Nokturn Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) I am wondering at this point if the wings of Kylo Ren's lander even fold at all? The only time we have seen it was in the first trailer a while ago. Lots of changes happen in post production. I know that Disney didn't even want to show at trailer at that time but JJ insisted. So in all reality things could have changed drastically from that point. Minor correction, Kylo's ship was in the second teaser, not the first. Personally, I still think the wings fold out. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, though. Edited August 23, 2015 by Nokturn Quote
Lego Fett Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Star Wars has never, ever, ever been about making toys. I would like to correct you about that. When Han got frozen in carbonite because he didnt want to work on Star wars anymore, George Lucas convinced him to come back, why? He said: Well, we can't sell dead Han Toys, now can we? Minor correction, Kylo's ship was in the second teaser, not the first. Personally, I still think the wings fold out. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, though. I don see how they can fold out. Lift arms are not visible, and the connecting point is too thick. And, if that ship can fold out, why would lego not showing it flying in all its glory? Why show it flying in landing mode? Quote

Monty was being facetious. Star Wars has been largely about merchandise since the first movie broke records. Quote

And, if that ship can fold out, why would lego not showing it flying in all its glory? Why show it flying in landing mode? Hi, i'm new to this board. I saw a picture of Kylos Ship where the wing mechanism was shown. It seems the wings dont fold up and down like most of The People expect because of what was Seen in the trailer. But the wings "extend" in upward position, so that the overall length raises. My english is not good enough to explain that like it should, but i hope you guys Understand what i mean. Criss Quote

And, if that ship can fold out, why would lego not showing it flying in all its glory? Why show it flying in landing mode? My theory is that it wouldn't fit on the box art if the wings were folded out. It barely fits with the wings extended. Also, the measurments leaked in the set descriptions might confirm my theory. The set is 20 cm wide, but it doubles that to 40 cm with the wings "fully extended." I am positive that the description was not refering to height or length, it clearly said width. Quote

Nokturn Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Perhaps, perhaps not. Only way to know for sure is to wait. That is true. I will say that I will make it my life goal to heavily modify the set if I turn out to be wrong. Quote

Wing of the shuttle only fold in landing mode, but I guess the wings mechanism could be modified. Quote

So in all reality things could have changed drastically from that point. LEGO sets take a while to produce. I think it's far more likely that the set is based off of early concept art. The timetable you suggested just isn't possible. The only way it would work is if the lander in the film underwent a radical transformation within a matter of days. We saw a leaked photo of the set in late May that's identical to the current version. If LEGO were to change the model, Lucasfilm would have to give them ample time to create the new design, instructions, manufacture the parts, and package the set. Since the trailer and the leaked photo were released within such a small time frame, the theory that the design changed this late in the game is impossible. I would like to correct you about that. When Han got frozen in carbonite because he didnt want to work on Star wars anymore, George Lucas convinced him to come back, why? He said: Well, we can't sell dead Han Toys, now can we? I was being sarcastic. Star Wars has always been about toys. Edited August 23, 2015 by montyofmusic Quote

I've been following the leaks since day 1, and I have all of the original source images safely on my hard drive. If anything, the back of the box only backs up my theory. If you look closely, you'll see a third set of arrows, possibly indicating that there's another stage to the wing functions. Also, if you look at the connection points, you'll notice that they consist of a few black 1 x 4 bricks with grooves. Why would that be there, if not for another function? Either way, I don't think you can definitively say that the wings do not fold out, much like I can't definitively say that they do. There's evidence to back up both sides of the debate. As noted by Lego Fett, we'll just have to wait and see. Edited August 23, 2015 by Nokturn Quote

While I am not interested on the shuttle set, because of how it looks, if the build will be interesting and play features are there it migh change my opinion on the set. So far the only good thing about this set is Kylo Ren. Quote

Fire spray 31 Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Minor correction, Kylo's ship was in the second teaser, not the first. I am counting it as a first trailer because of its length. I am not sure what they are officially calling it. Quote
Darth Kylo Ren Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 These sets are amazing I can't wait for the MF and the Transporter. Quote
Nokturn Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I am counting it as a first trailer because of its length. I am not sure what they are officially calling it. Officially, we haven't actually gotten a trailer yet, just two teasers, the BTS reel from SDCC, and the Korean TV Spot. It was confirmed by J.J. Abrams that we would get the first trailer "in the fall." Guessing we still have to wait a bit. Quote
