'm in a particularly forgiving mood, as I'm thoroughly enjoying the new Tydirium Shuttle - what a cool set. Edited June 2, 2015 by lowlead Quote
HawkLord Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I'll pass on the infiltrator. Even if I didn't already have the 2011 set, this one just doesn't have enough to going for it to warrant the price, especially with a new SW movie on the horizon. I want to like it, but I just can't get there. Maybe if there wasn't so much other material, like other good SW sets (Tyderium), Jurassic World, and Marvel, I might have picked it up. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I'm loke most on this one, certain parts I like others I don't. Can't see the reason for 2 'little Anny's' in one wave of sets... Quote

That's one of the most galling bits... he makes sense in this set, and in the N-1 fighter, but he's much more expendable in the N-1 (and not just because he was in the same set a few years ago)--they could've replaced him with Padme in her Theed Battle outfit since she was in the hangar along with Obi-Wan & the pilots. Quote
wesker Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Here's another shot of the Infiltrator along with a close up of Qui-Gon and Darth Maul courtesy of just2good. I'm not sure I really like the new Darth Maul face. While the thicker lines are nice, the smile seems a bit out of character and the tattoos look inaccurate compared to previous minifigures. Quote
