BrickBob Studpants Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 The magnet suggestion sounds very reasonable, maybe BB-8's parts are similar to the magnet parts they used in the Hungarian Horntail set: http://img.bricklink.com/P/115/bb188.jpg http://img.bricklink.com/P/88/bb187.gif Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 (edited) But why on earth would it need that. It wouldn't. Maybe there's a magnet inside the sphere allowing you to position the head whichever way you want That'd certainly be quite useful, wouldn't it? Edited June 20, 2015 by Lego-Freak Quote

Fire spray 31 Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 If magnets are banned then it is reasonable to believe they won't contain any magnets. However, if they are not banned I am not so certain why everyone is adamant that they won't appear in this figure. Unless you have some inside information, then you don't know anymore than we do and won't find out until September. Quote

Now that you mention it, I faintly remember reading about TLG having banned magnets for they may cause serious damage to internal organs after being swallowed... So yeah, deskp is right, the implementation of magnets is very unlikely at this point. BB-8's body probably consists of Sandy's dome pieces after all Quote

CM4Sci Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Hooray, clearer pictures! What about underneath the helmet? Quote
geobrush Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) Sadly it has a black head with no print. Edited June 21, 2015 by geobrush Quote
deskp Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) Nice, could we get a pic from the side? Edited June 21, 2015 by deskp Quote
geobrush Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) Sure thing. Edited June 21, 2015 by geobrush Quote
deskp Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 (edited) Thanks, the helmet is alot better printed than firt thought, but the black line over the chin is grossly inaccurate for phasma. its a holdover from the stormtroopers where they belong. Do you have any clone or stormtrooeprs to compare with in an image? maybe a black cape to stick on phasma? Edited June 21, 2015 by deskp Quote
rollermonkey Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 The issue with magnets is with the super-powerful neodymium magnets. If swallowed, there can be issues with tissue damage due to the high strength of them. 'normal' magnets are not banned from use in toys, just the neodymium ones. That said, BB-8's base is a sphere and it's head is a dome. That doesn't leave a lot of options for where to have studs. Even if the bottom is round, it wouldn't roll well on a studded surface. If the connection is a stud, and not some sort of magnetic field, the droid will lose a lot of playability, IMO. I think the best compromise would be a single stud on 'top' of the sphere, a single socket on the bottom of the head and a small built-in counterweight in the bottom of the sphere to keep it upright on a smooth surface. How do we know that fig is Phasma, and not part of the same unit? The lack of cape is a pretty glaring omission if it's supposed to be Phasma, don't you think? Quote

The fig wasnt exactly taken out of a box. it was just assembled from parts at a factory. thus there was no cape available or no face nessecarily. thatnks for the extra pix Geo. Te cape makes her mroe substantial. Edited June 21, 2015 by deskp Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 ......How do we know that's an official Phasma? And also, I'm loving BB-8......but I think you guys are expecting too much. The odds of it rolling are very slim. Most likely, it's just a new ball-mold with some studs sticking out. Quote
deskp Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 ......How do we know that's an official Phasma? We know it's an official figure cause lego lawyers told websites to take down the first pic we got ;) Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 A picture of a Chrome Trooper figure from the Force Awakens I bought today in a flee market. a flea market? How is that possible? Quote
rollermonkey Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 This may be a bit premature, but if you ever wanted A-wings in different colors, they are now canonical. Quote
Fire spray 31 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Yeah how did you get that a flea market? Quote
scorchfire Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 a flea market? How is that possible? Well in case you don't know, it's very well known that in Mexico near the area of the Lego factory, minifigs always leak and end up going to this flea markets...basically by illegal means, people already have armies of the Scooby-Doo zombie for example and more stuff that hasn't come out yet. You could go to the Facebook page legomania Mexico for more insight on the matter Yeah how did you get that a flea market? Check my post Quote
