I bet this one is a retailer exclusive set. The set number is quite high (sets from 75062-75084?) and the MSRP seems a little steep. It's a pattern for these TV show exclusive sets. BARC Speeder, HH47, Pre Vizsla, etc...

I'm sure it isn't. Rarely does LEGO showoff retail exclusives at conventions, and we usually get a $60-$70 SW set in each Winter wave.

I'm guessing it has something to do with a concept like that. Since Rebels takes place five year before Episode IV, it could be that the Wookies have advanced in tech and/or are hijacking Imperial ships to resist the Empire. I'm guessing they'll explain it once the show airs.

It's 14 years after ROTS, the Wookiees took what they learned from the Clone Wars and probably several years of Imperial oppression and turned their delicate-looking vehicles of ROTS into something more formidable. There! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I agree that the concept of more advanced Wookiee technology makes perfect sense. After all, we know they're excellent engineers, and all we saw in Sith were atmospheric craft. The problem is that coloring and shaping of this design look nothing like anything we saw in the OT, so it doesn't look believable as something that they would have developed following the lead of the rest of the galaxy. On the other hand, it doesn't fit in at all with any of the previously seen Wookiee technology — it's tan instead of brown, it's bulky rather than long and thin, its curves are neither flowing nor elegant, it looks like it's trying to look like a fat bird instead of the melding of a tree and an insect — so it also doesn't look like something they developed entirely on their own. It just doesn't fit in no matter how I try to rationalize its in-universe creation.

last year the AT-AP was the only SW LEGO set revealed at SDCC; hope that this year they'll reveal some more...

As for this new Wookie vehicle; I agree that it looks like nothing from the Wookie homeworld, but then again there's money in the Star Wars universe, so they just could have bought it; I'd most certainly get the best war machines available on the black market if the Empire was hovering above MY planet...

Hi

it looks like a Apache AH64 attack helicopter without rotor blades. Nothing special, nothing SW-ish. Like the grashopper - i dont like it :(

Dino

I agree, those rebel sets all seem to mimic US military combat vehicles. I love that we get more wookies, but I think I will just bricklink them. :)

Besides the fact that it does not look very wookieish, as mentioned before, it sort of looks , from the lego interpretation of it at least, as if it could be any generic science fiction theme that lego has come up.

I agree that the set does not look too SW, at least it's far from OT. It reminds me more of a SC banshee but it still looks cool. And getting 3 wookies in an interesting set is far better than getting one per a very uninteresting set which were not so cheap either ... I'm really looking forward to more Rebels sets, they all look cool for now. I'm really glad that they skipped the CW eyes eventhough the cartoon style is quite similar, which allows for a better compatibility of the figs. But as CW, I'll watch the show and keep it separate from the PT and OT. That way you can enjoy it more, since the universe is Star Wars but it does not cause you to think about the paradoxes and inconsistencies with the original movies! In the end, I prefer getting some interesting sets and figs even if not so SWish, to getting yet another X-wing, Luke, Han, ...

I do look forward to more rebel sets, I think they will come with very interesting mini figures, but so far I don't think I will buy the sets, only the mini figures. The vehicles look to far from the SW universe and this one looks way to far from the wookie technology, even if its more then a decade after the battle of kashyyyk...

I wonder what the craft is meant to be made of, if it's wood then the set is a silly colour, if it's metal, then the set looks like a Droid ship.

Also, they are still using the old crossbow and musket pieces :sceptic:.

With that out of the way,

Love it, will get it for sure. Great figures, nice play features and some interesting construction techniques. It's not very 'star wars-y' though, it doesn't look like wookie tech. That's not a criticism, as it's a nice design, it's just an unexpected design direction

This is probably the least appealing lego star wars set I've seen to date, visually anyway. I like the figs and all but the vehicle looks like some horrible attempt at "wookieeefying" a republic gunship for a contest. The design gets a resounding meh from me.

Ooh, I like it! :oh:

Yes, the gunship doesn't really look like it's made out of wood or anything, but still...

It's a nice opportunity to get some more Wookiees  (although they seem far less detailed than this year's Chewbacca and Chief Tarfull)

Mitch

Seems Lego listened to us when we said 'let the wookiee win'

Overall, its nice set. Has some pretty nifty features, and an alright colour scheme. Easily a must get for the wookiee's, but that price could keep my wallet at bay.

I'm thinking that ship is inherited or taken from someone and painted up rather than an original Wookie design.

I'm still not decided on whether to get the Rebels sets but each one has been quite nice in it's own right.

Maybe the wookiees tried to rebuild a republic gunship out of wood. I'm surprised that there's no antagonist, something kids can shoot at with the new blasters. 3 wookiees instead of 2 and a boring stormtrooper seem to be afol wish thinking.

But of course I'm glad to see new wookiees.

I guess we will see rebels battle packs in 2015. Hopefully not with this awful stormtrooper from ghost.

Thats the reason I have never bought a CW set, purely because I dont want to get them mixed up with the PT or OT sets. For example the Turbo tank, Gunship and AC170 were all made for both CW and PT. However as the Rebels sets seems completely different from anything else I am more than happy to collect them, Hopefully due to the time difference nothing will be too similar to EPVII

I like the design of the gunship. To me, it looks neat and perfectly like a verhicle from an animated series, and it looks like a smaller, bulkier, and heavier armed version of the republic gunship.

ARC-170 has pilots with regular Lego eyes, so that's a debate as to whether it's clone wars or episode III

You know what it reminds me off? Man of steel bad guys vehicle :P :P :P

That's exactly what I was thinking.

They're just as detailed as far as I can tell, I think they just use lighter detailing colors.
